In all seriousness, though...do any of you have any experience with traveling to Hawaii? Looks like we might be headed there over Thanksgiving 2011.

Unfortunately I haven't been to Hawaii yet. But JO has and I'm sure she'd be glad to tell you all about it!

My everything … trying to plan a trip to for the 4 of us before September … somewhere to drive to (we live in SE PA) … what to do??

My nothing … my daughter sending me countless text messages (she just got a cell phone 2 weeks ago). At least my cell died today … can’t answer them

Yep- been to Hawaii two times, both times to Maui. If you have questions i'd try to answer them.

JanetB- Hi!!!! let's see- now, where can you go to? Huuuummmmm.... NYC? Virginia Beach? DC area? Lots of places to go up your way. We lived in PGH for about 18 months- it was very nice!
good luck on your DD and her texting. It gets so much worse!


Jane........ we shall talk football when the time is right. My poor heart- it shall be so divided this year with the NFL. Too bad I have no "real" team to root for. I am now, however, the owner of a shirt with a certain #15 on display. Gift from DH and all.

Hi Janet...I'm just a little north of you. I took my kids to Williamsburg in June...great trip. We got the bounce pass, which included Colonial W'bg, Water Country and Busch Gardens. We really enjoyed it, especially Busch Gardens and Water Country. Not too far of a drive...about 6 hours for us, so maybe an hour less for you?

OK, Hawaii. My oldest DS (Josh, 15) is going to Hawaii with his high school band over T'giving 2011. They are going to be the honor band for the anniversary of Pearl Harbor (70th I believe). My dh and I and our DS11 would love to go, but not as part of the band. We want to book our own trip, but see the band when they perform.

Only problem I can see right now is that it's going to cost about $2400 to send DS15 which is going to kill us....I'm not sure if we can afford for the rest of us to go (and if we do, can we do it CHEAP???) I've been looking at the VRBO website, thinking maybe we can do a Waikiki condo or something....

My other trip news is that the band (same band! LOL) is also going to WDW in February 2011 (six months prior to Hawaii...). Looks like DS11 and I might be going on this one too. I've got a relative who is a CM down there and can hook me up with discounts.

Oh, and even sooner, I'm going to a conference for work in November 2010 in Anaheim, and *may* be able to go to DisneyLAND one evening. Hoping anyway!

We've considered a few places ... VA beach one of them. We were supposed to go with a friend and her family (almost booked a house for a week) then my friend had to fly to Portugal expectedly (her mom lives in Portugal and was hospitalized) SO, they are not able to join us now ... (her mom is doing better)
My hubby likes the idea of Cape Cod, but I don't know – we may go for less than a week and I think it a little far for that. I think we should do it next year (when we can rent a house that we want). I would like to go to VA Beach - and go into Col Williamsburg/Busch Gardens a day or two. We would probably stay at a hotel.
NYC ... my hubby is from that area ...so we have gone for weekends ... we want something new.
I was thinking maybe of Ocean City, MD?? Never been there, but wouldn't mind trying staying at one of the beaches, just need things to do with the kids (they are 12 & 18).
Well, since they all look to ME for the planning, guess my vote counts a little more

I like football, but only root for the homestate college team my dad played for (Oregon).
I like *some* sushi.
I'm an empty nester/baby boomer.
My equally Disney park loving husband and I weren't planning a trip this year for the first time since 1997, but thanks to a post by someone on the Codes and Rates board we got in on an amazing deal at the Poly, so off we go Sept 11-19!
I've been to Oahu in 1976 and Maui in 2007.
So I guess I'm jumping in!

I'm here! We just got back from NC visiting my brother and sister-in-law and had a blast! Boy was it hot and humid there (we live in MA...not so used to the extreme heat!

OC MD is awesome. We try to go there on the off-season every year because, well, it's what we can afford! LOL

I'll share my favorite motel with you...The Flamingo Motel on 31st (32nd?). It's a nice, clean, no frills, but family oriented motel with an indoor and an outdoor pool. It is steps from the beach. It's not the Ritz, but we've been staying there for YEARS and we really enjoy it.

OC has a great boardwalk, free beaches, etc. There are other things to do, like mini golf, and it's a close ride to Assateague (where the wild horses are).

My boys are 11 and 15 and also love OC!! (oh, and we take RT 1 down so we can stop at the outlets in Rehoboth DE. )

Oh, I'm not a very adventurous sushi eater! I had Dynamite rolls, cucumber rolls and shrimp sashimi... and some veggie tempura, teriyaki shrimp, edamame, fried bananas, ginger salad and green tea ice cream and dumplings.

I'm so full that just lying on the bed and relaxing right now seems like a workout.

Well you've already gotten a lot of great suggestions on your trip!! We are on the other side of the state. We are headed your way to Hershey and Gettysburg sometime next month for a few days. We've been to Hershey several times, but this will be a first for Gettysburg.
