OK I need help with the rides at Sea World and Universal. I get motion sickness easily so I am not much of a rider but I would like to ride some things with my family and don't want to be embarassed. I'm 5'4' and heavyset generally wear a size 24. At Disney I ride Toy Story Mania, Great movie ride, muppets, dumbo, living with the land, small world, peter pan, jungle cruise, buzz space ranger spin, pooh, the carosel, gran fiesta tour, and the safari. Thats about it if that gives you a frame of reference. Will I have trouble riding the rides in Seuss Landing with my 6 year old? What about Shrek, Spiderman, the Harry Potter Train, or the Sea World rides?

I was a size 28 when we went to Universal, I rode everything with no problem except the rides with a test seat. There would have been no amount of squishing that would have allowed me to ride. I am very hesitant to force myself in to a ride, I do not want to come unbuckled during the ride.

The Hogwarts train was a bench seat with lots of room, I walked through the castle with my family and did not ride. There is a little waiting area for non-riders to meet their group at the end of the ride.

I loved Suess Landing and rode everything with no issues. Shrek, Minions, Terminator...all good! It was a great trip despite me missing out on the "thrill" rides.

Sarahbelle341 my husband did Spiderman at US. He is 6'2 and a 5X. He also did the Simpsons ride, transformers and Minions. The Train wasn't there yet when we went. We all walked through the castle but he wasn't able to do the FJ ride.

Thanks guys! You are making me feel better. I really only plan to ride the kiddie rides in Seuss landing, and Spiderman in IOA I think. Most of the other rides look either way too intense for my motion sickness or water rides. In Universal Studios I'm going for Shrek, Minions, and ET. I'm just hoping we find plenty of characters, shows, parades, etc to really enjoy Universal. My 6 year old is a little timid on rides (freaked out on mine train and is too scared to rides pirates) but really loves Dr Seuss and superheros. My husband is a bit of a thrill junkie and loves coasters so I think he will like Universal the most lol.

I have read many other places that say 7DWT is too small for large people. We have a Fast Pass for it on our trip in June, and am wondering if I should switch. I don't care if I am uncomfortable, I just want to be able to get on and ride with my daughter. I'm 5'4", 280 and a size 28. What do those of you that have been on it think?

How did you do on the mine train? We fly out on Christmas Eve for a surprise Disney Christmas. I'm quite nervous about that ride as it was not open on our last trip. I can be uncomfortable for a few minutes. I just don't want to be turned away from riding.

I went on 7DMT in October at 5'4 and 260 with no problems. I think if I was taller I would have had more issues. It is a lot of fun. Enjoy your trip.

Not sure if you still need some advice, i went to US and wrote Suess Landing a few years back, i was similar sized (about a 22 with most of my weight being in my hips/bum.... I rode everything i wanted to include the HP ride that everyone is always worried about

Hi - Need advice on tomorrowland Speedway - Im a large lady (30W) who fits in all rides fine, but not astro orbitor and I also have trouble with Space mountain due to not enough strength in my right arm after breaking it to push myself out and up out of it - but hoping to do the speedway - I usually avoid it, but want to ride if possible.

Lollipop's Mom - I haven't ridden speedway in years but did so at your size, getting out of the ride is hard if you have diminished strength in your arm, but if you have plenty of leg strength its possible. Is this ride something you want to do with a kid or just on your bucket list? For me its one of the least favorite rides at MK not only from the lets say not so flattering way to get in and out of it but because I find it boring

I just returned from a trip to Universal, Dec. 27 - 31. I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to ride some of the rides like Forbidden Journey and Gringotts because of my size, and I had read many postings about people who had negative experiences at Universal because of their weight, and embarrassing situations with the "Fat Police" on the Forbidden Journey ride. Here was my experience, hope it's helpful...
I am 5'4, 260 lbs, size 18 pants, 46 DD bra size...
We rode nearly every ride, and I was able to ride all of them! (We did not get in line for the Dragon Challenge or Rip Ride Rockit). On the Forbidden Journey ride, I did not have an opportunity to try the test seats outside because they started the line way before that, and I didn't want to get out of line by the time I got up there. I was really nervous that I wasn't going to be able to fit, and would be embarrassed in front of my family. When we reached the test seat inside the castle (right before we boarded the ride) the tall, rather large man in front of me was pulled out of line, and asked to try the test seat. He fit, and they let him through. I stopped because I assumed that they were going to ask me to try the seat, but they told me to keep walking. When I boarded the ride, I chose an end seat because I had read that the end seats were designed to fit bigger people. When I pulled down the harness, it clicked twice. The girl who worked there came over and said, "I'm going to push it one more time." She gave it a push, it clicked a third time, and I took off on the ride! It was great!
I had no problem with the lap bar on the Gringotts ride. However, I am only 5'4, and I felt like there was very little leg room (length). This ride seems like it might be uncomfortable for tall people.
On all the other rides I had no problem at all. I did notice one man, who was large around the middle, was escorted off the Minion ride because the lap bar wouldn't go down. However, the staff handled it very kindly and discretely. Other than that, I didn't see anyone get turned away from any of the other rides due to size.

I am having a HUGE problem finding the right bag to take. I have been going with a back pack because it's just been easier to find that would fit. All of the messenger style cross body bags have been toooo small. Not enough strap. I'm a size 24 and substantial up top. Ant suggestions on what you all have found?

I really like the smaller Vera Bradley cross-body bags, in particular the "Little Hipster Crossbody" has a 55" strap. I also wear a 24 and am fairly substantial on top. (My avatar photo is from 1982.) I really like this bag because, it is comfortable to wear cross-body, the front compartment is a built in "wallet" that holds cash/cards/ID, the main compartment holds a folding hairbrush, my two iPhones (work and personal), and pocket pack of tissues. There's also a zippered compartment inside the main compartment that is nice for hold loose items like some Shout wipes, emery board. It does "squish" oversized sunglasses, so I have a hook on sunglasses case for those. The nice part about a backpack is that it is very comfortable to carry and it will hold a sweater. Other than that, I love my little hipster crossbody. I'm on my second one. First one is threadbare!

I've ordered swimsuits from quite a few online stores over the years. I spent mega money on one from a home shopping store and we laughingly call that my "swimgown". The skirt was literally past my knees (and I'm not THAT short)!

I have 2 from them now and my daughter has one and just ordered another. Granted - they may only last a couple of years but I'm fine with that. i know my replies are late...but for the late comers...answers are everything. When boarding I would whisper to the flight attendant that i'd need one..and she'd slip me one there, or bring it buy , so less embarrassing for me

Just doing some catch up on my reading, as I was reading your post, I kept thinking how odd it was that you had such a similar story to my experience on POTC. Imagine my surprise to look at the poster and see that it was you!!

Just thought I would add in my 2 cents worth:

Swimsuit: I love my Slender Grecian One-Piece Swimsuit from Lands End. I know it is a little spendy, but I watch the sales and the "On the Counter" for it to go on sale. It holds everything in and prevents alot of the jiggles around the tummy and buttocks. It is really comfortable for being a slenderizing garment.

Shoes: I love my Dansko's. I have plantar fasciitis and have to wear orthotics in almost all my shoes, but not in my Dansko's. I have 3 of the Professional Clogs that I wear to work every day. I bought a pair of suede Mary Jane style of Dansko's for my last trip to WDW and they worked great, even without socks. They have a couple of new styles that I am looking at getting for the upcoming trip in May (Belle - Canvas, Hope or Hazel in Suede). I know they are spendy, but they are so comfortable and last a long time. My "everyday" is worn almost everyday Fall through Spring and are at about 5 years and are just starting to show some wear on the uppers.

Bags: I don't like the feel of cross body unless it is fairly small and has a LONG strap - but then it won't hold my park essentials (water bottle, sweatshirt, anti bacterial wipes, etc.). So I use a cinch pack I made myself. The standard size cinch pack looks extremely puny against my frame (5'9 - 320#), so I made mine a little bigger than the standard size sold. I have taken it on any trip that I need to carry "stuff" but want to keep my hands free. I can even leave it on for many of the rides, but it slips on and off easily, and I can carry it like a shoulder bag if I want. Also, because of the cinch pack design, it is fairly pickpocket proof.

Chafe: I have bought Undersummers for the upcoming trip. Haven't worn them yet in the heat, so keeping my fingers crossed.

I wear Lane Bryant's Cacique undies as my everyday and they do well in the parks also. Only time I've been uncomfortable was after getting utterly drenched on Kali Rapids. And I don't think ANY kind of underwear would have helped that! But it did cause the waistband to dig a bit. (I am MUCH heavier than my avatar pic, it's from quite a few years ago but it's my favorite so I keep it up. )

I'm a little smaller than you, but have the same build (same height, same distribution). I can fit into 7DMT, but it's a very tight fit. I was more focused on the pain in my legs than on the ride, and if it had gone on any longer, would have needed help standing. I've been on it twice and this happened both times. Just as a tip, don't bring a bag or anything like that onto the ride if you can help it. I had my backpack and had nowhere to put it the first time, due to the lack of leg room. On the second time, I just had my purse and held onto it as tightly as I could. I think you'll be able to fit, but it most likely won't be comfortable.
