The Extinction of the Cranky Pants: An October 2015 PTR

Sounds like a great Epcot day!!

I don't seem to remember Test Track taking too long. That could be because I tend to rush through at the end and not stop to look at all the little exhibits though. I think with FP+ we were out in a half hour, tops.

Your family is so cute! I love that everyone was brave enough to try Beverly!! I bet they won't fall for that again this time

I think i am the minority here when i say we love test track still... The kiddies love to make the cars and see how they do at the end. :lovestruc

Stay tuned for day... uhh... whatever. The day we do... more stuff or something.

Best. Line. Ever.

Thanks! I hope we have a great Epcot day! :thumbsup2

I know the old TT we were in and out in no time. I haven't done the new one. I've heard that since you have to build your car and are held in that room, it takes about 45 minutes from the FP+ entrance to exit. I'm not willing to chance it, as it's not THAT good of a ride. Sure, it's neat and all, but eh. I don't know if there are "official" times for how long it really takes. I've just heard lots of guesstimate reports. It's not enough for us to worry about. It's one less thing actually. :lmao:

Thanks for the compliment! Of course everyone is "brave" enough to try the Beverly. It has nothing to do with a cunning mama or rules or anything like that. And seeing as how they've been drinking that awful stuff every year since we discovered Club Cool ... you really think they'll stop this year? :confused3:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

The best part ... my mom won't know what hit her! We will all be like, "Here, we like to film each other trying all the 'yummy' sodas from around the world. Try this one. Good, huh? Okay, now this one? See, these are amazing! This one is called Beverly. The Italians love it. What do you mean it's nasty?" :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: And then I'll force my kids to drink it. :thumbsup2 It's only fair. I always try it, too. I'm not that horrible of a mother.

I think i am the minority here when i say we love test track still... The kiddies love to make the cars and see how they do at the end. :lovestruc

Best. Line. Ever.

I'm sure it's really neat, but I don't want to spend all that time there. :sad2: I think DS9 would enjoy building the car and seeing how well it does. It sounds right up his ally. But if we do it, then that's a lot of time invested in one ride. I dunno. I'd rather take the baby to the splash pad or play in Innoventions. Granted, I'm so sad that the one building is closed. How will we ever learn about fire hazards and saving money with a piggy bank?????:sad::sad: Fingers are crossed it opens up soon with awesome stuff. I guess my point is, there is/was better things to spend 45 minutes doing (times 2). Hmm... I duno. :scratchin

Joining in! I haven't done WoW, but back in my younger days, some of my friends did. It seemed like most of them were way too addicted, so I've stayed far, far away. I'm glad to see that some people have found a way to do it without it taking over their lives! I still won't let ds13 try it - he spends too much time playing computer games as it is, esp now that he and some of his friends have figured out how to skype while playing. I forget the name of what they've been playing, but it is a WWII (or possibly WWI?) themed airplane thing.

I always described my mothering tendencies as "sprinkled with granola." And my Kozy was my favorite baby carrier - Tulas didn't exist in my babywearing days, so I've never tried one.

Have you tried sound-cancelling headphones for the baby? We always did earplugs, but those can get annoying, and I've seen a fair number of kids with the headphones over the years.

:welcome: Glad you can join us! I won't lie, there are days I have a hard time walking away from the computer. There are days I feel like if I don't get some WoW time in, I might suffocate. The addiction is real, but not to the point where my kids are neglected or anything like that. I've always learned how to balance the gaming, kids, school, work, housework, etc. It's not perfect, but it's feasible. :thumbsup2 One of the WoW "tips" that displays when you log in even states to take all things in moderation including WoW. It's good advice. And there are times I do play too much and I get burnt out. :confused3

I have some WoW friends who skype while WoWing. They tried to get me on board, but my PC doesn't like Skype. Probably because I don't have a mic and I barely have speakers. :lmao: When I had to use a mic, I'd setup my laptop nearby. I don't like using the headset because I'm afraid I'd miss hearing the kids ask me something. I like my ears to be free. :music:

It sounds like maybe your DS13 is playing World of Warplanes? My DS9 says it's a really great game. I dunno. It sounds like it might be along the lines of World of Tanks, which I've seen DH play. I play WoW, D3, Sims, and I've dabbled in Rift and SWOTR (or whatever the MMORPG is called, I forget). I think that's all. I miss Sims Online to be honest. And There. Those were good games. I'm showing my age, I'm sure... but whatever. :lmao:

Granola. Love it! I think that might be a good way to describe me (but I won't steal your expression). I'm by no means crunchy or hippie or anything. :hippie: I dabble in some crunchy lifestyles is a good way to say it I suppose.

I haven't tried headphones on the baby... yet. I probably WILL, but right now, I want to see what happens. I don't see him keeping them on, even if he realizes they help. :confused3 It is something I will totally consider and look into prior to going. I might be able to borrow some.

ROFL....that was totally us who went into Gamestop to turn in our "trash" so that it could become someone else's "treasure" and we walked out with a NEW 3DS XL, a charger, 3 traps for Trapteam and some screen protectors. GO US!!! **** back to reading your PTR *****

I had to ask ds - he is playing War thunder. Nice generic name. No wonder I can never remember it!

The Sprinkled with Granola phrase was a category from an old parenting quiz, about How Crunchy Are You. Sprinkled with Granola was the 3rd category, lol. You probably get more crunchy points than me, since I never did cloth diaper...

O.k. sounds like a great FW day!! I don't like Test Track but my whole family does so there I go. I would not ride it if it were just for me so I totally get skipping it.

Love the pic of your son catching a critter.....my DH caught a critter too on a trip to Disney when he was oh about 3. Actually the squirrel caught him and wouldn't let go! :squirrel: You really should harass him about it sometime!

Glad to see that we aren't the only ones who miss the Piggy Bank Adventure. I'm not sure how we will feel when we go to Epcot next month and nothing is there.

How will we ever learn about fire hazards and saving money with a piggy bank?????

This is a very good point.. NOW WHAT AM I GOING TO DO! dang it all! i will never know how to save for the next trip!!!

Fingers are crossed it opens up soon with awesome stuff.

I haven't heard a thing about what's going in there.. humm that's strange there are usually rumors going around by now!

I guess my point is, there is/was better things to spend 45 minutes doing (times 2). Hmm... I duno

of course my advice is to do it once..

I'm glad my memory is only partly failing me. :lmao: The important things, I can remember. Who is trading games and stuff. :thumbsup2 I was SHOCKED at how awesome of a score you got. That was amazing!!! :scared1:

I had to ask ds - he is playing War thunder. Nice generic name. No wonder I can never remember it!

Oh! I'll let DS9 know he was wrong. (He swears he's never wrong, so it will be nice to let him know it happens. :lmao::rotfl2:)

Parenting quiz. Wow, it's been ages since I saw one of those. I think I took one with my oldest. :confused3

I didn't cloth diaper my two oldest kids. Just baby #3. I only considered cloth with baby #3 because I was trying to figure out how to continue Disney, college, manage all our bills, etc. on our income. My first thought was flats and rubber pants. I was clearly shocked at how far cloth came and how ignorant I truly was at the idea of cloth. It really did start as a way to save money (you spend all your money up front versus buying a package every week or two at the store). Now he has such adorable prints and I have custom made diapers for him. I have a WoW diaper, a generic gaming diaper, a Minecraft diaper, a Jack Skellington diaper, a Prince Charming diaper, a Twilight Zone diaper, R2D2 diaper ... uhhh.... what else? And that's all just in my custom or limited run diaper (where there are like 2-4 ONLY made). Plus some other awesome limited edition prints like Jules Verne (author), Charlie Chaplin, Albert Einstein, and other just really cute looking prints. I have very few solid colors in my stash. The only solid colors in my stash are only there because they were included in a package deal where if I wanted X diaper I had to buy ABC, too. I usually buy the package and sell the solids, but sometimes I keep them and use them. I really like the Genius series prints best (the owner designs the prints after a famous person, a genius -- an author, a scientist, an artist, etc.). Wow, okay, so we know I can talk about cloth diapers for days. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Anyway .... Yeah, I didn't cloth my older two. And this one has been in disposables here and there, so I can't say he's been full-time cloth. When I was in the splint, we used disposables because I couldn't spray and wash the cloth. When we travel later this year, we'll use disposable, I think. (We used cloth last October, but I was stressed with washing the cloth last year, and I don't want to stress over washing cloth this year.)

O.k. sounds like a great FW day!! I don't like Test Track but my whole family does so there I go. I would not ride it if it were just for me so I totally get skipping it.

Glad to see that we aren't the only ones who miss the Piggy Bank Adventure. I'm not sure how we will feel when we go to Epcot next month and nothing is there.

Okay, so when we go in October, you and me will ditch TT and everyone else can go ride. :thumbsup2

DS did not have any luck catching a critter, but he was persistent. :lmao:

Your DH actually caught a critter??? :scared1: Did he get bit? Is that what's wrong with him? :lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2: Man, I can't wait to "hang out" again. Boy, oh boy, this will be fun! I guess I need to come up with a new GMOTD! :thumbsup2

The Piggy Bank Adventure was AWESOME! How dare they take it away! The kids loved it. They'd argue and argue over who carried the piggy bank. :sad2: A CM had to intervene once last time. :lmao: I told them every other thing they could carry the piggy. Yet, they still argued. Ugh. I wanted to break us up so each kid could do a piggy bank, but they wouldn't let us for some reason? I dunno. I'm sure they still would have found a way to fight over something. :headache:

When you go next month... just stand there and cry. That's what I'd do. That's what I'll do if there's nothing there in October to replace it.

This is a very good point.. NOW WHAT AM I GOING TO DO! dang it all! i will never know how to save for the next trip!!!

IKNOWRIGHT?! Disney is hurting themselves by not teaching us proper saving techniques to get us back to WDW sooner. If we don't know how to save, we'll never get back. And if my kids can't learn to save, how will THEY ever get to go when they grow up? :confused3 Plus, what happens if my house catches fire now? We will never know... because Disney didn't teach me proper fire safety. Now you see the light. NOW YOU SEE THE LIGHT, RIGHT MO?!

I haven't heard a thing about what's going in there.. humm that's strange there are usually rumors going around by now!

Yeah, I know. :sad2:

of course my advice is to do it once..

I did the old one several times. Doesn't that count? :confused3

Oh! I'll let DS9 know he was wrong. (He swears he's never wrong, so it will be nice to let him know it happens. :lmao::rotfl2:)

Lol. Never wrong, huh? Gotta take him down a peg!

Parenting quiz. Wow, it's been ages since I saw one of those. I think I took one with my oldest. :confused3

I don't do a lot of quizzes, but it was running around my babywearing forum aka parenting forum hangout.

I didn't cloth diaper my two oldest kids. Just baby #3. I only considered cloth with baby #3 because I was trying to figure out how to continue Disney, college, manage all our bills, etc. on our income. My first thought was flats and rubber pants. NOW YOU SEE THE LIGHT, RIGHT MO?!

see-the-light.gif

I did the old one several times. Doesn't that count?

Nope..

Yep, DH caught a squirrel or better yet the squirrel caught him. It bit him on the finger and wouldn't let go. He jerked his hand up and down trying to get the squirrel off but no luck. Finally I guess it decided it had better things to do than eat DH's finger. :P

We won't bother with Test Track, as I've been told by several people that it's a 45 minute experience once you walk through the doors until you exit.

I wasn't aware of how long the experience is, so thanks for pointing it out! Didn't know it takes almost 1 hour for such a short ride!

Once we have our fill of FW, we'll dabble in World Showcase a bit. We might grab a snack from a F&W booth.
I wouldn't be able to resist multiple snacks if I was around those booths!

If we are done for the day, we'll go for a swim. If not, we'll start knocking out the WSC. I dunno. We'll do what we want. We won't be leaving until late evening, but an afternoon break is possible. I guess it depends on how we're doing. We may stay for IllumiNations, we may not. If we don't tonight, we have another Epcot dedicated day to check out the night show.
I love how your vacation is so relaxed, go with the flow. I wish I could squeeze in a 2nd day at Epcot for my trip too.

Baby Sully couldn't decide which slush from Club Cool he liked more!

So adorable!! :lovestruc

Also, here's DD13's experience with Beverly as told in pictures from 2012:
SHE GOES IN FOR MORE!!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:
She took several sips before she finally decided to pour it out. Best. Experience. Ever. :cloud9:
 Those pics are priceless. I had to google Beverly. Now I have to make sure to try it for the experience!

Ack! The Dis deleted you from my watched threads somehow. I was catching up and thought to myself...I haven't seen Liddy post anything lately, wonder what she is up to. So I looked and you weren't there!

Well I searched for you and fixed that little snafu.

So anyway....moving right along....
Yay for CBR again! It's hard when you have a specific resort in mind then get switched against your will (trust me, I know). So I'm very happy you got it in the end. And a preferred room to boot!

You asked a while back for hopper advice? Well we have always purchased hoppers. We love them. Some days we use them, so days we don't. But it is so nice to have the option in case of unforeseen circumstances.
The way we utilize them is:
I plan all of our mornings out to a 'T'. We hit the parks at opening and go hard until about lunch time. Then we head back to our resort for a break. Some like to swim, some like to nap, and some like to just walk around and explore the resort we have spent so much money to be at.
Then at around 4-5pm we hop back. Either to the same park, or a different one.
My favorite thing to do with hoppers is to start at MK, then monorail over to Epcot (such a cool experience arriving at EP on the monorail!), then walk (or boat) down to HS. Not all at once, but throughout the day, stopping to do rides and attractions here and there. The walkway between EP and HS is great. You get to explore Beach Club, Yatch Club, Boardwalk, Swan & Dolphin. And the path along the river is very peaceful :)

So Yay for CBR!
And I hope all your appointments go well. Will be thinking of you!

Where is this Titanic museum?! How cool, and love the photo of all of you. :D
I play WoW (World of Warcraft) as primarily a healer (my main is a Holy Paladin, she has her own Twitter and S.E.L.F.I.E. camera). When on my trip, if I find WoW related things, I text them to some of my guildmates.
I bought a 60 day WoW card yesterday, and as of tonight or tomorrow will be back on, would you like to be battlenet friends?
Our last trip was a breakthrough with him riding three roller coasters (7D, BTMRR, and EE)!
Neat! I've not ridden a one of them yet, but have hopes to ride all next time.
DIS and Facebook friends: I am hoping to meet up with old and new friends this trip (so if you’ll be there when we are, send me a message and let’s see if our paths will cross for a snack or something!).
We're going in 2016 and 2018 any plans to be there then? *hopes*
He tried to rationalize with me on how much money we've "donated" to Uncle Walt's pockets over the years (yep, he went there). I wasn't buying it.
You could always ask how many mounts he's bought. ;)
Not happy with the new MM.
Oh no. Why? if I might ask
This looks like a lovely resort! Celeste hopes we stay there for the winter 2018 visit.
Even with the HUGE upgrade, we are still coming out ahead. And according to a website where you can estimate food costs, I was saving on the DDP anyway ... so, we're going to rock it so we don't have to worry about prices on the menus
That is awesome! Love it when you crunch the numbers and can come out ahead!
All my WoW friends think I'm nuts for loving Disney and my Disney friends think I'm nuts for loving WoW. :sad2: I'm glad you guys get me. :cloud9::love:
:grouphug:
Maybe we can ride it enough times that we can all be the spy. :thumbsup2
I hope this happens for all of you!
Still healing. I'm doing OT twice a week to make it heal faster. I have a bit more movement with it, but there's still pain.
How is the healing going?
I just wore an amber bracelet to manage the pain (and hey, it works!).
Really? You have good pain relief for the amber? I'll have to look into that one, was that would be very nice.
My kids want to do things like go to DollyWood (we're pretty local), but I can't afford to rent an ECV each visit as it gets expensive.
Have you looked into purchasing an ECV? Do you have a wheelchair?
Feathermoon! I've heard good things about that realm.
It is a quite realm :) or was... it has been 6? months since I've had my account.
I'm on Scryers/Argent Dawn. No one RPs there. :sad2: A friend of mine and I were out on Darkmoon Island having some RP fun
Scryers and Argent Dawn are nice as well! I may have alts on one of them, but can't for the life of me remember.
There was a small group of us last night that hung out (including @BridgetR3 ) and we did some light RP. Once her and her DH logged, my friend and myself went over to the bar and did some more light RP.
Neat! There is/was a fair bit of RP on Featherm
Okay, I know Sylvanas Windrunner is the ruler of the Undead. She's the Banshee Queen. I like her. :lmao: I actually have pics of Korseh hanging out with her. :ssst:
One of my alliance toons killed her and the other leaders of the Horde, long ago. She's my favorite leader of both factions though. Sylvanas is the best, but I'm curious to see where her storyline goes, especially as her sister seems to have a more prominent role now.

Okay guys. Sorry I've been MIA again. Life just got in the way. :sad2: It is what it is, right?

I have to get caught up on my own PTR and a few others, and then I'll be back with an update (hopefully today or tomorrow). I need to get this thing rocking, because we're nearing the 30 day countdown spree!!!! WOOT!:woohoo:

Lol. Never wrong, huh? Gotta take him down a peg!

I don't do a lot of quizzes, but it was running around my babywearing forum aka parenting forum hangout.

Sounds like the babywearing forum where I used to hang out...but I never got into the collecting part. Thank goodness for my wallet's sake!

I often get into the quizzes that fall into the forums pretty hard. They're usually weird ones.

Collecting is in my blood. I dunno why. I need new blood. :lmao:

They used to have something called the great piggy bank adventure, that has to count as teaching us to save, right? ;)

But we need to learn to save EVERY TIME we go to WDW. And we need to teach our kids to save!

Fine, fine, fine. We'll skip it again this year. :p You're not the boss of me. (No, seriously, no one wants to do the new TT. Everyone wants Soarin over and over.)

Yep, DH caught a squirrel or better yet the squirrel caught him. It bit him on the finger and wouldn't let go. He jerked his hand up and down trying to get the squirrel off but no luck. Finally I guess it decided it had better things to do than eat DH's finger. :P

I did enjoy teasing him in game that day. That was a lot of fun! :lmao:

I wasn't aware of how long the experience is, so thanks for pointing it out! Didn't know it takes almost 1 hour for such a short ride!

I wouldn't be able to resist multiple snacks if I was around those booths!

So adorable!! :lovestruc

 Those pics are priceless. I had to google Beverly. Now I have to make sure to try it for the experience!

This is what I've been told by several. I've never experienced it, so I can't state it as fact. Just passing on what I've been told.

Multiple snacks = one meal! WOOT! No, really, we make a meal out of it. YUM!

It's better to just go with the flow than fight the current sometimes. :lmao:

Thank you!

Silly DIS for deleting things. :sad2:

Thank you! I'm glad to be back at CBR, and I think mom is, too!

We plan to use the hoppers some. We have a few days where we'll hop to another park. I'll mention that coming up soon in an update. We won't hop much, but we have a few days where we found a use for them. I doubt I'll make use of them in the future, but it was still a better deal than I could have gotten!

We do have a few days where we will start in one park and then go back to resort for rest/swim and then let mom and/or kids decide where to spend the evening. Many of our parks are tied down since we have ADRs, but we have a few days where we don't have a dinner ADR, so we can work around whatever we're feeling froggy for!

A health update will come soon. Just know that things are still being worked out in general, but my arm is recovered and my other health issues are being sorted through. It's all good news. :thumbsup2

Where is this Titanic museum?! How cool, and love the photo of all of you. :D

That was in Pigeon Forge or Sevierville. I'm not 100% sure which city it's in... they kind of blend together to me. :rotfl2:

I bought a 60 day WoW card yesterday, and as of tonight or tomorrow will be back on, would you like to be battlenet friends?

I'd love to be Bnet friends! PM me your Bnet ID and I'll add you next time I log in! I've been playing off/on the past few months. Been dealing with a lot of stuff, so my gametime hasn't been as active as I'd like. :sad2:

Neat! I've not ridden a one of them yet, but have hopes to ride all next time.

We're going in 2016 and 2018 any plans to be there then? *hopes*

You could always ask how many mounts he's bought. ;)

Hopefully you can ride them all this time! I'm hoping DS9 will conquer them again! I think my mom said she'll try some of them, too! :goodvibes

Definitely no trip for 2016. There COULD be a possibility of 2018. We haven't thought that far out, though. :lmao:

I'm sure all his ingame purchases don't even come close to ONE trip to WDW. :rotfl2::lmao:

Oh no. Why? if I might ask

This looks like a lovely resort! Celeste hopes we stay there for the winter 2018 visit.

That is awesome! Love it when you crunch the numbers and can come out ahead!

:grouphug:

I hope this happens for all of you!

I hated having to download ALL THOSE FILES. They zip them up, but you have to download all the zip files, unzip them, and then whatever you need/want to do with them. It was a royal pain. I don't even remember how many zip files I had... over 100 I think. So clicking each zip file and then unzipping.... Royal pain. I was NOT happy.

Fingers crossed you can stay where you want in 2016 and 2018!

I'm all about numbers... so I love seeing them come out good.

Thank you!

How is the healing going?

Really? You have good pain relief for the amber? I'll have to look into that one, was that would be very nice.

Have you looked into purchasing an ECV? Do you have a wheelchair?

Healing is ... going. :thumbsup2 More updates on that soon!

And yes, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my amber. DS2 had amber on until he refused to wear it. I love my amber bracelet and necklace. My sister recently bought amber for her birthday present. I'm seeing lots of articles about how it's impossible for it to help, but from personal experience, it's too much of a coincidence.

I don't have a wheelchair and ECVs are expensive to buy. I will certainly be renting one (it's already reserved) for my trip though. More updates on health/mobility soon though.

It is a quite realm :) or was... it has been 6? months since I've had my account.

Scryers and Argent Dawn are nice as well! I may have alts on one of them, but can't for the life of me remember.

Neat! There is/was a fair bit of RP on Featherm

One of my alliance toons killed her and the other leaders of the Horde, long ago. She's my favorite leader of both factions though. Sylvanas is the best, but I'm curious to see where her storyline goes, especially as her sister seems to have a more prominent role now.

Well, I hear how active the RP groups are there. And I do hear tales of the eRP that happens, but I think that happens on almost all the RP servers. :sad2: I've walked into it before on Scryers/AD and had to turn around and walk back out.

I've never done the achievement for killing the leaders of the opposing faction. I take my character's death too seriously, so it's just not been something I've attempted. And Sylvanas is definitely my favorite leader of either faction! I'm not into much of the story, but I have a friend (the one I RP with often) who is happy to answer all my questions or tell me stories. He usually weaves lore into our "outings" and I get to learn a bit. Like, one day, our characters were visiting Stormwind for the first time. He took me on a tour and was stating facts and pointing out statues and buildings and people and telling me about them. It was a very educational visit, and it was a lot of fun. You should join us sometime!

More soon! Need to catch up on a few other PTRs and then I'll be back in full swing with a few updates! I hope you guys like to read. :teeth:
