The Golf Cart Thread

Michael...it looks gooood man. Paint gun or rattle can? From these pics, I cant see a single flaw. Great job, buddy!!!

We had a little 4th of July gathering at my in laws neighborhood and they had a golf cart decorating contest.

I have 2 carts (Club Car & an EZGO PDS) so we decked them out and entered them.

Here are some pics (BTW both carts tied for first place !!!)

Here are some pics (the trophy is in the middle) along with my daughter and nephew getting the trophy.

We all had a great time. :goodvibes

Thanks. It was the trusty old rattle can. Krylon Sun Yellow from Wal-Mart. 6 coats of white primer, (to cover the red paint) 3 coats of yellow, 2 coats of clear and a lot of wet sanding with 600 grit paper. Its not perfect but it came out better then my white cart.(which I will be repainting before my next trip to FW) My dad is real happy with it and so am I. The guy that lives next door to us owns a body shop and he would not paint it he said its to much trouble.:confused3

You got something to be proud of there........any flames in the future???

If I knew how.:confused3 My DW thought flames would look good on it. She wants to try to paint them on there.(she is crafty like that) She took care of taping things off for me.

Flames here, thanks for asking ROG!! :lmao:

Anywho, cool carts you guys! We bought a cart a few months ago(club car with fold down seat on the back)and it is in excellent condition. I don't think we will personalize it in any way. We use it on our farm and to haul dead chickens in:scared1: ...don't think they would care about any detail work!?!?!?!?!?:thumbsup2

We have a 5th wheel(not a toy hauler) so we don't have any plans to take it anywhere off our property. We live on a large farm so the kids do enjoy riding in it for play but not as much as riding the four wheeler!

How's Gina Rog?

Hope all had a good fourth...just another day at work for us!:sad2: Then again, I like going places during the off season anyway...less crowds and cheaper!:goodvibes

Flame you need a swivel wheel on the back of your 5th wheel to haul your cart to FW. That is what we used before we bought a toy hauler.

My husband won't even haul the kids scooters to the beach or FW(too much trouble..."they can take their bikes!"):headache: I think it has to do with...more weight less gas mileage!:confused3

I don't think I could get him to change or buy or whatever he would need to change the hitch just to take the cart!:confused3
Besides that fact, the only other place we would use a cart would be Myrtle Beach and Pirateland won't let you bring your own.

Oh yeah, not to mention he is actively trying to sell the camper as we speak as well as his new truck, the farm, the dog, the kids....no takers on me yet, guess he'll have to pay someone to take me off of his hands!:lmao:

Good luck sound like you are going to need it.

I am pretty used to it. He is not happy unless he is buying, selling or trading something!;)

Every day he says he is going to sell something different. Today it was his truck. His brother wants(NEEDS) a new one and called tonight to get the login info for GM's website to find one. He is considering offering his to him. We bought it new in summer 07 and got 3 years no interest. It is a 2007 4wd dually and it is really nice except the nappy seat covers.:scared1: With no more than we owe on it, his brother would get a good deal by taking over payments!

It always seems as though we either break even or usually end up losing money on all of our "deals"!!!:rotfl: :confused3

Yeah I am always looking for a new truck and wishing I had my old truck and that is with no matter what truck I own.:confused3

Must be a man thing Michael;) ...think I will sign off and stop taking over y'alls thread now! :thumbsup2

Have a good night!:goodvibes

Well, hotdang.........TheFlame is a "Farmers Wife"....something kinda sweet about that!!! Gina's hobbling around just fine these days, she's getting very used to the crutches, and she LOVES those little electric carts she gets to use at WalMart & Target now...she said shes going to keep the crutches and brace when they take it off so she can keep using the scooters in the stores!!! She was using the crutches to pick up the toys on the floor last night!!! Shes a determined lil'wench!

Michael, I wish we lived closer to each other...I'd come over and we figure out some way to flame that sucker but good!! Between TxTink's crafty skills and my sick imagination, we could do it up right wicked!!!!

Flame,

We use to be the same way. Buy a boat, sell a boat. Buy a camper, sell a camper.

We're finally learning to buy 'em and hang on to them! (and our bank account thanks us!) :rotfl:

Now if gas prices were better, I'd feel a whole lot better about owning the gas guzzlers that we drive!

Glad to hear that Gina is getting around better! Sounds like she can't stay down for long....picking up toy's with the crutches...that's a determined women! :thumbsup2

I think you could flame that cart pretty easy if you had a sign shop in your area that does vinyl, take some dimensions to them and see what they can come up with, red flames would look sweet on that yellow.

NO ROG...This is a joint venture around here! I am also a farmer...women's can beez farmers too ya know!:rotfl2: Now when we bought our first farm, I WAS NOT a farmer and swore I would never be one! BUT, when I realized I liked being my own boss and wanted to stay at home with my kids, I accepted what was paying the bills real quick! We really enjoy working for ourselves and vacationing when we want. We are tied down alot more than a working man(or woman's) 9 to 5 but it has it's advantages!:thumbsup2

Glad to hear about Gina! :yay:

h!

I thought the same thing.:thumbsup2

I thought about that but the shop around here can only do 1 color decals and I would want multiple colors.

If the sign shop could make you some good red flames, just buy a can of that new "rustoleum universal" in orange and sorta dust the tips and edges of the red vinyl decal before you apply it to the cart. That way you'd have a fading effect against the yellow background of the cart.

Or buy some 1/8" masking tape(available at just about any auto paint dealer, or on eBay), and tape off your own flames...being 1/8 of an inch, its pretty easy to curve, then fill in all the blanks with regular 1" & 2" masking tape and/or newspaper. shoot the whole thing with red, then dust your tips with one color, your edges with another. That way you wont have the lip that the vinyl decal will leave.
