The pin code I got was for kids (ages 3-9) stay, play and eat for free. It's for 4 nights/5 days. The price quoted in the mail I got was for a value resort, but I did call and check the price for a mod. The value was much better for us! With only 5 days, we won't be at the hotel much.

I got that PIN today too. The AP rate is a better deal for us.

We are not driving...we drove 7 years ago and hubby says never again!!! ?I moaned the whole way...it was too long for me...us brits dont like to drive at all let alone 16 hours!!! when we hit Florida I was so relieved only to find out we had the same drive again!!!! I hated every minute of it..so we are flying down, direct flight only 1hour 50 mins..perfect!
I have been in houston for 11 years now (i only came for 2 years!!) but we have 2 little Texans now so we are staying until they kick us out!! We do have our green cards now though so they might keep us.;)
The reason my quote says in Texas for my sins is its hotter than hell here!!! I think Im being primed for where Im going when I die..hehe You know us Brits dont take the heat well...it takes us a week in the sun to go from blue to white!! But I do love it here, its a nice place to raise a family. We are north of houston in a place called Spring...much quieter and woody, very pretty.
My youngest baby is 11 months (Ben) oldest 7yrs (Tommy), this will be Bens first trip and I know he will love it..hes such an easy going baby.
Your little grandaughter is just adorable!! they do look about the same age.
I will definitly let you know if I get my gold dubloon!!! fingers crossed!!:thumbsup2

Oh, I do understand about the heat, having spent 38 yrs in New England. I've many friends on the Uk and family in Scotland. :)

Thank you!! My grandbaby is just about 8 mos now and a sweetie! Don't you think this age just gets cuter by the day!! I bet your Ben is precious!

Don't know if I could handle the Texas heat - my son lived in Austin and have friends in Houston - can you say HOT & HUMID??? UGH!!

Nice short flight for you - perfect! It's only about 90 mins from here in NC - rather than the almost 3 hours from Boston. :)

You have a friend in San Antonio too! ;)

Hi guys...9 days and counting...this may have been asked before but has anyone tried the online reservations check in? I was wondering if its worth it or not, our flight gets in late in the evening and I didnt want the rooms left that were not nice (if thats at all possible)...this is our first time at POP so we dont know what to expect...normally when we book hotels we always get the rooms with the dumpster outside or the brick wall.(hubbys comment.."but it was a nice brick wall"..hehe), this time I payed for preffered so hopefully it will be nice...anyhooo..anyone tried the online check in I would love to know if its worth it or not, if it is I will try it tonight:)..thanks in advance.

Checking in online won't matter which room you get. It's best to have it on your reservation before you go.

I thought about a standard room but hubby and 6yr old plan swimming late at night then running back to the room...I will be most likely in the room with the baby so I wanted a room near the pool if possible..thank you for the information, im pleased to know there are no disney brick walls!!! (although knowing disney the wall would have lit up and played small world or something similar. Im not going to bother checking in online..Im like you, I prefer to speak to someone in person and as long as there are no bad preffered rooms Im ok with that.
Just one other crazy question...incase our room is on the third floor, are there elevators? I dont fancy hauling the stroller up and down stairs??

We always asked for 1st floor, poolside, 60's and the last 2 years have gotten it. I like beng right next to the pool. We do alot of running in and out while swimming.

I just got a PIN CODE for dining, even though I already have it booked.... do you think that rate might be lower than what I got? Do they even do that? I booked direct through the site and somehow ended up w/the pin code!?! :confused3

I got that email too. Is it letters for the code? Thats what I got. I think it's basically the public general code, but I think they are doing much more advertizing of it this year. I also got the pin code in the mail for May with the kids stay, play and eat free. I didn;t think it was that great of a deal. but if I was going then I would use it. LOL! But don't kids basically stay free anyways? I don't think the room will be any cheaper. And dining is only $10 a day for kids, so it's not alot, unless you have several kids or staying a long time. But still better than nothing. The ticket deal is decent though.

I'm so glad for people like you. I'd DIE if I ever got that room. Honestly, I would just hate it. It's so great that everyone likes different things. Whenever we go to a hotel that has poolside rooms, we're always like "Can you believe people pay MORE for these rooms?"

I finally worked out how to work photobucket!!! yay.

Congrats! :thumbsup2 It's really cool to use and there's so much I haven't even found or figured out yet!

We wanted to go, but found out too late about it. What part does he have?
Just got back! He is just one of the guys - you know, Danny's "gang". No lead or anything, but he still had a lot of fun with it. And yes, it's the same son who's going to WDW with me, so hopefully you'll meet him sometime!

I've been following this thread for a few days.. Thanks to everyone for the great info!!! :thumbsup2 We booked for a few days at the beginning of October. This will be our 1st stay at POP. We are really looking forward to it!!!!:)

I posted this on the Resort Forum but then thought I should post this on here too, for all the POP experts! :goodvibes

Does anyone know what the approximate cost is for Milk or OJ by the gallon or half gallon at the Everything POP grocery section? We would like to have cereal for breakfast if it isn't too expensive to buy the milk there and I need to have OJ to take with my prenatal vitamins. Thanks for any help you can offer! :thumbsup2

Ooooooooo that was me last year...taking the OJ with the prenatal vitamins...I was 6 months when I was there!!! We are now heading back in 7 days with the baby for his first trip! Many congratulations to you both!!!!..I was looking at photos last year of me and my bump..sometimes I miss having it! I dont remember the OJ being that expensive but what we did (we/I was naughty) was get breakfast at the mcdonalds right outside the resort some mornings...!!! They sold an awesome giant fresh OJ with hotcakes or mcmuffin..mmm no wonder I put on so much preggy weight!! but hey I was on vacation right? I also bought some bottles in minute maid fresh OJ from the shop and had it in ice in the ice bucket in the room and it was fine along with cereal tubs I bought out of Target that you just add milk to.
Have a wonderful vacation and just think ..next year you will be coming with baby for their first time...how exciting for you!!:flower3:

I agree. I'm so happy so many don't like those rooms, so it gives me a better chance at getting them! :lmao:
That area has become home to us. But I may in the future go standard and ask for a 50's, 1st floor pooliside room and try that out as well.
Our first stay we were back by the lake in the 70's and I liked it, but it was a far walk to everything and it was chilly that trip so we had to make a md dash to the pool and back. :)

According to the first page of this thread:

half gallons of cow's milk are available for purchase in the Food Court in fat free, 1%, and whole milk varieties; as of January 2008, the price was $2.99

Last year, we stayed at Pop & had Garden Grocer deliver some milk, cereal & a case of bottled water to our room. We paid for a fridge & ate breakfast in. As much as I loved Pop, the food court was pure chaos in the morning, as that's the one meal everyone eats there.
Have a great time!

Has anyone done online checkin at POP?

I was unable to do an effective search to find out reviews of it at POP. I was reading one trip report where they said that there wasn't a separate line for online check in:confused3, they just had the sign sitting there, but didn't separate things, which kind of negates the whole purpose. I'm hoping that is taken care of by the time I go because I'd like to use it.

Was that my trip report? LOL! Because I posted that same thing. I have heard others have gotten not a seperate line now. Not sure if it is constantly happening or not now though. I really don't think that it is really a whole lot faster.
At this point and time, I don't think it is for us.

When We checked in on March 20th, there was a separate line. There wasn't anyone in it, though, so it was pretty easy to miss.

Hi! I really enjoy the pool room too! In September I stayed in the 50's building about two rooms off the stairs closest to the main building it was soooo quiet.
I stayed in ASMu last summer ground floor, pool view, it's what I requested and it was a NIGHTMARE :scared1::scared1::scared1:! So very very loud into the wee hours of the night.. I could not sleep. I was actually doing the happy dance the one night it poured rain on our vacation because all pool side activities were cancelled an no one swam late at night.

So after my long rant.. sorry!:goodvibes I do really enjoy the room's proximity to the pool but don't like the noise.. how was the noise level in the 50's buildings poolside? Do they blast music at that pool like they do at the 60's pool? No night time activities there right? Last few times I stayed in the 50's I was either on the back of the building or on the 4th floor during off season so I don't remember. Any help would be soooooo appreciated since this is where I would like to request my room for this summer. thanks! :goodvibes
