The Frickles Family goes to Disney! How to Valet Park & Make $100! LAST chap p18!

OHHHHHHH, I want to stay in a mansion too

Frick - I heard all about the noise, turbo toilets, etc at POP before we went. Were the toilets turbo, well just let me say don't be sitting when you flush :rotfl2:
but I swear, my DH hears EVERYTHING and didn't complain once. And we had 3 little ones next door, and one was an infant. Or we were so exhausted we went into coma's. But I would stay there again. The Whirlwinders won't but I would.

And NO PROBLEMS with buses. The transportation at WL was alot slower.

There's nothing like praise for your Disney decisions from other member of the family.

Like one's hubby. Who is not as crazy about all things Mouse. As you are.

Mad props.

But tell me this: Did you ride a Surrey Bike?

At the resort?

And, if so, did you get lost(ish)?

Cheers, Mel.

:moped:

HEY! I heard the design of Port Orleans is the Mansions are from the "masters" quarters and tht Alligator Bayou is the slaves quarters(?). We stayed in the A.B. in Building 14 and were SO close to the soda refill station (dang rednecks!) and a short path to the bus stop! BUT, we loved the decor of the mansions! Very nice!

I think we just may have to stay at the Nick Suites one of these days!!! I have a sweet connection for Holiday Inn. Plus we LOVE SpongeBob and Sandy Squirrel etc. That's a do-able option!!!! Even though we took an oath at Whispering Canyon Cafe not to go to Universal Studios!

OH, I cant resist...."Stayin' Alive in '85!!!!"

This is what we saw when we woke up on the morning of September 27th and what a beautiful sight it was. Yes, I am a crafty girl as you can see I whipped out my bubble letter skills to make our Disney count-down sign. We were ready for a vacation! [/QUOTE]

You crafty Diser's make me so jealous. I have not-a-one crafty bone in my body (unless sarcasm and wit count as a craft?) I once was asked to make some favors for a baby shower. The e-mail read: mama morganic, we know that you are a lame non-crafter, so just make some almonds wrapped in toile. So I head to the local craft store and ask the cashier to point out the toile and she stares at me for an eternity (like 3 seconds!) - and starts :rotfl2: I'm like :confused3 And she says "It's "tool", you fool" I was pronouncing it like "foil." (Sigh) So, I guess I'm going to have to find something easy to do with all these LGMHPC's that I am now the proud owner of.

Great TR, keep it coming. I am have a BLAST reading all of these!!! Thanks for sharing!

Frick!!!

I empathize with you TOTALLY about not spending $$ on yourself.

You gave up BAGS!!!!!!!!!!!

Horrors!!!!

And. I KNOW how VERY worth it. It was. To you.

And. I know how very nice. POR. Is.

Although it was Dixie Landings when I was there. And will be. To me. Forevermore.

Thanks to you sweet people reading my Trip Report!

Some of you have mentioned your desire to check out Nick Suites. Here's my take on it.

It is an awesome place with a boat load of fun activities for the whole family. The food court is wonderful...a bakery and great coffee shop, Pizza Hut, a sandwich shop...and others I can't remember. There is also two restaurants. The pool area is the bomb. We were there for the first time in Dec. '05 & did just what we did on this trip...stayed there for one night. That time we checked in early and then drug the kids away kicking and screaming to go to Sea World for the day. The whole time we were at Sea World, they were begging us to go back to the hotel. I think we stayed at SW for maybe 3 hours. Big Waste. The hotel wasn't crowded because it was the first week in Dec. The rooms were awesome because we had our own room with a nice King bed, closet, TV and dressing area, and the kids had thier own room with bunk beds. In addition to that, we had a living room with a flat panel tv and kitchenette. They do a big Slime Time Live show out by the pool that was thrilling for my little guys. There are other awesome family shows that they do every night that involves Slime action! It is great fun! I don't think that we could stay there for an entire Disney trip because we like the beauty of the Dis resorts and the luxury of EMH. In addition to that, I want a Mickey waffle in the morning for B'fast! There is not one Disney related thing in the place. I think it is GREAT to go to for a day & night so that is why we do it like that.

Mel, you asked about the Surrey Bikes. Girl don't you know that you have to come back and read on to get that answer?!?! :teeth:

Hi Frickles!

I've been lurking on the trip report boards for weeks now and I have chosen your Trippie to make my debut. I'm loving your report and can't wait to hear how the rest of the vacation turned out!

Well thanks Shanon! I'm honored! I see you are leaving soon...I'm jealous!!!

We got back in to our over packed, busting at the seams with luggage, car. You see, we were heading to the beach for five days after we left Disney. We were going to Bald Head Island, NC for a little visit with the In-Laws and a golf tournament. At Bald Head in October, it can be nice and beautiful one day and freezing the next….so needless to say I had to bring a lot of ‘just in case’ clothing. Packing was a nightmare this time, mostly because I am an anal packer. I stress over it, I start early and I have to have everything nice and orderly. Sometimes I have nightmares that we are trying to leave for a trip and I just can’t, for the life of me, get my bag packed properly. I think I have a problem.

We arrived at Epcot and as usual I scan the parking lot and announce how many sections are full. “Look, only three of the five hundred parking sections are filled up! It will not be crowded”. We’re hopeful for a nice day without long, smelly-people lines. We hop out of the car and we’re all super impressed with the CM on the Segway helping in the parking lot. (I’m not sure I spelled Segway right since I often read posts by the same people who spell things wrong on purpose. You all know who you are…and you better PM me or something if this isn’t the proper spelling. ) Again, as I do on every trip, I say “Thank heavens my job isn’t the ’parking lot CM’. Bless your little heart if you are. It looks like such a hot and boring job…especially if you aren’t one of the lucky ones riding on a Segway…and I do believe you all still wear the SAME uniform as you did when I was a little girl.

We lock the car. We lock it really good by pressing the lock button many times since half our life is in the back of it, and skip off towards the gates. Every time I park in a lot at Disney, and head towards the gates, I think of my good buddy Clark Griswald. Remember him running towards the gates of Wally World? That movie is one of my all times favorites. I feel like doing the Clark G. run towards the entrance, but I hold back. I would have embarrassed my whole family. Mr. Frick says, always with a big snicker, that I run like a horse. I don’t know about you, but I think horses are very pretty when they run. He confuses me sometimes.

Once we are inside the gates, I give a little wave to LaLa’s picture in the memory brick wall thingy and head for the big golf ball we love, Spaceship Earth. We LOVE this ride. We might be in the minority, but we all dig it. I remember the first time I ever rode it as a little girl. I think we waited in line for maybe two hours and I rode with my middle brother, Jeff. (I have three older brothers) I was freaked out in the dark climb up because no one had any idea what this ride was going to be like and at that time I was afraid of heights. Of course JoMomma was worried too. I remember being so scared of the descent when your car tips backwards. Ahhh, those were the days when Spaceship Earth could give you that much of a scare/thrill. Back to the present…sorry. We edumacated our boys as we went through. Big Frickles rode with me and he had a true interest in knowing about our past. It was a great ‘First Ride’ for our trip.

Does anyone else get all turned around and backwards when you exit Spaceship Earth? Apparently we do. We take a wrong turn thinking we are heading towards The Land so that Momma here can grab some Soarin Fastpasses. (I was so excited to get in the gates that I forgot to get a map and a times guide. I’m an expert disser. I even have tags. You think I would be smart enough by now to know to get those two very important things. ) Finally, after twenty minutes of walking in circles & exhausting our kids‘ little legs, we find The Land and The Living Seas! I run to grab Fast Passes for Soarin while the others headed towards the Coral Reef. The standby line for Soarin was ONLY twenty minutes. Thank you TGM, you were right about hitting Epcot today!

I ran from The Land to the Living Seas since my family wasn’t with me and I could only embarrass myself. If you were at Epcot on Sept 28th and saw someone doing a beautiful horse run, that’d be me. The Clark in me was busting out.

We checked in for our 3:00 ADR at the Coral Reef. We loved the lobby! It is so cute. Sorry I don’t have a picture of it. This was our first time eating here. My whole family loves seafood. Me? I can’t stand it. I have a severe aversion to it. I throw up a little in my mouth when I smell it. The Coral Reef ADR was a gift to my family. Just so you know. I had done my research and I knew that I needed to ask for an ‘aquarium table’ at check-in. I did my job and plopped down with the rest of the family on a booth seat to wait for our turn. Everyone was excited until SHE walked by. Yes a not so pleasant woman walked right by us and said in her loudest and most irritated voice “This is the last time I will ever eat here. We are never coming back”. Thankyouverymuch. Just so you know, I am not too fond of people like that. She only did it to crush all of us who were hungry and excited to eat there. No LY/MI to Ms. Buzz-kill.

When we were lead in to the restaurant, all I could think about was a Las Vegas show. That is what the seating looked like in there. Big roundish half-circle booths everywhere with all the diners pointed in one direction…towards the beautiful, spectacular, full-wall aquarium. All of these tables looked like aquarium tables to me, so I wondered exactly what I had requested. Our sweet little CM lead us to a table that was bumped right up to the aquarium wall. BIG SCORE! We were front and center for all the action. It was AWEOME! IF you go to the Coral Reef, you MUST ask for one of these tables. It was the most pleasant meal as a family we have ever had because the kids were entertained and it was a very calming atmosphere. The boys were given a list of sea creatures to find and that was huge fun for all of us. We even got to watch divers swim around in the tanks. Now that was cool!

If you are interested in what we ate, well I’ll tell you. For appetizers Mr. Frick & the guys had crab claws and shrimp cocktails. I gave up my appetizer to order an extra round of crab claws for them. For dinner, Mr. Frick had a frickin Chicken Caesar Salad. WHAT? We were here because he loves seafood! Oh well. It just wasn't a seafoody day for him. He loved it, by the way. Big Frickles had PIZZA. Again, WHAT? No seafood? He didn’t like it so much. He said it tasted like fish. Lil Frick had Mahi-Mahi. Thank you! Finally, someone wanted some seafood. He didn’t much like it. He always thinks he likes fish, but we’ve learned that if it doesn’t come coated in a crunchy crust in the shape of a stick, he isn’t going to eat it. It was OK though because they had a ton of jumbo shrimp in their appetizers and Mr. Frick ate some of the leftover fish and really liked it. I had prime rib with the BEST jalepeno cheese grits I had ever eaten. I could have swam in those grits because they were that good. I'm a southern girl...and I like me some grits. Jazzed up grits are even better! For dessert, the boys got the ‘build your own sundae’ and Mr. Frick and I got the Chocolate Wave. I had read many, many good things about this dessert and it turned out that what I had read was true!

Here are some not so good pictures of us dining. I forgot to use a little handy camera tool called a flash.

This would be an extra large sea turtle.

P1000827.jpg

I know you can barely see us, but at least you can see what an aquarium table is.

P1000831.jpg

Here’s the yummy Chocolate Wave. That is white chocolate ice-cream and when you cut in to the cake warm chocolately liquored up oozy stuff runs out.

P1000830.jpg

If you can’t tell, Lil Frick is holding up a little chocolate piece with “My Sundae” written on it in white chocolate. It was tucked in to the ’build your own sundae’ kit.

Big Frickles is proud of his creation.

Our whole family truly loved the Coral Reef and we are so glad that we chose to eat there!

We just think Disney restaurants are awesome. We also think that visiting them for FREE is killer! Thanks Walt for a great meal on the house!

Stay tuned: We’re going to have a nice no-stress & line free day at Epcot!

you know there are CMs here, right? :rotfl2:

I have a big brother Jeff too. And we love SE too! And awwww I can just imagine mini frick being scared on this ride as a wee lass! :rotfl: My nephew was afraid of IAMW when he was 5. :lmao:

not the Horsey in you? and I run in the parks TOO!!!!!!!!!

Frick. You know I think the world of you. Your men, all three of them are gorgeous and you are funnier than the hoot in owl... :thumbsup2 I loved this chapter! Great job!

Frick, Frick, Frick - I soooooo wished I had more time to spend with you :guilty:

We love Spaceship Earth/Golf Ball. It is my Granddaughters Favorite ride. and yes, I still get "lost coming out" :teeth:

Running like a horse is OK unless you run like a Clydesdale, cause they do the high step :rotfl2:

Loved the Coral Reef. The Creme Brulle was to die for

And the Griswalds :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hey Frickles! This is so fun getting to know you whilst reading your TR!
I'm loving it!!!

OK, I am never listening to the DIS dining reviews ever again! I canceled our Coral Reef ADR's last time and NOW I'm regretting that choice! (something to look forward to NEXT time!)

I really love Clark Griswald and all his mis-adventures! Especially the original!
I oft quote him telling his family "This is a QUEST! That's right, a quest for FUN! We're going to have so much fricking (NOF) FUN we're going to be whistling zippadeedoodah out of our ***holes!" :rotfl2:

Great next chapter Frick!!

We arrived at Epcot and as usual I scan the parking lot and announce how many sections are full. “Look, only three of the five hundred parking sections are filled up! It will not be crowded

I do that too. We usually take the car to the parks. But I always forgot the bazillions of guests that do take Disney Transportation!

We lock it really good by pressing the lock button many times

:rotfl2:

I have to hear the horn honk at least three times, then I know it's really locked!! :lmao:

Everyone was excited until SHE walked by.

I loved the Coral Reef too! It was my first time and was skeptical - except for the company I was with (Sher, B and Horsey!) The food was excellent, and the wine even better! ;)

Looking forward to more!!

Girl, you are too funny! I am so enjoying this. I too LOVE the Griswalds, especially the extended family. I love to quote the "my daddy says I'm the been kisser in town" line. My DH thinks I'm seriously insane - but that's why he married me!

Your family is beautiful! I can't wait to read more!

We also loved the CR - but were'nt as lucky as you with the table placement. Pixie dust right there for ya! pixiedust:

Lovely family you have. Cute boys. Waiting for more :)

Feeling a bit left out as it seems everyone here knows you, but I had to say I am really enjoying you trip report. I thought about taking my family to CR but had decided against it. Maybe I will change my mind again. Girls prerogative!
Keep it coming
