The Everything and Nothing Thread

Hi Janet...I'm just a little north of you. I took my kids to Williamsburg in June...great trip. We got the bounce pass, which included Colonial W'bg, Water Country and Busch Gardens. We really enjoyed it, especially Busch Gardens and Water Country. Not too far of a drive...about 6 hours for us, so maybe an hour less for you?

I have been wanting to take the kids to Williamsburg and Virginia Beach, but they just aren't interested. :confused3 They only want to go to Disney!!!

OK, Hawaii. My oldest DS (Josh, 15) is going to Hawaii with his high school band over T'giving 2011. They are going to be the honor band for the anniversary of Pearl Harbor (70th I believe). My dh and I and our DS11 would love to go, but not as part of the band. We want to book our own trip, but see the band when they perform.

Only problem I can see right now is that it's going to cost about $2400 to send DS15 which is going to kill us....I'm not sure if we can afford for the rest of us to go (and if we do, can we do it CHEAP???) I've been looking at the VRBO website, thinking maybe we can do a Waikiki condo or something....

My other trip news is that the band (same band! LOL) is also going to WDW in February 2011 (six months prior to Hawaii...). Looks like DS11 and I might be going on this one too. I've got a relative who is a CM down there and can hook me up with discounts.

Oh, and even sooner, I'm going to a conference for work in November 2010 in Anaheim, and *may* be able to go to DisneyLAND one evening. Hoping anyway! :wizard:

Wow Hawaii and WDW ~ maybe I should get my kids into band!! :rotfl:

And a work conference in Anaheim! Lucky you!! My work conference was in Seven Springs PA. :upsidedow:rotfl: You should definitely try to go to DL while you are there!

Well, let's see-
I like football, but only root for the homestate college team my dad played for (Oregon).
I like *some* sushi.
I'm an empty nester/baby boomer.
My equally Disney park loving husband and I weren't planning a trip this year for the first time since 1997, but thanks to a post by someone on the Codes and Rates board we got in on an amazing deal at the Poly, so off we go Sept 11-19!
I've been to Oahu in 1976 and Maui in 2007.
So I guess I'm jumping in!

Joan

Hi Joan! Don't you just hate it when WDW puts out all those great deals that just force you to go back?! ::yes:: :goodvibes

Hi Shelly..and everyone else!:goodvibes
I'm here! We just got back from NC visiting my brother and sister-in-law and had a blast! Boy was it hot and humid there (we live in MA...not so used to the extreme heat!
Looking forward to talking with everyone!
-Lauren

YAY Lauren's here too!! :cool1: What kind of fun stuff did you do in NC? We haven't been down there since our honeymoon!

Hi Shelly! We had a great time. We went out to some really nice places to eat and just hung around! It was really nice to see my brother and sister-in-law. What have you been up to? Any more Disney planning?

That sounds like fun! I have been wanting to get down there to visit my family in Charlotte, but just never seem to make it.

Not too much Disney planning lately. ADR's are made. Plans are set. Just counting down the days! :goodvibes Oh I think we are going to get tickets for MVMCP! :santa: A few people have told me how awesome it is and talked me right into it! ;)

WOW! Congrats to your son & his school band. They must be really good. I hope you can find a way to afford both trips for the rest of the family, too. pixiedust:

We were trying so hard to be grown-ups this year, and act like we didn't really mind that we weren't going, but ever since we booked a few weeks ago, we've been giggling like little kids. Little kids who'll be celebrating their 30th anniversary!

DH & I will be there the same week, celebrating our 32nd anniversary. We gave up pretending we weren't going back a few years ago. Now our annual trip is just a given & we budget for it accordingly! :goodvibes

I hear that! We finally tried to do the responsible thing and tackle several large home improvements this year, and are so happy to be able to keep our string of anniversary trips going as well.

Congratulations on your anniversary! If you're like us, it's hard to believe that much time has gone by - we don't feel that old!

Agree, we still feel like kids. Kids with aches & pains tho! :rotfl2:

Congrats on your anniversary & the trip!

Yay! More boomers! :woohoo: DH and I celebrated our 30th anniversary in January. Time does fly!

Unfortunately, it's been 4 years since our last Disney trip, and none on the horizon. Although I'm still hoping for a trip with DH's brother & family. We do love to travel, and have been to Las Vegas and the Branson area (Big Cedar Lodge on Table Rock Lake) in the last few years. And next summer we are planning an Alaskan cruise with my DSis and her husband. So if anyone has any suggestions or advice on Alaskan cruises (cruise lines/ships, itineraries, etc.) I would greatly appreciate it! :goodvibes

Hey y'all! Got room for one more?

I'm actually about to go to bed but I've been reading through the posts and thought I'd say a quick hello before I do.

Congrats to both of you on long happy marriages and WDW trips to celebrate!

An Alaskan cruise?! Wow, that's awesome! :cool1: Sorry I can't help you with any cruise advise. Haven't been on one yet. I have actually been looking into them myself. I have a big number birthday coming up in about 3 years and am thinking that will be a good time for a cruise. :boat:

Oh boo-hoo-hoo. Way to rub it in how young you are! :rotfl2: I have never been on any type of cruise either. My DH gets really seasick (can't take spinning rides and has gotten sick on Gulf fishing trips) so he has never had any desire to go on a cruise. But from what I've heard, unless it's really rough, you don't feel the motion on a cruise ship. And even less so on Alaskan cruises, which I think stay closer to land. I could be completely wrong on this, so if anyone knows better, please tell me! My DH is an avid outdoors lover, and I just know he would love the scenery and adventure of seeing Alaska. So that's how I've kinda/sorta talked him into taking a cruise. That's as far as we've gotten with the planning - we're probably going. I have alot of research to do!

Welllll good morning!:goodvibes

How great to see y'all are up and going strong this fine hot day.

Happy Anniversary to all those celebrating such long lives together!:lovestruc

Let's see- a cruise--
went to the Bahamas and it was fine until we sailed thru rough waters on the way back. Only one I've been on though-

Marcy-- my goodness what plans you are making! We didn't go to Honolulu- so IDK what to tell you but I do know some VRBO places are supposed to be a great bargain. If we ever go back we want to head to Kauai.
Anahaim- we went last yr and went to DL and then to Laguna Beach for a work mtg with DH's company. It's a fun time. You've got to at least go for a day or two to DL. It's soooo different than WDW.

Young! I think I will cry when I hit that number. So a cruise will make it all better, right? :rotfl: At least that's what I keep telling DH - who is not really into the whole cruise idea! :scared:

Morning Jodi!

How's the Farrah Fawcett do today??? :lmao:

We went on our first cruise when I turned 40. It was awesome! I didn't know if we'd like it or not...well, I knew DH would, but I wasn't sure about myself and our kids. We all loved it. We cruised NCL to the Bahamas and it was a good first cruise. Next time, I'd love to do a Carribbean cruise...

Cruising parts of the Atlantic can be rough, but we really had smooth seas until our return trip home. Then it got a little rough. It wasn't like "OMG we're going to sink!" rough, but we did have to hold on to the rails in the hallways a few times. My kids barely noticed.

Enjoy it!!

Hi Shelly!

Um, the Farrah Fawcett 'do..... I'm kinda liking it.
:rotfl:
Never thought I'd say that.:lmao:

I am a little worried about rough waters, but most people say it's not bad. I am doing my research! :surfweb: I think I want to do a Disney Western Caribbean Cruise.
