Day 4
Mom and I had made plans to meet up with antss and disneymiss at Epcot so we wanted to get an early start. Since we were going to be out most of the day and I had a surprise in store, I needed to figure out how to give it to her. My sisters had decided to get in on the act and give their mothers day gift to her on our trip. I had a mothers day card from them and put the surprise inside. All that was left was to figure out where to leave it so she would see it before we left. We were up at 6 am this morning. I quickly got dressed so that when my mom went in to take her shower, I could leave the card. I searched all over the room for a good place and she had her bag for the park almost packed so I leaned the card up against there and tried to hide the smile on my face. When she came out, I went to the vanity area so I wouldnt smile at her and give it away. From the other room all I heard was this girl is always up to something! I gave a stupid huh? She asked what it was and I told her that it was from her other daughters and she went to open it.
She read the card but wasnt quite sure what the surprise was and then realized that there was a brochure inside as well.
As a treat, my sisters booked Cirque Du Soleil. My mom and I both have always wanted to see this show and she was overwhelmed with excitement. I told concierge 6 months ago that I needed tickets and they booked some fantastic seats for us. When I got to Disney, I grabbed a Cirque brochure to put in the card. It was great!
We made it to breakfast by 7:15 and arrived at Epcot by 8:15. Pretty early for us! Antss had just texted us to say she overslept so to head in. We met up with disneymiss and decided to meet up at Soarin. I had only 3 things to accomplish this morning
..to get my mom on soarin, mission space, and test track
all of which she has never ridden. When we met up with antss, she didnt want to ride mission so we sent her off with our tickets to get FPs for soarin while mom, disneymiss and I rode. We had to coax disneymiss on but we finally won her over. We chose the green side. Mom loved it. She were all laughing before we even got on because when they line you up inside in front of the monitors and they give you the safety briefing and how people with a fear of closed in spaces shouldnt ride
the people lined up next to us disappeared before we even noticed. It was too funny and mom was starting to have second thoughts. She did get on and within minutes was enjoying herself. Somewhere in there she yelled yee ha! and disneymiss and I had to remind her that we were in a space shuttle not on a horse!
We met up with antss and we all headed over to test track. Mom was a little scared as she didnt know what to expect but she loved it. During the road test, her neck jerked and she was so afraid that it would do it again that she held her head the whole ride (this would explain the ride photo).
It was time for our FP to soarin. I was a little afraid of taking mom on this ride as she is not fond of heights
and of course since I didnt think I would get her on it again, we waited for the front row. Once in her seat, mom held on for dear life. She was cool at first. But as the ride went on, she got more and more stiff and I tried to talk to her but she told me to leave her alone
she was trying to concentrate and not think of how high we were. It was quiet and she was settling in when we got to the part with the fireworks. Unfortunately, that is where it went south. The big bang scared her and in the pleasant silence in the room, you heard someone yell OH SH**! Yep, that was my lovely mom. Immediately following, you heard all these little giggles (most coming from antss and disneymiss next to us). Again, mom apologized to the parent sitting next to her and her child. When we were lowered down, the ride attendant in the front couldnt stop laughing. It was pretty funny!
Mom and I wanted to make a stop at AKG and knock out a few attractions. We parted from the girls and headed over to the buses. We hit Its Tough To Be A Bug first and unfortunately got stuck at the end of the row and some of the effects didnt work on us but still a cute show as always.
We starting to get hungry and decided to share lunch at Flame Tree. I had never eaten here but others told me to try the ribs. Im not a huge rib fan but my mom is and since this is her trip, I went along. They were pretty good actually. We shared the rib platter which came with coleslaw (yuck) and baked beans and a side of onion rings. The meal was good but I could have done without the ducks. There were signs everywhere asking people not to feed the birds but of course, some dont listen and they were everywhere trying to get a bite. I checked the time schedule and Nemo the musical was about to start. This was another attraction that mom had never seen. She really liked the show but we were getting pretty tired and needed to head back to the resort to rest. Of course I couldnt get that song out of my head the rest of the trip
.in a big blue world
..okay Ill stop! Mom wanted to stop in a couple of gift shops on our way back to the buses. I couldnt wait to get back to our lodge.
We stopped by the concierge lounge for a plate of cookies and chips and grabbed a soda. I took a quick nap in the room but had to soon get back up to get ready to head to downtown disney for cirque. We headed out to the bus stop and the bus took forever!!!!!!!!!!!! They said to be there at a certain time to pick up our tickets at will call and I was imagining a huge line. I was getting antsy and after approx 30 minutes of waiting, the bus finally showed up. We of course ended up with the slowest driver in the world. He was out sight seeing
didnt this man know we had somewhere to be. Definitely my mistake for not taking a taxi in the first place. I will definitely next time! He stopped at the marketplace first. He sat there for a minute talking to another cast member and then finally pulled out. Because we were in a hurry, it seemed to take forever to get to the west side. When we got off the bus, I was surprised that we were still so far away and felt even worse for not putting mom in a taxi. I told her to walk slow and showed her where the box office was and then I took off to grab our tickets. Turned out I didnt need to worry. There was no line and the show wasnt sold out. We had time for a quick restroom break before heading in. I wish we could have taken photos to explain what we saw but in a word
..AMAZING. Like nothing either of us have ever seen before. It was so good and we had great seats
.4th or 5th row from stage in the center. It was fantastic.
We poked around the gift shop a little and then headed to dinner. We had reservations at Raglan Road.
We only had a short wait and were seated quickly. I ordered the chicken pot pie, which was really good and mom ordered the beef stew. There was something in the stew she wasnt crazy about so being the good daughter I am, I let her taste mine and she really liked it so we switched dinners. We ordered dessert though not sure why we both ordered one as we were getting full. I had the bread pudding and mom had the berry tart with ice cream. Both were really good but we didnt even make a dent in them. After dinner we did some shopping and then limped to the bus stop. Feet were killing me! We were exhausted. A full day but a great one! We talked for a little bit about how great the show was on the way back to the lodge. I remember kicking my shoes off but that was it until I woke up the next morning.
