The fine line between crazy and insane....kickin' asphalt on the way to Goofy '08

Hi Amy,

I am with Kim. I am proud of you for listening to your body by stopping that run. The last thing you need is another injury going into the goofy. Take care of yourself, sweetie.
Have a good weekend, and keep us posted on those aches and pains.

Take care,
Beth

 THANK YOU all so much for stopping by!!! I think you will all be very proud of me!

First of all...yes Kim :guilty: ... stopping that run 1/2 mile was mentally REALLY tough. BUT....this year I will be smart. I promise!

Sooo...with that said I did quit the run on Thursday and opted for 30 minutes of elliptical/bike. My leg felt better after doing that non-pounding cardio so I know I made the right choice! Today I went out and tried the 4 mile run...it went great :). I finished in 37:31. No pain..I iced and took advil..seemed to keep those nasty pains away! :thumbsup2

I am supposed to walk 5 miles tomorrow. BUT...instead I am going to be smart and do some ski machine instead :). Aren't you guys proud of me!!!!???? Kim..you're right...I have to look at the bigger picture and 4/5/10 is NOT smart back to back for ME :). I have to teach Pilates tomorrow...so I'll get a good stretch at least!

Thanks again everyone. You guys are the best!!!! :goodvibes

Kim..you're right...

:confused3 little ol' me? :confused3

Seriously, girl. I am SO proud of you!! You are a listening machine! (listening to your body, that is. :thumbsup2 )

Enjoy your weekend, Amy. You know what you're doing. I totally shouldn't ever question that. :goodvibes

Great job listening to your body, Amy.:thumbsup2 I'm proud of you.

Hope you have a great weekend!

HiAmy,

You can add me to the list of people who are proud of you.

I actually stopped by to thank you. I followed the link you posted in Kim's journal. I used the stretches, and my hips feel so much better. I hadn't realized how tight htey were until I did the Piriformis & Psoas Stretch. I can't thank you enough.

Have a good run tomorrow.

Take care,
Beth

Hi Amy!

Smart, smart, smart decision on modifying the weekend's activities to benefit healing your leg...I'm very proud of you!!! I think you'd have done differently last year and it's so cool to see how much you've progressed. You're not only a runner...you're an intelligent runner....an intelligent ultra marathon runner come january!!

I stopped by to wish you the best of luck tomorrow for the "double digit dash" :goodvibes: I hope the run goes very well for you, I have the feeling that it will

Hope your weekend is a good one!

Hey Amy---I am so glad to hear that you changed up your training because your leg was hurting. WTG in listening to your body! I was looking for you this morning out on the trail..I was out there for 11 miles myself.

We definetely should get together for a run sometime in the future. Those LRs can get kind of lonely sometimes.

Hope you 10 miler went well today, I will stop by later to see how it went!

Hi Everyone

Thanks so much you guys for stopping by and cheering me on. It means a great deal to me and I look forward to reading everyones' journal as well! :goodvibes

Today was the double digit dash (ha ha Scott  )...10 miles and it felt pretty good. I managed to stay very consistent and finished with a 10:12 mpm average! I'm very pleased with that. I ran the entire time except for two minute long gel/water stops :). Anyway....my calves are very tight but otherwise I'm feeling good. Tomorrow will be the day of truth to see how my body held up for this run. I'm feeling hopeful ;). I did take an ice bath (ACK :scared1: ) and that usually helps.

Weekly Update:
Mon: Taught two 60 minute pilates classes
Tues: Ran 6 miles (10 mpm); Pilates Reformer
Wed: 30 Ski Machine, 30 Pilates
Thurs: 30 Elliptical/Bike
Fri: 4 Mile run (9 something mpm); 30 Pilates
Sat: 60 minutes pilates (skipped the walk to save the legs)
Sun: 10 Mile LR!!!! :thumbsup2

Results:
Ran: 20 Miles
Walk/Run: 0 miles
Cardio XT: 60 Minutes
Pilates: 300 Minutes
Classes Taught: 4

Thanks again to everyone!!! :grouphug:

Congrats on an awesome run! :thumbsup2 Just when I think you couldn't amaze me more..... :upsidedow

Have a GREAT week, and (I assume) a nice, calm "day off" tomorrow. :goodvibes

Hi Amy!

GREAT JOB with the run today!! I can't believe you RAN nearly the entire thing!! It's so nice to see you where you are at this year as opposed to last...I know you have to be so much happier with how things are going this time around :goodvibes:

Keep up the great work buddy

Awesome job Amy! I am dying at the end of my 3.7 miles. At what point are you able to cruise through that and say that 10 miles is in your future because right now I am out of breath typing this!!!!!!!!
An ice bath must be quite an experience,I've read about them but never knew anyone who did one.

Thanks for the support on my journal,I missed reading everyone's everyday when our computer was gone.
Linda

Whoo Hooo Amy!!! You go girl! I am proud of you! You have listened to your body, you had a fantastic run this weekend! You are doing great!!! I love reading your journal and watching as you set these goals for yourself and how you meet them and continue to succeed! Keep it up girl!!!

Stacie

You get more inspiring!!:goodvibes Awesome job. I am with my sister - reading your journal is always a testament to what can be accomplished when you don't give up. Thanks, as always, for the great example. Have a good day!

Great run, Amy! You are doing an awesome job with your Goofy training! Keep up the good work and the race will be yours!

Hey Amy--another awesome LR for you this weekend!!! And another great overall week of training. Reading your weekly lineup of training reminds me that I really need to add some more cross training to my training. Besides my hockey games/practices, I haven't really been doing anything else.

Hope your body was not too sore yesterday and today!!!

Keep up the great work!!

HiAmy,

First, thank you for the explanation on the plank. My shoulders were up by my ears. I did it today without problems. Well, that isn't exactly true, but I am working on it.;)

I am so proud of you and all that you accomplished last week. I hope that the ice bath worked, and classes were good today.

Take care,
Beth

Hi Amy! Just checking in to see how this week has been. What's planned for the weekend?

Thanks for continuing to check in on me and offer your ideas, suggestions (even though life has gotten in the way of me actually doing them this week!) and words of encouragment. I love reading your journal and your posts in mine.

Keep up the good work!!! :thumbsup2

Hope you're having a good week!
Stacie

Hi Amy,
