The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

Hi all! :wave2:

I've been trying to keep up with you guys. :goodvibes I've been staying busy making hats.

Do you remember my friend who was unhappy with the hats I made her? Well, she struck again! She wanted a hat for her MIL. I made one, but she didn't like the color. So I made her another one and she didn't like the yarn. It was, by the way, the same yarn as the first one. Argh!!! Where is the "banging my head against the wall" smiley when you need it!

As of right now, I've spent $25 on yarn for a hat I'm charging $18 for. Does anyone else see the problem here???

I'm trying not to take it personally.

Thanks for letting me vent. :goodvibes

How's this?
sAng_banghead.gif
or this one??

I think you should just tell her no more hats if she asks in the future. Or, make her go buy the yarn for the hat, so she can feel it and see the color!:sad2:

That's a fantastic idea! :thumbsup2 Imagine her surprise when she rejects the handmade hat and has to go buy more yarn for another hat! I'll bet that will cut down on those rejected projects really fast! Alesia, what a patient friend you are!!! :cutie:

My DS just left for school. After school, he, his best friend, a girl from school, and her parents are heading down to Missoula (2 hours away) to go to a Nine Inch Nails concert. We don't expect him home until 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning. sigh.

DS is 17 and he is the sweetest natured boy you could meet. But, he has a penchant for music I am not familiar with. He said his best friend comes from a christian family and they think he is the devil for taking their son to such a concert. I guess 'best friend' recently turned 18 and they don't feel they can stop him from going, even though they really want to.

My only concern is his safety. We wouldn't let them go unless adults were going with them. I think this kid is making my grey hair multiply by leaps and bounds! :rotfl:

He didn't take a camera so I hope one of the others has one. He will kick himself if he comes back without photos. :guilty:

No worries Mt:hug: He will be fine. I have been to many concerts (that would give you gray hair just by looking at the band  ) and I am always amazed how well behaved people are! People seem to mind their own business and enjoy the show.

I think people have a preconceived notion about "headbanging" or metal bands and their fans. I can see guys moshing and slamming into each other on the floor and afterwards, they high five each other, or even hug each other and laugh! They are enjoying themselves.

I can almost bet half of the crowd will be adults at a NIN concert.

:flower3:

Thanks, that's good to hear. He just seems so young! :sad1: But I would rather he got some of the thrills under his belt before he leaves home.

Hi
Everyone
Just stopping in to say hi. Mt do not worry about your son he will be fine. DD goes to so many concert that I have learned to try and not worry so much.

Alesia I agree with everyone. Make her buy the yarn. I would also explain to her that what she is doing is costing you alot of time and money

Thanks for helping me to calm down. Now, I am excited for him and can't wait to hear about the concert when he gets home. My worrying about the kids when they are away from home just drives me nuts....but, that's the kind of Mom I am. :confused3

Make her go out and buy the yarn (choosing texture and color)... and tell her she can pay you to make it...

Hi Freaps! We got back late last night from our Smokies trip. We had an awesome time except for the timeshare presentation. We were told 60-90 minutes and so didn't eat breakfast beforehand or anything and it last 3 1/2 hours!!:scared1: It was just like the South Park episode where they all went to Aspen for the free skiing weekend and the parents were trapped in timeshare he** the entire time.:lmao: They just wouldn't take "no" for an answer and kept coming back with "better" offers. I told the lady over and over that we were not going to buy PERIOD. I also told them if I was ever to buy a timeshare it would be Disney.:wizard: The salesman said, "Oh, but Disney only has three resorts and your contract is only for 15 years." That right there convinced me that I couldn't believe anything else they said.:sad2: I know they are trying to sell their product but an outright lie doesn't work for me.:confused3 But, the good news was they did let us stay in a 2 bedroom deluxe condo which was incredible.:cool1: So we got two nights in the condo and $50 Bass Pro Shop gift card for $59. Not a bad price even with the morning of misery during the presentation. We did lots of fun stuff like ice skating, riding the tram, a hike in the NP and the Dollywood Christmas. Hopefully, I can get DH to download the photos while I'm at work tonight. I still haven't even shown ya'll our new puppy.:sad2:

I am glad you guys had fun. When we went to Disney a few years ago and stayed off site we went to one. They told us it was 45 minutes and we would get a 200 gift card. So we went. After 45 minutes I said Okay I will take my gift card now and they said but we are not done. I told yeah but I am and the paper says 45 minutes. So they gave me the gift card so we would leave. :rotfl2:

I guess DH and I are just true Southerners. Neither of us could ever just leave while someone is talking to us, :confused3 no ,matter how annoying and stubborn they are.:lmao: We've learned our lesson though. No timeshare presentations until we are truly ready to buy something.

Maybe it will be one of those trip memories where you will remember the fun and laugh about the sales pitch from heck! :goodvibes

You guys were right. I haven't had a chance to talk to DS about the concert run until this evening. I passed along what you had posted and he said you knew what you were talking about. :goodvibes He said most of the people at the concert were in their 30's but some were older. He had a great time. He & his friend took pictures of each other with his cell phone camera and he recorded a few minutes of the concert. He is still beaming from ear to ear when he talks about it! :rotfl:

He told me there were enough open seats that they moved around and sat in different areas and got different views of the concert. :confused3 Interesting. Anyway, he had a great time, has a positive memory, and came home safe. :hippie:

Susan-sounds like he had a great time. I used to be a concert junkie when I was a teen. I'm sure my mom worried a lot but I always came home safe(you don't want to know about the "sound" part:laughing: ).

Hey Freaps, my DH finally downloaded all our pictures so you are going to get some puppy pics and some vacation pics from the Smokies.

Here is our little Perle just a couple of days after we got her. Her legs are a whole lot longer now but she's still a cutie.:hippie:

Here is a pic of the kids at Dollywood. It was super cold but we had a great time.

And here we are on a hike just two days later and it was about 40 degrees warmer.:scared1:
