Unlikely, I'll agree, yes, but I don't believe it's impossible. I know I've gotten on the parkway in the direction I normally go when I've meant to go the other way, just force of habit and not paying attention, and the entrance is less than two minutes from my house, and I certainly knew my destination when I got into the car. I really believe once someone starts to drive, they can get into the wrong mode right away. I don't think it's as much a matter of time, just that the brain goes on the wrong autopilot, especially when a person sometimes drives the child, and sometimes doesn't.

I've done that too. But that's not what happened in this case. You realized, I assume, and I realized, rather quickly, that we had gone the wrong way. The big issue here is that he had sat and had breakfast with Cooper. Cooper should have been very much in the forefront of his mind, if not when he missed that turn TWO MINUTES later, then SOMEWHERE rather quickly. Could it happen? Sure. ANYTHING can happen. But it IS going to be a huge hurdle for the defense because it's not the same as if he put him in the car at home, had a distance to drive to work, was in autopilot mode, and forgot him.

Okay, I am kind of in shock, Batey Corey's atty says there will be a 3rd trial, as he was forced to do this trial. And the young lady sure had a whopping statement as well. My heart goes out to her.

She is saying that he was ordered to have this trial, select a jury , was basically bullied into it. So I think she is promising her client will get a new one. She believes he does not deserve to be charged with anything and did not do anything.

I was out with my DH today and we saw a lime green car which always reminds me of the local murder of Mary Lou Arruda, a 15 yr old girl murdered in the late 70s. Her murderer drove a lime green car, so it stood out to her parents when he drove past their house, not knowing he had their kidnapped daughter in it. He got FOUR trials, after appeals and overturned convictions. What that family, and that town, went through. I didn't realize he had died in January. Good riddance. I also didn't know about the other despicable things he did (like in a cemetery). Evil evil man.

What a sad story despite the town's coming together to memorialize Mary Lou.

And what the hell was that assistant dean thinking when he contacted that kid? Trying to reconcile his own guilt? And as a side note, I am so anti-texting and phone use unless it's hands free, I've contacted state/local reps about legislation against it. We had a chance at a statewide ban (legislators sent him a bill for signature) a few years ago, but our Governor thought it was government overreach, an infringement on people's rights to ban texting while driving. All I have to say is should anything happen to wife or family with a texting driver to blame and I'll be suing not only the driver, but the State and Rick Perry also. And I won't even start on drunk driving.

I hope Megan wins her suit too, but if not at least this information is out there, how disgusting.
