The Frickles Family goes to Disney! How to Valet Park & Make $100! LAST chap p18!

As we woke up the next morning and I reflected on the great day we had at Epcot, I thought about how my family, meaning my parents and my brothers, always comes with me when I am at the World without them. We always traveled to St. Petersburg Beach in Florida every summer for vacation when I was growing up. It didn’t stop until my parents divorced when I was in my mid twenties. Every other year or so, Dad would make the wonderful stop at Disney for a two day adventure at the end of our beach trip before making the long drive home. We were never there for more than two days. I have thought many times how expensive it must have been for him to take four kids to Disney. I guess that is why he made all of us cram into one room at a Days Inn while we were there. I have three older brothers, so they were all teenagers when I was old enough to really remember our trips. Our last family trip included my parents, two of my three brothers, one girlfriend and yours truly. I am going to guess that I was 10, but I remember that trip vividly. Well, I remember the Epcot part of it at least. Our pictures from that trip include many of my Daddy’s behind. My brother had gotten really irritated with my Dad, so therefore he kept snapping pictures of his A double S since he was “being one“. I get the giggles every time I think about it. Also, my brothers went in to the restroom together and when the youngest figured out the oldest was dropping off the kids at the pool, he held the camera over the stall and snapped a fine photo that to this day, still gives us cramps from laughing so hard at it.

I have many wonderful and fine memories of my trips to the World with my family, and I am so happy that I can do the same for my kids. I was speaking to my brother just the other day about our trip and he said, “you know the neat thing about Disney is that when you walk though those gates, it is like walking back into your past.” My family unit is never going to be the same because there have been so many changes to it. Some good, some bad. However, when I go back, I feel like the little girl who dreamed of being a princess while sitting on her Daddy’s shoulders or holding her Mommy’s hand. I find myself starting my sentences while speaking to my kids with ‘when I was a little girl…’ all the time while we are there. It brings back so many good vibes. I think that is part of the magic for me. It was magical for me when I was little and it is magical to me now when I see my kids having the time of their lives. Hopefully, when they are older they aren’t going to go around taking pictures of my behind while we’re there! Mr. Frick did that to me last year, but for different reasons. Apparently my new sweat pants I had bought kept creeping up on me & he walked behind me and laughed a lot.

OK, back to the story. I’m sure you all want to hear how I made money by valet parking my car. We will be getting there in a few days, so hang with me!

I threw a zip-loc baggie full of clothes, underwear and socks at my boys and got myself ready for Animal Kingdom. We wanted to get there early so we decided to eat there at a bakery/coffee place I had read about rather than going to the POR food court. I started thinking about what a crappy room location we had gotten. It took us forever the night before to drive from the lobby of the hotel back to our mansion. I knew there was no way we could ever walk to get breakfast or walk to the pool given that we were in East Bumble. I started wishing I had done a little more research about room locations at POR. I was far, far away from everything and it made me sad. Good thing we had a car!

We loaded up, Big Frickles remembered to shut his door this time, and we headed to AK.

The last time we were at AK, Big Frickles was 1 and a half and I was 5 months pregnant. It wasn’t so much of a good time so we weren’t too depressed that we missed out on going there in December. This time was different though because Big Frickles and I were super pumped about riding EE!!! I forgot to review my Tour Guide Mike suggestions, but I didn’t worry because I thought crowds would be low. Wrong. It was packed when we got there. The process of getting through the bag check and the front gate was icky. We were also very unfamiliar with this park, so when I wanted to grab our fast passes for EE, I couldn’t just say that I would go alone and then meet them somewhere. The bakery that I wanted us to eat at was on the opposite end of the park as my sweet EE fast pass machine. The whole family had to walk with me. We passed a coffee stand on the way and decided to have big , fat chocolate chip muffins for breakfast. Yummmmy! I parked the family at a table and ran to get our Fast Passes. Again, if you saw a horse running at AK on Sept 29th, that was me. :teeth: Oh seeing EE for the first time was awesome! Disney hides so much of their roller coasters that it baffles me. I like not knowing what is inside or what to expect! I couldn’t wait to ride it!

I rejoined my precious guys who were enjoying a little side show by these boys.
P1000904.jpg

After we finished up our lovely muffins while being serenaded by two loud gorillas, we were off to Kali River Rapids. I was shocked that Lil Frick didn’t chicken out. Pirates scares him to death because of the ‘drop’. I didn’t know anything about Kali other than you take a little raft ride and you get wet, so with that description he was o.k. with it. I keep on talking about YAK’s tips, but she pulled through for me again on this trip! I whipped out the big 5 gallon zip-loc sized bag that she had told us about, and put my backpack, our camera & Mr. Frick’s cell phone in it. I didn’t have to worry about our stuff getting soaked so I was jazzed about that tip. Thanks Yak!

As soon as our boat took off, I saw it. The ramp that takes you up. Oh no. If we were going up, that meant we were coming back down. I worried about Lil Frick. He was going to be mad, mad, mad at me. It turned out that he giggled the whole time! Phew! We loved this ride! Big Frickles and I decided that we wanted to ride again. Mr. Frick said that he was happy with the one ride and Lil Frick declined another go round as well. Since there was no line, Big Frickles and I loaded up for another trip. Lil Frick paid us back for me not telling him about the drop by spraying us like mad when we went under the bridge. Sweet justice for him I’d say. I think that was his favorite part of the trip! He got us good.

After Kali we did some animal trail where you can see these

P1000906.jpg

Now Mr. Frick and I had a great time on this trail. We couldn’t tell you what animals were there because we were too busy watching the girl in front of us. We were hysterically laughing at her choice for an outfit and about the fact that her date let her walk around in it and the fact that she got dressed and then looked in the mirror and thought ‘Wow I look good’. I have her picture downloaded and ready to share, but I just can’t do it. I’ll describe it for you. She was a good size 12 that was squeezed in to a pair of size 4 white, terry-cloth shorts. Her cheeks were hanging out of the bottom of the shorts and she opted for a pair of white bikini underwear rather than a thong that would hide the panty lines. For her top, she chose a triangle string bikini. White. She topped off the outfit with a pink cowboy hat. Uh-huh. Looking good. We caught up with her again while walking to EE and I had to get a picture. Mr. Frick had tears he was laughing so hard and the people behind us were laughing at the fact that I was snapping a photo of her. Bless her. May she get some fashion sense and stop scaring the children with her hanging out hiney.

We were finally clear to ride EE! I wanted to do the Clark run, but I walked slowly with my tired family instead. When we got there, I felt just like Clark did when Wally World was closed. EE was having some technical difficulties. Shoot. I remember Yak’s report where all her daughter wanted to do was ride EE for her birthday and she didn’t get to because of the same thing. I had to remember that the glass is half-full….so we took the boys to DinoLand while we waited.

Big Frickles and I took a spin on Primeval Twirl (funny how Soarin made me sick and that didn’t) while Lil Frick and Mr. Frick flew on a Triceratops. We caught an awesome trampoline show, fought off some love bugs and played a couple of fair ‘I’mgonnatakeallyourmoneyandripyouoffbecauseyoucanneverwin’ games where luckily, the boys each won something. Pixie dust!

We dragged our very hot and very tired selves over to a drink stand where the boys had to have a fan.
Disney2006122.jpg

I didn’t think we would have to buy one of those, but it was smokin hot. We headed toward EE and I knew that if it wasn’t up and running, that we were going to miss out. Thankfully, we could hear the roar of the coaster and the screams of happy riders as we got closer. We left Mr. Frick and Lil Frick to watch a side show with plans to meet them in the EE gift shop. HaHa…I had a chance to run, so we ran. Big Frickles didn’t much want to run…but Clark here wanted to run so we ran. We were loaded up in a car in no time! Panic soon hit me though. JoMomma had told me NOT to put the kids on the coasters. I started worrying about any heart defects that Big Frickles might have. I worried about him freaking out because this was by far the biggest coaster he had ever ridden. I worried about my sunglasses falling out. I worried I was becoming my mother. EEEEKKK!

I looked at my brave and excited boy and decided to put my big girl panties on and just roll with it. I stopped worrying and started giggling with joy as we rock and rolled on that mother. It is the best roller coaster I think I had ever been on. I didn’t really know a whole lot about what to expect, but it lived up to it’s good reviews! Big Frickles loved it and he said “Momma, I saw that Wookie! Did you see the Wookie”. A wookie. How cute is that.

We met up with Mr. Frick and before he and Big Frickles left to ride EE, I made him promise not to tell his Daddy about all the surprises that were in store. They rode it and loved it! Woooo-hoooo! And no one had heart failure!

We headed for Mr. Frick’s favorite ride, the K. Safari. I didn’t get to ride it last time because I was pregnant so I was looking forward to it. Lil Frick freaking hit the floor whenever the fake gun shots were fired near the end. Bless him. Other than that, we all enjoyed it. I totally skipped an ADR we had for Rainforest Café. Four hours at AK seriously wiped us out. We were hot and tired and ready to go back to our most crappily located room in the boon-docks of POR.

Tune in later for an eye-opening Surrey bike ride and MNSSHP!!!

Oh Frick!!! Hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!

Awwww you all are so sweet. Thank you for the kind words. They make this trip report which now feels like a part time job worth it!

NAB, I can't remember exactly where the picture purchasing place was for Test Track, but I am going to have to guess on your left after you walk down the stairs to exit. Remember, that is a good guess.

Thanks for reading you all! :teeth:

Frick.....laugh out loud chapter!!!

Your childhood stories were :rotfl2:

And, you're very welcome again! :thumbsup2

Thankfully, we could hear the roar of the coaster and the screams of happy riders as we got closer.

:cheer2:

I'm so glad for you. Sadly we never did hear those screams the day we were there! I listened. Alot. Next time!

Thanks!

Too funny, Frick, about your brother snapping pics. Of your Dad's behind.

The scenes.

Pictures.

Great chapter.

The WOOKIE!!!!

Yikes.

Hate the Wookie smilie guy. Too.

But... what's wrong with wearing stupid cowboy hats?

I think I'm offended.

Heh heh.

Looking forward to the Surrey Bike escapade.

Cheers, Melly.

I tell my dh to put his big girl panties on and stop complaining all the time. That is one of my favorite snappy comebacks of all time. I was feeling some deja vu reading that. LOL

I think after this last trip I will start a grass roots campaign to have a mirror in every house

I have finally been able to "catch up" with your Trip! Sounds like a blast!

Can't wait to read more!!!

I do recall her being at MK & MGM the last week of August. I captured in on my cell and sent it to my friend!! She died laughing hysterically trying to call me to see if WDW was so magical that you can really go out in public like that!! I just told her that some people are just natural beauties!! (oh yeah and have no shame!!) oh DS10 had to call his friend Jazmine to let her know he had seen. How gross it is for peoples bottoms to be hanging out along with a little extra skin on her tummy!

Truly funny Frickles.

The images you put in our heads..... :rotfl:
At least I know that wasn't me.

Wow, I guess I had better re-think that Lime-Green bicycle short ensemble with the Mickey head on it that I was thinking of wearing.

We walked in to our Port Orleans WayFarAwayFromThe Riverside room and changed into our swimsuits. We were hot and we were hungry. We had no desire to walk the 8 miles it would take to get to the food court and the pool so we hopped in the car and drove. This was the only thing I wasn’t digging about our hotel.

The food court was empty. Sweet! We wandered around looking for something to strike our fancy. I saw the Cheese Steak sandwich and thought about how much Zzub loves it. I think he might have dedicated a whole chapter to it in his TR. I wasn’t feeling too cheesesteakish, so I went for the Taco Salad. If I knew I wouldn’t bore you all do death, I would go in to great detail about how spankin good it was.

After lunch I wanted to plop down in a lounge chair, but the rest of the family was wanting to rent a Surrey Bike. Mr. Frick was seriously pumped about doing this. I couldn’t understand why. We had just carried two children around AK , it was hot, we had just eaten and we still had MNSSHP to go to that night. Didn’t matter. We were going. The gang was excited!

Here we are before the big ride!
Disney2006144.jpg

I lucked out because Big Frickles wanted to pedal with his Daddy. I really wanted to ride in the basket up front, but I knew the fire department would have to come and cut me out of it so I didn’t.

We got directions on how to go from our sweet CM and we were off. First stop, the gift shop for a Red Bull for Mr. Frick. I guess he thought he was going to need a little more energy than he planned on. We took off to the left and saw our first hotel building in Alligator Bayou. I said to Mr. Frick, “Well I guess I should have taken AB after all because look, they are right here on the water and right by the pool!!” Shoot. I knew I was going to ask for a new room closer to the action when we got back.

Mr. Frick said “Look boys, ducks and birds!” I broke out into hysterical laughter. I took a picture of his ‘ducks and birds’ so I would never forget this moment.
Disney2006145.jpg

Yes. Those are little stumps. I have already made him an appointment with the eye doctor.

We scooted along nicely and had a lovely time looking at the scenery around us. POR is gorgeous!
Disney2006149.jpg

We passed all the lucky folks staying in the AB buildings. (by the way, they had bridges over the river that would connect their building to the swimming pool and Food Court. No driving to the pool for them. I was sad.)

Mr. Frick kept on pedaling. By this time he was the only one left pedaling since Big Frickles had ditched the job . We enjoyed seeing more ’ducks and birds’ and then we saw this!
Disney2006150.jpg

THIS was our Mansion area! Acadia! Our building was tucked right in behind this one and I, for the love of being blonde, had no idea we were that close to the action! We were one short bridge walk away from the pool and the food court. What a sweet revelation! I stopped cussing LaLa for leading me to pick a Mansion! ly/mi LaLa!! If we had not taken this little POR tour on the bike, I would have certainly gone to change rooms and they would have known that I was an idiot for not realizing that every building is close in it’s own special way.

We rang the bell, just like many great Dissers before me had rung the bell. Y’all know who you are….Zzub, Mel HappyHaunt, NicoleMarie to name a few. I rang the bell in your honor. Or honour, as Mel would say.
Disney2006148.jpg

Lil Frick is enjoying being in the front by himself!

We made it back to the home base without getting lost or run off the road by a golf cart. Yeah for us! We hit the pool - a.k.a. the swimming hole! It was great fun and the kids enjoyed it! The boys and I swam for a while and Big Frickles and I tackled the slide. Before we knew it, it was time to go and get showered and ready for dinner at Boatwrights and MNSSHP. Guess what. We walked! Oh yeah. We took the bridge over the river and walked right up to our room where we found a (gasp!) pool about 30 yards from our room! Did I say how glad I was that I didn’t go and ask for a better room?

We stopped for pictures in front of Boatwrights. Somehow my cute picture of the boys in their costumes has disappeared so here is one from later in the night. If you can’t tell Big Frickles was a Ninja and Lil Frick is Dale Junior.
Disney2006168.jpg

Disney2006156.jpg

It was really, really hard for Mr. Frick and I to wear orange. Seriously. We really have big issues with Tenn, Fla and Auburn....so to wear this color during football season was super tough to do. It was for Halloween people. No other reason. I went to UGA and Mr. Frick went to Bama. You can see now why this color is so painful for us to wear.

Boatwrights was GOOD!!! We loved it! They have the most awesome onion rings. Not as good as the onion rings you get at the VARSITY in Atlanta, but they are a close second. Obviously I had onion rings for my appetizer and the guys got jumbo shrimp cocktail. For dinner, I had baked chicken and greens and Mr. Frick got Jambalaya. We all enjoyed it! For dessert, our waitress packed us some cookies from the bakery and rice crispy treats because we were ready to boogie on over to the Magic Kingdom for MNSSHP!

You are hysterical!!!!

Girl!! Two great installments!!

Maybe I need an appointment with the eye doctor, too. I thought they were ducks and wondered what was so funny!! :confused3

Your pics are great and so is this hilarious trip report.

By the way, how tall is my girl, Frick? Cause between the size 8.5 shoes and being as tall as your man, I'm thinkin' you tower over little NM.

Not that that matters.

Keep those installments coming! I love it!

NM :sunny:

Frick!!!!

Sweet!!!!!

But.

What is that Mickey pumkin head winking at me, huh??

Why??!!!!!

Yzma and Kronk You all this is YAK! You guys should read her TR! Full of great tips!

1000thhappyhaunt Hi Mel! TFI. There is nothing wrong with wearing stupid cowboy hats. I'm sure you look great in a stupid cowboy hat because I can tell that you can 'work it'. This chick was just so gaudy that the hat put it over the top. It was neon pink. She had bits and pieces hanging out and lapping over. She thought she was smokin :smokin:

MyTalula You can think of me the next time you 'put your big girl panties on'. Or maybe not. :teeth:

UtahMama & jordansmomma I can pm you the picture if you need a good giggle. It seems like you find this kind of stuff funny too!

Grammyof2 Grammy I love you too! I'm sure JoMomma would love you if she knew you. She would even worry about you! ;)

DisneyObsession Welcome and glad you caught up!

VanniGirl & NAB Glad I could give you a giggle!

Goofster57 Lime green bicycle shorts with a Mickey head on them? Yeah, go and ahead and wear them so that some other stranger you don't know will be taking pictures of you and giggling behind your back. Will it be a hidden Mickey?

nicolemarie Hey friend! I am 5'7.5". Let's just say 5'8". So, I'm not freaky tall. Mr. Frick is 5'8.5" on a good day. ;)

Sheridac You are so sweet to visit daily...like within minutes of me posting the next chapter. Thank you for being here & I promise your name is coming up soon!!!!

To everyone else, thank you for sticking around with me and keeping my TR on the first page! I feel honored!
