The Everything and Nothing Thread

Oh, no, we're not really camping, as in a tent, and bugs, and sleeping bags. In this heat? No way!! Way down here in Looziana, any vacation home or 2nd home, or whatever you call it, is your "camp". No matter what it looks like - it could be a shack or a 2-story house - it's a camp. Ours is somewhere in the middle. It's a 3 BR house, nothing special-looking, but our little get-away, with A/C and running water! My DSis and I bought it after we sold our parents' house (we lost them in 2002 and 2003). Now, we do have a chiminea and sit around that when it's cool and have, on occassion, made s'mores! I took a few pictures this weekend, and if I can figure it out, I'll post some. I have figured out how to post things that were already on my computer, and how to scan things and post them, but I haven't yet tried to transfer pics from the memory card to the computer. I better start on it now if I want to post them on picture Wednesday. ;)

Oh ok now I understand. That is much better than the wilderness! I was imagining you and hubby in a tent cooking by the fire. But your way is soooo much better! I could do that. I have taken my parents and kids to the mountains a few times and loved it. I would love to see pics! Whenever you can. I am still trying to upload into photobucket. I can't do it here at work and I forget at home.

Hi Ev/Nots!!

I was working all weekend, so of course no Dis time for me. Seems like it was quiet here tho.

Teri, your cabin sounds great. That is definately the only camping I could do. Fully equiped home with indoor plumbing & beds, plus cable TV & air conditioning!! ;)

Pakey,, sorry you've had to work so much. My DH is in management at a food production plant. He has been thru those periods of needing to work long stretches, too. Please take care of yourself, working that much really takes a toll on you. :flower3:

Lara, wow, I have never done that much in one weekend. Hang in there, your life will get back to "normal" one day. These hard times will all be a far away memory. :goodvibes

Rodeo, Hi! and :welcome: Glad you found the Ev/Not thread. I'm Sandee AKA "Focus". I am not very tech savy & haven't figured out how to post pictures. But I do like True Confession Thursdays! Looking forward to getting to know you!

Joan, Happy Anniversary!! The pictures are great! Isn't it hard to believe that it is 30 years since you were married? After seeing the photo from last year, I see our DHs don't look that similar, after all. Yours has hair. :rotfl2:

Grumpy Pirate, I was in that world yesterday. Busy, bad day at work. :sad2:

Autumn, seeing Joan's pictures reminded me: DH & I went to Toronto for our honeymoon. But that was waaaaay before your time! :lmao:

Hi to Diva, Jo & anyone else I missed! :)

Hello Sweet Nothings!

First off, Welcome to rodeo! So nice to meet you!

It's a good Monday for me - it's our 30th anniversary! We're celebrating at WDW in three weeks, but today's the day. I'm jumping the gun on picture Wednesday with a shot from our first Disney trip together, just after our first anniversary:

Here's one from a year ago today, in Epcot:

We look exactly the same, dontcha think? ;)

Meg - Thanks for the kind words about missing my daughter. We do have something similar to Skype, which is a good thing since her cell phone reception is very spotty.

Teri - I stayed home with my girls, and then dipped my toes back into working with a 5 year stint at the local Disney Store, which I loved. I left that 5 years ago, as it was limiting the time I spent with my husband, so now I'm not working, either.

Hello to everyone else! Hope you're having a great start to a new week!
Joan

Happy Anniversary, Joan & Hubby! :lovestruc We celebrated our 30th this past January. Seems unreal, doesn't it? ;) I can remember when we met in Astronomy class our freshman year. I guess love was in the stars! You two are such a cute couple - then and now! But do you look the same?.......no, you look better! :love2:

I had one little part-time job several years ago. I was a rep for one of those greeting cards companies, which basically meant I ordered and stocked the cards and other stuff in stores. But it paid so little that it really wasn't worth it. The hours were great since I could do it whenever, but I didn't do it for very long. I think it would be fun to work in a Disney store. Ours closed a couple of years ago, and I miss it! :sad1:

Dax: Sorry you had a not so good day yesterday. I hope tomorrow is better for you!!

Lara: :hug::hug::hug::hug::hug: You are one busy mama. I know I've said this before, but your kids are so lucky to have you.

Pakey: I'll take flying lessons with you! Although I have a fear of heights so I think I'd stick to about 6 feet off the ground.

Diva: So true! Smart niece you have! LOL

Hi, Rodeo!! So nice to meet you.:goodvibes

Teri: GASP! You didn't care for Twilight? Shhhh you might want to keep that quiet.;)

:cheer2:HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, JOAN!:cheer2:

Sandee: That's so neat that you came to Toronto! What did you guys do while you were here? My parents honeymooned in Toronto too, and eventually ended up settling down nearby!

I got a new iPod today:woohoo: so I'm just getting my iTunes all set to upload them to the new machine. It's 120GB so finally it will hold everything... I'm so excited! It will make the bus ride to work so much better. I'm adding some Office and Glee episodes right now.

Another busy day today but I am happily in bed and just vegging out. Ahhhh.:cloud9:

Good morning all you lovely sweet nothings! I am so glad it's not Monday. But yesterday was not bad actually. It was a better Monday than usual. Kids had a great day at school, which of course makes my heart swell.

Autumn, I want an IPod so badly! I have a cheap little MP3 player but to be able to download movies!!!??? I would be watching them at work all the time. My daughter has an IPOD and is always adding songs on it. Hope you get everything downloaded that you want!

I swear I have the Disney bug so bad. My kids do too. I waited until they were old enough to really remember it. (And until I could afford it) and who would have thunk we'd become junkies. I am so glad to have found these boards so I have other junkies to associate with. Why is this place so addicting? Have you guys seen the new Halloween decor? I want one of everything including that cookie jar. OMG!!

Good morning all!

I am in need of a Disney fix! I am going to the disney website....but I might be tempted to buy for me and my nieces and nephews! I need to save because....My husband said we're going to try to go to Disney in January and take advantage of free dining!!!!!!!

Morning all. I'm a bit bruised and battered today. Our office lobby furniture finally arrived yesterday and the other VP and I were out there moving it around. I'm too old and out of shape for heavy lifting and I should know better. It's looks really nice though. I hope the President likes his stuff. He's been in Russia for a month and today is his first day back and he'll walk into his decorated office with everything picked out by me.

I'm 46 days from WDW. Diva, I hope you get to go in January. We've done 10 January vacations at WDW and it's a nice time to go. I'm wondering if the free dining will increase the crowds at all; it's usually pretty quiet in January. Except for the Brazilian tour groups.

Lara, I have not seen the Halloween decor. Where are you seeing it? I hope I don't want to buy anything while I'm there; I'm going carryon only again.

Autumn, enjoy your ipod. I washed mine in the washing machine (how many stories can I possibly tell y'all about my domestic disasters???). I do have one of the big iphones though so I reloaded my music onto it.

Teri, I like your idea of camping. We used to do that other kind of camping when the boys were growing up. My husband and the boys loved it; me not so much.

To all of the other Ev/Nots, have a happy Tuesday.

We usually go in January. The last time we went was 2009. It was when they did the buy x nights get x free. Something like that. And a gift card. We booked before the promo, but our travel agent was able to get us in the promo. It was the most crowded I've seen in January.

I agree. We were there that January too and I was surprised at how crowded it was. It was our first time ever going to an evening EMH at MK and it was so crowded that we got 3 rides in during those 2 hours. :headache:

Yeah...it was crazy. We said as nice as the promo was, we would've rather paid the regular January price. We also got to experience the cold spell that Flordia had. Of course we didn't bring our heavy coats for 30 degree weather!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Thank you for the anniversary wishes! We threw a couple *highlight if you're not Faith* lobster tails on the grill, and they turned out yummy, and had a lovely evening together.

Sandee & Teri - It is hard to believe it's been 30(+) years, isn't it? Time flies when you're having fun! It's been almost that long since anyone called us a cute couple, though!

Faith - whew, hope you get to take it easy soon! How'd the prez like his new office? Tell us about your plans for Egypt.

Diva - yay for a January trip! Where do you like to stay? I bet you bring back cute stuff for your niece and nephew.

Angelina - Do not get me started on Disney shopping! Not going to look, not going to look... So nice to hear your kids are happy in school.

Meg - Enjoy that new iPod! Is it a fun color or anything? I love looking around on iTunes! How long is your bus ride?

I can't believe it's the almost the end of August already! Though I'm excited about our WDW trip, I'm not ready for summer to be over. I know some of you are more than ready to cool down, though!

Joan

My problem is that I am a Halloween nut. I mean a seriously Halloween deor guru! My kids love the decor as much as I do. We were in heaven at Disney last fall. I have got to get the cookie jar. I wish they didn't want $100 for the Mickey inflateable.

Oh my I forgot all about this fun little thread :blush:and had this crazy idea I'd be able to pop back in and catch up...silly me! :lmao: You all are CHATTY!!!!

So maybe I'll just say hello again and start fresh from here if that's alright with everyone. popcorn::

I do that about a couple of times a week. I just can't keep up! :upsidedow

Great pic, lara! :woohoo: And you didn't think you could do it. ;) You and your kids are adorable! :lovestruc

Me too!

Lara, love the pic. You guys look so happy and you have gorgeous kiddos! What a beautiful family you have.:goodvibes

Joan, the iPod is just the classic white colour. My bus ride is about 30 minutes with about 15 minutes of walking on either end so it adds up to almost 2 hours a day in transit.

Pakey, I've put my cell through the laundry before.:rotfl: I'm not very domestically inclined either!

Oh boy, I just rubbed mascara in my eye and now it is stinging and watering like crazy. I would love to find a mascara that doesn't do that! Any recommendations?

Happy Hump Day Sweet Nothings! Yeah I did it, I did it! This was our last trip there. It was so ince and cool and started to warm up a little as the afternoon progressed.

DSo glad the week is half over. I am getting up a half hour earlier now that the kids are back in school and it's wearing me out! I need about 10 cups of Java today, make that a pressed pot and Tonga Toast! Man I wish I was there now, ahhhhh.

So how is everyone today?
