The google ad banners when you open threads...

I am thinking that as well...my DH has every possible virus protection on all our computers..hence I think that is why they are not showing up!!! :thumbsup2

The content we type into posts on a thread is part of the DIS database and the processes used to filter for words and stuff sweeps that database comparing strings of characters for matches on what is prohibited. The ads are displayed in your browser but are not actually present on the DIS website probably but only dynamic links to a database that exists on the Google servers. So no filter on the DIS would have an effect on the content on another website since those ads are just "links".

ok well now I see banner ads on the top of each board from google. I wonder if whe I run all of my spyware junk it just gets rid of it or something.

It is pretty funny what is allowed in ads, considering what words are banned. Good thing there's not an ad for Viagra.

I noticed several potty training ads on some threads I was reading, but I thought Google somehow knew that my youngest son was pooping his pants (can I say pooping?).

When you open threads, at the bottom and top of the page are three small boxes with ads in them...they usually pertain to something mentioned in the thread. If you open the "Issues with a coworker" thread, on the first page, the ads are funny...in a smelly, stinky kind of way.

I see no ads.

If you run the Serenity Green color scheme you can't see the ads.

If you do see an ad with questionable content, please alert a mod or webmaster so we can make sure that google doesn't put that one through again :)

Thanks!

I would have said the same thing because I had a problem with those ads when I was on the regular color and when I changed to the serenity green they disappeared until (ironically) today. So I changed again, this time to the SD colors. Weird.

I use the Cruise colors and don't see the ads.

thanks for clearing that up! I do use the serenity green theme. I thought I was going  there for awhile.

No Viagra but I've got potty training now.

Thanks for the explanation. I don't have a problem with the ads and they do not offend me, they are sort of funny. But, I guess I just assumed they were pre-approved or something and it had me scratching my head.

I had no ads until this morning. The mods must have changed it so the serenity green now has advertising. :sad1:

NEver noticed the ads were related to the thread theme...wow!!!

by the way - aren't those ads annoying!!

Yep, Serenity Green has ads now ;). If you can handle Christmas 24/7/365 the holiday theme is still banner free. :rotfl2:

I don't see any ads :confused3 , But I have a pop up blocker.

Does that matter?
