Would someone tell me which building has the PacMan stuff on it? My son is gaga over PacMan and really want to stay in that building. We are booked for a standard room. Would I need to upgrade if that building is preferred. I looked through the thread but I couldn't find it.

Thanks so much.

Also on my ressie it says a Arcade Play Voucher. Anyone know what that is? Thanks!

I believe that is the 80's but it definitely is not preferred if not the 80's it is the 90's but I want to say it's the 80's! But I'm sure someone else can tell you definitely!

If you booked the Magic Your Way Package, you get a 30 minute "free" card for the arcade. But I think it only works on certain games... I never have used it before, but I've heard others complaining about it.

ETA: It is indeed the 80s.

I'm a big fan of the 80's section. You stand a good chance of getting a room that's quiet, near a pool (shaped like a computer), near parking and still reasonably close to the food court area. I recommend a room on the third or fourth floor, near the elevator and facing the parking lot.

:hippie:

NOPE Never to early! You can call and add it to your original ressie! It's not gauranteed though it's just a request remember that. And it depends on if you want quite or pool view or lakeview etc...

If you are in a standard room and want pool view I would say request 50's section. If you are preferred I would request 60's closest to Classic Hall.

If you are standard and want lakeview I root for either 50's or 60's lakeview

There are also Standard rooms in the 60's section if you would like to try to get a close as possible w/ standard ! And basically if you are preferred those buildings are 70's, 60's and 50's. Hope this helps! Our last visit we had a standard room and requested 50's or 60's and ground flr poolview and we got all 3 we were in the 50's ground flr poolview it was great! This time we are preferred and requested 60's groundfloor poolview. The kids love late nite pool swims!!

Great minds think alike. :thumbsup2 I requested ground floor, pool view, and 5o's or 60's - I was told I could not get 60's because preferred room was not offered on our package - but I hope hope hope we get the other request. Although the CM made it a huge point to tell me "You realize these are only request, You may not get them." So far she has been the only unenthusiastic CM I've had to deal with on ths whole trip planning.

We just got back last night from our short trip to WDW. We loved Pop. The Food Court is great, the easy of the re-fillable mugs were wonderful. The Cast Members were so nice. I have to say they were nicer then some at the Boardwalk (we were there last year). Love the music, its up beat which I think helps to keep you in a great mood. Wish they had a few more songs in their rotation, after 5 days you do get sick of the same songs. So we ate outside, which was nice.

Only went into one pool, the Dippy Pool I think. It was nice.

We had two rooms, the first night we had a two doubles beds room in the 90's. It was a bit of a walk if you have a bad back like I do. The rest of the nights we had a king bed in the 80's. Closer which was nice. I love the 80 buildings. The king rooms do have more floor space which comes in handy. We had three big suite cases and in the doble bed rooms, it was tight.

As for the beds, they are not good. In fact it could stop us from staying there again, which is sad because we do love this hotel. It was perfict for us. I have a bad back and the beds made it worst. My husband who doesn't have a bad back, had back pain. His thoughts are the double beds were better for his back then the king.

The buses were great, on time, we never waited at the hotel longer then 10 min. At the parks, I say we waited no longer then 15 min. Which was amazaing, at Boardwalk in 03 and 08, we waited for ever for the buses, which is why we didn't go back there.

Oh and when we switched rooms, they did it for us. They asked when our luggage would be ready the morning of the move. They then came, got the luggage, we didn't need to be in the room for this. Then when we got back at the end of the day, our luggage was in our new room. I was shocked at the great service. At Boardwalk last year, we moved rooms three time(it was our wedding/honeymoon). To move our luggage, we had to do it ourselves or call a bell man, which means we had to be there and hassle with it. I had a hard time beliving that we were getting better service at a value resort then we did at a delux. Which is great for value resorts, but sad for delux resorts.

Would we stay there again, if the beds were better, then hands down we would. We love Pop. We wont be back to WDW, for at least 4 years, so here is hopeing the beds get better. If they don't, we may look and see what people are saying about the beds at moderate hotels, if it doesn't look good, we will rent a car and stay off property. Not sure I will spend the money to stay at a delux hotel, when the services isn't as good as value.

Glad you had a great time at POP! We just bought DVC so this will probably be our last trip to the values. I will say that I have been hearing complaints about the new KING size beds over at OKW. People are complaining they are really, really hard. Was this your problem? I think Disney has gotten in with a bad manufacturer for the King beds. I think this stinks because it does make a difference for people. Did you ask for an egg crate thingy??? And more importantly did you complain?? I hate complaining myself, but it is looking like there are many, many complaints about these king beds.

Cmbar, the king bed was hard, but what was worse is you could feel each spring you were laying on. I wish I would have known not to ask for a king. Due to the bed hurt my back even more, now I have a bad back so I don't blame Pop or the bed, but my back was so bad, I had to rent a ECV from Walker, due to I couldn't walk far and was in so much pain. Again this is a life long problem, but I think the bed and traveling in general activated this, where if the bed had been better, I may have had no major problems. I always have back pain, but things can agravate it.

I never knew about the egg creak thing. We did call down for 6 -9 extra pillows, my husband said that his wife scolossis, was acting up. It was midnight when we called, but they said the hotel was full and they weren't sure they could find extra pillows.:scared1: Doesn't make sences to me that a hotel wouldn't have extra pillows, but okay. They never offered the egg crate thing. It would have helped. I was asked if I wanted a back board to make the bed harder, I was shocked. It was hard enought.

We didn't complain because I thought it was just me and bad timing. Sure the bed didn't help. But now that I know that others are having problems. I'll let Pop know. I really do love this hotel and would love to stay there again, if they could get better beds.

my DH had a hard time with the king bed too...we were in building 1 in the 50's section. I have a bad back but had no problems with the bed. DH rarely has any back pain and he was dying after a couple of days. He was fine once we returned home and he was back in our own bed so I have to imagine it was the bed that caused his pain.
I thought the bed was very soft, instead of very hard :confused3

Well it is only a request but from what I understand they do try their best to work with your request but of course they can't always give everyone their request thats why the reinterate that it is only a request. I would suggest 5 days prior to fax a note of your request attn room assigner if you goto www.allearsnet.com their are some examples on there! I did this before our 2 stays at Pop and got my requests both times! May have been luck but it's worth a shot! You can also ask when you check in what room / section you are in and if it's not what you requested you can ask the cm to check and see if anythng is available in the section you requested:thumbsup2. But I tell you the room we had in the 50's was apprx 10 footsteps to the bowling pin pool! And not much of a walk to Everything Pop/ Classic Hall! :goodvibes I just really would love to try the 60's section then the 70's and I would definitely take 50's if I couldnt get those requests it was a great section!

I'm thinking of requesting a "quiet" room for our labor day trip. Any guesses on where we'd wind up, if that's all I request. Or, should I request a particular section or just let the fate g-ds decide? What do you think? PS how are the mattresses???

I would request Lakeside as that is usually quiet !!Of course you could be a distance from the food court! Pop got new mattresses last year so they should be good !!!

Thank you for the reply. maybe I will request, Lakeside near parking? Since we will have a car. I took my kids to WDW in Jan. but I can't wait to get back:rotfl:! My sis lives out of state, so I talked her into visiting with me there! I think I am driving her crazy as she is not into the planning details, like me :confused3? We go in Sept. so last night I looked up hurricane historical data for that time of year. I hope we get lucky weatherwise. Hey anyone stayed at POP during a hurricane - what was it like?

Thanks for the encouragemnet and the advice Goofy::hug: I do know it is only a request and actually I'm sure it won't ruin my trip if I don't get anything I requested; I guess it was just the way she said it. After all the great phone assistance I've had so far, she was just more on the rude side.:sad1: But I will try faxing a letter to the room assigner. It couldn't hurt.:thumbsup2

Thank you for the reply. maybe I will request, Lakeside near parking? Since we will have a car...

Unfortunately this isn't a formula that can be requested. All parking is at the front of the property, and the lake is at the back of the property. You may want to check out the propery map in Post #1 to give you an idea of the layout and distance.

I'm just back from two weeks at Pop Century. It was my first time ever to Walt Disney World....
.....I would say the only slight negative is that the smokers area has been situated right at the entrance to the Classic Hall - so you have to go through a mist of smoke at times in order to get into the food court or to go to the buses.....

I'm thrilled that you had a great time, Geeg, and it was worth the flight across the pond!

I thought we have had a few reports that the smoking area on the backside of Classic Hall that was up against the building had been eliminated. That's not to say that repeat visitors may not have noticed that it's no longer a designated location, but I wanted to ask all of you coming back for clarity around that. If it *IS* still officially a smoking spot, then I'll modify Post #1.
