We've spoken about garden journals in the past, and whether or not we use them. I've always wanted one, and one of my (easy) New Years resolutions was to get one. Finally, I have it!! :)

It will hold 10 years worth of garden plans, notations, etc., with a wonderful diary area. I can't wait to start it, I just wish I had better penmanship!

The journal is also full of historical tidbits that I'm going to post from time to time under the heading ~ The Gardener's Journal~

Who else has some kind of garden journal, or plans to start one this year? :)

I've always thought it was a good idea but i have never gotten aorund to it!
My hands are always to busy after I garden holding the margarita glass.

My garden journals are done by photos. I take pictures throughout the year and keep them organized in a directory for the current year garden. At the end of the year, I just archive it off to a CD. Makes it very easy to go and look at how something looked or worked. I added brief descriptions to the photos in my 2001 journal via a photo directory software - it is nice to have the additional documentation... but it was more work than I am willing to do on a regular basis. I do label the pics with the date to get a sense of when it was taken.

Laura, I think I've said this before, but I'm happy to say it again....I admire how organized you are!!!! :) It sounds like you have a very cool system worked out. :)

Margarita, Vanessa? I thought it was a jello shot? ;) :)

Hope you have enough for me too! :p

Great minds think alike!

I kinda started a Garden Journal just this week. I got a big ole' looseleaf binder and I punched holes in a lot of the paper information I got via internet and the gardening seminar I went to. I thus far put in three sections: General Info, Lawn Care and Specific Plants.

In the specific plant section, I am keeping information about plants that I have. I plan to divide them into mini-sections in this area of the book and I plan to do as DixieDee did and add photos there and keep track of my actual successes and failures.

My book is not as fancy as yours, Snowwark, but I am very excited about finally starting it. I hope it progresses and I don't end up abandoning the project. (I kinda have a tendency to sometimes not follow thru on things I start) :o
