The Fantasyland Expansion Plans have changed!!!

Like I've always said, I think maybe a character meal for boys (of course girls can go too), with Capt. Jack, Capt. Hook, Peter Pan and Wendy would be great!

That's a great idea and something that would work for all genders and ages. I hope someone's listening!

I'm a mom of two DDs (7 and 5), but I really thought the plan called for too much princess stuff. My girls would enjoy it for the next 2-3 years, but after that, probably not so much.

TLM and BatB make sense, because they're already modern classics. But I never got the Pixie Hollow thing.

I am also thrilled to hear they are making changes. I have only boys & the only thing we would have done would be Little Mermaid ride. A Neverland or Wonderland area sounds very cool & would appeal to both genders. A Neverland character meal would be great too.

I hope they bring back a Villains meal, and make the area more adult-friendly while they're at it. Toontown was skewed way too young as far as I am concerned, and the announced plans for Fantasyland were also skewed way too young. Walt's dream, and Disney World's success, was that it was a place for adults & kids to have fun together. The plans need to reflect that, not just be a place for parents to stand around while the kids are entertained.

I'm still trying to figure out how Gaston's Tavern can exist without beer. :confused3

Maybe the same way they can do Butterbeer at WWOHP, create an entirely new drink with no alcohol as the Tavern's signature beverage.

Think, "Gaston's Brew". That, and Root Beer on tap, and you've got your Beer in the tavern without serving alchohol in the MK.

(Hmmmmm.... Grog! Think we can get grog?!)

Personally... I'm waiting on them to have someplace near POTC where you can get Rum. Unfortunately, I have a feeling it'd always be out, prompting cries of "But....Where's the rum gone?"

As a mom to a three year-old boy, and with no more planned, I am thrilled to hear abou this. I'm also an adult woman who thinks the whole Princess thing has gotten WAY out of hand. It never made sense to me that Disney would ignore half of its visitors! And a real, life-sized Mickey's Clubhouse would make my son's head explode! :lmao:

I would like to have a Boy character meal...I mean I love the ones with Mickey, Minnie Chip Dale....etc...but why not another one for boys...everywhere has princess meals....I would like to see one with Buzz, Woody, Pinocchio, Peter Pan...or some mix of characters you dont normally think too much about...

I'm glad they are changing, I do hope they get rid of Pixie Hollow.
Sorry I know some people loved the idea but seemed odd to me to have a whole area based on a couple made for dvd movies.
Beyond Tinkerbell I don't see any of those characters lasting long term appeal.
They've been doing good for 40 years so far (in FL and more in CA), I'm willing to give them the benifit of the doubt that they know what they are doing.
Well, I'd love for there to be a pixie hollow still... but maybe not at MK... perhaps Epcot? They gotta move the fairies to another park once they close toontown, and think maybe epcot... and why not just make a permanent pixie hollow there for them? gives more space in MK to add something else!

The biggest problem with the plan isn't the princesses or fairies. It's that this is supposed to be a major expansion, and there's not an e-ticket attraction in the bunch. I'd rather have a single great attraction than TLM and some glorified meet-and-greets. I don't even see the need for a Dumbo expansion (yes, I know the lines can get long -- so what?).

....the original plans for the fantasyland expanion have changed!...

of course they have and they will continue to change. why would Disney unveil the final-final early on? i would expect anything this major to intentionally have a few twists and turns to it.

Thank you for posting. I would be thrilled for a boy character dinning. Don't get me wrong, I love the princess dinning but now my son is getting a little older I would love something for him. Maybe they can add a Cars themed since they will be making CARS 2 next year (I know it might not be but one can still hope)

My money is on a Carsland at DHS sometime downt the road. They are currently underway with the construction of Carsland at Disney's California Adventure Park. From all accounts it looks like it will be a huge winner.

My son would LOVE this! He is so into "Cars" right now.

I just hope that none of this "new" stuff entails riding past characters on screens. I'd bet my left arm that some "imagineer" has already suggested that the new Ariel attraction include us watching Ariel on a screen...and someone else thought, "Well, we did it with Nemo, Toy Story and the Mexico ride..."

Agreed. It was bad enough when Disney took away good stuff and left meet-and-greets in its place. Now they are building meet-and-greets? And they think this is a great big deal? Whatever.

im assuming by the amount of autograph stuff sold, pictures sold, lines to meet characters that they KNOW it will still be a big deal.

My 17 year old would eat every meal on our trip with Capt. Jack if he were part of a character meal. She has quite the crush!

Why?

Not complaining about your opinoin but wonder why you think "they gotta"?

And if they did, I don' see it at EPCOT, doesn't really fit there.
if anything a fantasy creature area for AK, maybe around Tree of Life or in the Oasis.

i just hope everything is still open and the place isnt a mess for our trip next year!:confused3

That's my concern too!

Wouldn't it be awesome if they brought back Mr Toads Wild Ride? Or even added an Alice in Wonderland ride, perhaps like Disneyland's- if not maybe an updated version (not that I don't like the one at DL now - It's always been one of my faves)? There are so many cool old Disney movies that do not have an attraction. Or maybe Fantasia? I am a sucker for the classics, so I can dream! :wizard:
My bet is that they keep the Little Mermaid ride in tact, and make Pixie Hollow a smaller area. I am so happy they decided to change the plans, it was definitely a smart move on Disney's part. :thumbsup2

You gave me an idea! How about a land full of rides/shows that they used to have but are now gone? They could have Mr. Toads, Tarzan rocks, timekeeper, etc....Rides/shows from all the parks that never made it! Lol. Don't think this would ever happen, but its a cool idea...

I cannot see pixie hollow in Epcot. The only place it would fit to me would be MK.

I have a crush on him too! I would be there too!:lovestruc

Yeah, a meet and greet. That takes a ton of imagination and is a wonder of engineering.

Maybe they should just get rid of all the rides and make the whole place meet and greet. They could charge people $500 a day.

Or, you know, not.

If the fans are really excited that Disney is building meet and greets, it only serves to show how low their expectations have sunk. That anyone would consider a meet and greet a big, new thing from the Imagineering staff is just pathetic.
