The Future of the Disney Fantasy

Its a party! Also: I wouldn't be surprised if they were consolidating crew again to go to one of the islands (Curacao or Barbados) to get crew off the ship again like they did a few weeks back.

Fantasy to Europe, Wonder to Curacao.

Dream staying put for now

However it all works out, I hope eventually DCL enters the Asian market. Yes, smoking an issue, etc, but that can be worked out. ABD has guided tours all around Asia and cultivating guides, and the 4 parks are a draw.

Never going to happen for the Asian market, the logistics of replenishing a single ship in a foreign port is too costly for Disney to consider, and additionally, the lack of a casino will be a deal breaker for many Asian guests. IF the Fantasy goes to Europe for crew repatriation and potentially a dry dock to fix her prop vibration issues she won't be doing any revenue itineraries. But return to FL at some point. But again this is ALL speculation. My understanding is virtually all of the ships have the minimum necessary crew to keep the ship operational, so "repatriating" more crew seems to be unnecessary at this point.

There is still crew that need to go home, their contracts ended months ago. Fantasy taking some to England.

Meh. I never say never, and remain hopeful of an Asia cruise of some sort-- maybe a limited one for American guests, maybe something more. But all of this is just MHO of course!

Well, I heard France and I heard England. I picked the wrong one.😁

Any idea what's being done besides addressing the vibration issue?
Don't really know, but it could also be doing some reconfiguration to accommodate new social distancing and safety protocols. Changing Cabanas to cafeteria style serving, rearranged seating in the MDR's and possibly the theaters and bars, and adding more handwashing stations around the ship.

Yes the Dream class ships will definitely fit through the New locks, but as you stated the ship is 217 feet high, and the bridge of the Americas only has a clearance of 201 feet at high tide.

The Dream/Fantasy can pass through the canal. You are correct that the HEIGHT is 217 ft, but the DRAFT (height above water level) is 188 feet. I discussed this with one of the captains once.

I agree that if DCL was to test the waters in Asia they would start with cruises targeted toward American and Japanese guests. Other cruise lines do one way cruises between Tokyo and Hong Kong, usually with stops in Osaka, Shanghai, and Taiwan. Obviously this would be great for Disney fans who could experience all 3 Asian Disney parks in one trip. I would forsee them doing cruise to Hawaii, then a transpacific cruise to Tokyo, then a one way cruise to Hong Kong, then back to Tokyo, and maybe repeat once before returning.
