The Fantasyland Expansion Plans have changed!!!

I would so much rather have an immersive Pixie Hollow experience than any kind of circus theme. I don't think a circus theme broadens the appeal- I think it lessens it. The way to truly broaden the appeal would be to add more than one ride. (The dumbo expansion does not count!)

Yeah, a meet and greet. That takes a ton of imagination and is a wonder of engineering.

Maybe they should just get rid of all the rides and make the whole place meet and greet. They could charge people $500 a day.

Or, you know, not.

If the fans are really excited that Disney is building meet and greets, it only serves to show how low their expectations have sunk. That anyone would consider a meet and greet a big, new thing from the Imagineering staff is just pathetic.

GEEZ...WOW....:confused3

The only thing that REALLY excited me about the expansion was the Little Mermaid ride, Be Our Guest restaurant, and the double Dumbos (but PLEASE get rid of the clowns... that's just downright scary and un-Disney like). Although I thought the idea of each area having it's own "castle" was kind of cool, it didn't have enough draw or excitement unless you're dealing with girls under the age of around six or seven. I thought that Aurora's birthday party was particularly weak.

I hope they do something really cool! I think the Neverland idea or the Snow White mine train idea are really neat. I also like the idea of an Alice area. I'm just hoping they do a good job of "plus-ing" up the area. :)

Why?

Not complaining about your opinoin but wonder why you think "they gotta"?

And if they did, I don' see it at EPCOT, doesn't really fit there.
if anything a fantasy creature area for AK, maybe around Tree of Life or in the Oasis.

Well when toontown closes they will be moving... I had read to another park since there will be no room at exposition hall for them - just as the princesses and Minnie & Mickey will be moving out of Toontown. So seems they will be in a new home, though temporary perhaps, till the expansion is done and they make pixie hollow and give them a permanent home.

But just makes me wonder perhaps what park they put them in during the remodel maybe they'll keep them there.
We LOVE Tink and the fairies, and wouldn't care what park they are in. But just a thought, if they kept them in whatever park they would be moving them to during the expansion, perhaps they'd keep them there and just that it would leave more room to add even more in Fantasyland.

I'm curious to see the changes although if they get rid of pixie hollow I will be extremely disappointed cause that, the little mermaid ride and be our guest restaurant were the things I was most looking forward to. I do wish they would add more rides instead of all meet and greets.

If the concept has evolved at least in part because of Harry Potter World, they must realize that rides are essential.

Yeah, I agree. Rides would be better than meet n' greets and I think it would boost up attendance.

I also agree that they should add more rides and less meet and greets!! I am excited for the Beauty and the Beast stuff and the Little Mermaid ride but beyond that it is not that exciting.

Are the rides that were in Fantasyland still going to be there? Please tell me they aren't getting rid of Peter Pan, Pooh, Snow White, & Small World!

I absolutely love Tinkerbell but I think reworking their original plans is a very good thing. It was way to heavily focused on girl things. I really hope it isn't all pirates, though. That just isn't my thing and I would hate to see the entire thing become pirates. I would love to see them do a lot with the Pixar theme. There are so many things with the Pixar characters that would appeal to boys and girls alike.

First of all, I do hope they keep some of the character experiences, they looked so cute and fun for the kids! And I so want the Little Mermaid ride too!!

P.S. Disney, while your at it, maybe bring us a meet and greet with the talking Mickey Mouse you been trying out in DL - that is too COOL!!!

Because it would be jarringly out of place.

Not necesarily... don't they have the fairies meet and greet during the flower festival in the spring? Maybe that is what the poster was meaning? Also, the "Character Connection" in general for me has been jarringly out of place - just throwing the characters in a building in Innoventions is a bit odd, but it works.

Wow....

If you are so angry about this, write to Disney, or just don't go to Disney. For our family and many people, character experiences are a very important part of our Disney vacation. It would be really cool to have more immersive experiences for the kiddos. And I feel it makes our expectations even higher for Disney to keep coming up with new interactive experiences.

Disney never has been and never will be only about the rides - and if you are thinking that it is all about the rides, then you are missing a huge chunk of the Disney experience.

The biggest problem with the plan isn't the princesses or fairies. It's that this is supposed to be a major expansion, and there's not an e-ticket attraction in the bunch. I'd rather have a single great attraction than TLM and some glorified meet-and-greets.

Boy, you took the words right out of my mouth... couldn't have said it better myself. They thought a bunch of cheapo-depot meet-n-greets, restaurants, and shops were going to WOW people--not just as compared with WWOHP, but with our expectations of what a MAJOR Fantasyland expansion should and would entail? Rides, people...attractions!

I couldn't agree more. I guess their post rollout survey of the plan must've yielded the same feedback--or they wouldn't be spending a nickel to revisit it!

I also agree with the person who referenced the approach of dressed up movie screens running scenes. That'd be another HUGE disappointment.

Along with the fact that the criticism was right that the new expansion of Fantacyland was too weighted towards little girls, the announcement of Legoland coming to Orlando may have made Disney take a step back and analyze there plans a little closer. Legoland will be much more of a competitor for Disney than Universal is.

Oh no... They were kidding about the clowns, right? I hate clowns!!! :scared:

:clown: = :darth: (evil)

Something about people putting that much thick paint in their faces and then acting so friendly towards you and your kids makes me feel ill...

I guess I have childhood trauma or something against clowns... that, or that I REALLY shouldn't have watched Killer Clowns From Outer Space when I was a little kid. :sad2:

I love the characters at Disney. PLEASE don't add clowns!!!! <insert begging smilie here... couldn't find one!>

Not if it's done the same level as the one in CA. We had fun at LegoLand in CA, but it's nowhere near the level of Disney or Universal. Lego has the potential to be amazing, but currently it is not.

Personally i think Fantasy Land needs to have the 7 Dwarfs featured. There is so much they could do wiht those guys. Snow White already has her props and featuring the 7 Dwarfs in the expansion would be a natural fit.

I have to say that at my son's current age, it would be hard to pass Legoland up...however, if they added more boy stuff, I wouldn't mind staying away.
