The Golf Cart Thread

Wow that is a awesome cart. I know my pockets are not deep enough for that. But I like the idea of droping the Vanguard in my cart:thumbsup2

Hmmmm, I have a whole shop full of 69 Camaro parts.... and a welder.... hmmmm[/QUOTE

You can do it man.

I have a 2003 E-Z-Go Textron (IIRC) that is stock in the running gear dept. Can I add 2-6 volt batteries and get more power on hills and more speed? It really slows on the bridge between the meadows and the dog park and everybody passes us like we were sitting still even on level grade with a full charge. I probably need new batteries, but if it would make a difference I would just go ahead and buy two more. I really can't justify (or afford) a new motor and controller and new batteries considering the only time we use it is when we go to Ft. Wilderness. But if/when I do buy a new motor and controller I will spring for the fastest thing I can find to make it worth it.:flower3:

First thing is.. If your batts are old never try to change just a couple change them all it will kill the new ones fast. As for speed and torque you need a good HP motor with a bigger amp controller you will be able to climb anything at the fort even the huge hill when entering the campground to the right by the maint dept.

Thanks for the rapid reply. I was thinking in terms of buying 8-6 volt batteries instead of buying 6.

I guess I'm just going to have to save up until after we move which will probably be next spring with the housing market what it is.

Any suggestions on what type motor and controller I should get for an E-Z-Go? I visited a booth at an RV show this spring and the rep looked in her catalog and found a motor that didn't require a new controller. I forgot the horsepower, but it was up there with the ones that did.

To go from 36 volt to 48 volt will cost you will have to do more then just add two more batts.

Tugpo...D&D motor systems says their 400amp controller will make my cart go up to 22mph without changing the motor....is this possible? Or are they just trying to sell products?
Heres the a copy of the chart:
318166d0.jpg

It says it "vehicle speed 22mph" and right above that it says"normally 12-14 mph"....AND will give a 20% increase in torque. The torque I can believe, but do you trust these guys as far as what they are claiming for speed?
I blew my controller trying to hook up a motor that I shouldnt have been trying to hook up and will be needing a new controller anyway...and if this does what it claims...Im upgrading to this.

As long as this is turning into the get free advice from tungpo1 thread, I have a question also. :rolleyes1

We have a loud irritating squeak coming from the back underneath, can you give us a couple of things that would cause this, and solutions?

Depends on what you have right now

What make, model cart do you have?

48v clubcar, regenII....original motor. curently does 12mph. No lift kit, no back seat, no oversized tires....mainly flat terrain.

I highly doubt 22mph with just a controller change with your stock motor. The controller might give you a couple of more mph but its main purpose is torque.

Thanks....I FIGURED it sounded too good to be true.

1) Pull off your brake drums and check out the pad condition as well as the brake drum
2) Make sure you tighten the nut on your brake drum super tight and replace to codder pin.
3) check all rear tire lug nuts and tighten

These are the most common things that will cause rear noise. I just hope its not a rear bearing, but try these items first.
