The Everything and Nothing Thread

Well I see everyone is out enjoying their weekend. We are on page 4  with no posts in almost 2 days!

Had fun time at the fair. Had a very good bar-b-que dinner and the best fries. Didn't want to have too much junk food. I've lost about 17 lbs this year & I'm not ready to gain it back! :goodvibes

Disney Countdown: 28 days!!! :yay:

Ok, now we're back on page 1. ;)

28 days?!?! I'm at 55 but 28 is much better.

Big gang here is the Bulldogs which is also our college football mascot. Sad because strict school dress codes prohibit wearing any of our college gear. We even have to have gang related dress code where I work.

I'm in the mood for a beaver tail!!!

28 days? 55 days? Lucky girls!!!:dance3:

I don't have any trips booked right now but I'm saving my money for a trip to Europe once I graduate. I really want to go to England, Scotland (my family is from Aberdeen), France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Greece. I would love to take a few months off and just squeeze in as much as I can. Hopefully someday I will get there! Unfortunately right now most of my money is being funneled toward grad school.:headache:

Hi E&N's! :wave2: I hope everyone had a great weekend! :goodvibes Mine was very nice without doing anything special. My DD came home Friday and we went out to eat Mexican food. The 30-35 minute wait turned out to be more like an hour, and we were starved by the time we sat down. It was hard not to fill up on the chips and salsa! Saturday I stayed home pretty much all day and did some more cleaning out of my china cabinet. I finally finished washing every dish and the other pieces in it. Now try to contain your jealousy over my exciting day! ;) DH cooked jambalaya outside Saturday evening which was yummy! Today was church in the morning and then DD and I walked around the lakes. Can you spell H - O - T  I wondered why there were hardly any other people (I mean fools) out walking/jogging/riding bikes. There are usually lots of people on the weekend. When we passed down sorority row, it was apparently the first day of sorority rush. All these young freshman girls were being paraded from house to house in their stylish best. I'm sure it was hard to look fresh while your make-up melted down your face. We heard all the girls doing their songs and chants as we passed each house. Made my DD feel old! ;)

meg - I can't believe I never gave you all the latest on my DS's medical tests! I am so sorry, after y'all were so supportive. I always get accused in my family of not telling one or the other something. I always forget who I've told what to! So anyway, everything came out normal, praise God! The EKG (which the first dr. said showed myocarditis) was normal, the Echocardiogram was normal, and his cholesterol was fine. I think now that he knows his heart is OK, he has been feeling better. He hasn't had any episodes that I know of. I think it was just anxiety aggravated by worrying about his heart. Now he needs to find a way to not get worked up over small things. Which is weird, because he was always so easy-going.

The SYTYCD tour is coming to New Orleans in September (I think). I've never gone to any of those reality show tours, but I loved the dancing so much that I may see about it. I'm not going to pay a fortune for tickets, though.

Your Europe travel plans sound like everything I would want to do! I just don't see myself ever going. But if I did, those are the very places I would want to see. Maybe one day when my DSis retires, she'll make me go with her. She and her DH are big travelers. They've been pretty much all over the world, except for Australia.

Sandee - Glad you had fun at the fair! Way to go with the weight loss! :thumbsup2 And good for you being able to pass up all that good fair junk food.

Congrats on 28 days!! :woohoo: Where are you staying and for how long? Sorry if this was talked about earlier. ;) I still need a refresher on here every now and then. ;)

Faith - So, did you work on that scrapbook this weekend? ;) BTW, I saw a thread last week about Las Vegas, and you are apparently the Vegas expert! I know who to ask for advice when I go back again!

Yay for 55 Days! :cheer2: Please give me a refresher on where you're staying, too!

Hi to everyone else out there! Talk to y'all soon!

Teri, I'm so happy to hear about your son! You both must be so relieved.:goodvibes What terrific news! I totally understand the anxiety thing though! I have supraventricular tachycardia (episodes of really rapid heart rate- not life threatening but I have to go to the ER for meds) and I swear, half the time I think I am having an episode it is usually just me worrying about having an episode and my heart rate speeds up because of anxiety. When I was a kid I couldn't tell the difference and my mom would often take me to the hospital only to be told I was having a panic attack.:laughing:

We don't really have sororities here in Canada so it is always interesting to hear about the Greek system in the US. Do we have any sorority girls here? Is it really like they show in the movies?

Oh, and I have been to one SYTYCD tour and I really enjoyed it. The tickets were quite cheap (I think around $20) and it was the season where Sabra won. I'm not sure if they are coming to Toronto this year but I would consider going!

Actually SYTYCDC (So You Think You Can Dance Canada) is starting to film here in Toronto in the next few weeks and I'm hoping to get some tickets to a taping! Canadian Idol also films here but I'm not really into AI/CI at all.

I can't believe it's already 10:45! This weekend has flown by so quickly...:scared1:

Good morning sweeties! I have a three day weekend and it still wasn't enough. I am exhausted. Did some grocery shopping Friday, and cleaning all day Saturday and SUnday. I am gonna take a weekend off one day dang it!!!

Teri - that is great news about your son. So glad that you can sigh a breath of relief now.

Autumn - Your planned trip sounds great. I hope to get to England and Ireland someday, that has always been my dream.

I was laughing at the fair that was too scary for vampires. :rotfl2: I have this imagine in my head of the Lost Boys and fog surrounding the fairgrounds. We don't have a decent fair here either. It is pure bobo!

Good morning all! Hope everyone had a good weekend! I went to a comedy club Friday night with one of my girls. My husband was going to go, but he ended up getting sick on Friday. He has been voiceless all weekend. So we had a lazy day on saturday. Nice and quiet. ;)

Hi all!! Been hanging on the resorts board this AM, new discounts released for into 2011. Haven't even gone this year yet & I'm tempted for 2011. ;) I'm tempted by the free dining, but I told DH maybe we'd go to Disneyland instead. We've been there but it's been a few years now. He's ready to go back. I am too, but I can't resist WDW. Anybody have any tips on best time to do DL? Our preferred vacation times are May or fall: Sept, Oct, Nov. I'm thinking May for DL, then maybe I can talk him into WDW in Nov. ( A big maybe). DH doesn't get as much vacation time as I do, so he only likes to travel once a year. I could go somewhere every vacation. :rotfl: Oh well, got some more thinking to do about that.

Teri so glad your son's tests came back normal. :goodvibes What a great relief. I feel so bad for young people these days. There is so much pressure & they do get SOOO stressed. Both of my kids had anxiety episodes, too, while in college & working. Thankfully, they only had isolated episodes. Hope your son will only have a few, too.

We are doing a split stay at Disney, Port Orleans Riverside & Yacht Club. The only bad thing about a vacation coming soon: Means it will be over soon, too. :sad1: Only a true Disney fan could mourn & celebrate a vacation at the same time! :rotfl:

Lara: I used to be such a big cleaner. Now there's only the 2 of us, so things stay clean longer. I also let things go a little more in the summer; got to enjoy the good weather while it's here. :)

Diva: hope your DH feels better soon. It stinks to be sick in the summer. :flower3:

EDit: sorry duplicate post. It takes me so long to type things, I end up needing to log back in. Then my post got repeated!

Hey Focus! I just saw the free dinning for 2011. OMG I can't believe how far in advance they are doing it and for that long. When you do a split stay how does your luggage get moved? Do you take it and drive to the other resort or do they transport it for you?

Lara, we don't get a rental car, so we have had bell services move it for us in the past. Just tell bell services you need luggage moved to the next resort. You go to the parks, then just take Disney transportation to your new resort when you're ready. Call bell services at your new resort to have your things brought to your new room. The only draw back is your luggage might not get to your new resort til late afternoon.

This year, we are getting an annual pass with deluxe dining package during our Yacht Club stay. So I want to go to YC before we go to the park, so we can get our new cards with the dining credits on them. I'm thinking we'll just get a taxi to YC from POR. So we'll take our luggage with us & just give it to bell services to store if our rooms aren't ready when we get there. :)

I can't believe they are offering these discounts already either. Guess they have figured out how much people like the free dining. I'm hoping by spreading free dining thru out the year, maybe the restaurants won't be so crowded in September! :rotfl2:

Well we have AP that expire in January. I was so bummed out about not beig able to go before they did. I still may try to squeeze a Friday and Saturday in for Christmas so the kids can see the decorations. Not sure if I will be able to but I have to have something to look forward to.

I am tickled about free dining next year! I am gonna try and get my parents to get on board and go with us. If they get tired just take the bus back, I want a week though so I am not so rushed. I go in commando mode when I get there. I would love to relax a few days and enjoy the resort.

Lara, how far are you from WDW? We are a 2 and 1/2 hr plane ride. If we were just a 2&1/2 hr. car ride, I'd be wanting to go all the time. I could see DH & I getting into problems. He has more self restraint than I do. I'd probably be mad if we didn't go when I wanted to. :rotfl2:

When are you thinking of going during the free dining next year?

I am about a 4.5 hr car ride. It's not a bad drive at all. It's really hard not just saying to heck with it and loading up. I always drove myself so I know the way with my eyes closed. I am really lucky, I have gone 4 times since last October. I am addicted and so are the kids. The kids have only gone 2 of those times.

When we went in March with the kids, it was great. It was before the spring break rush (I did the unthinkable and kept my kids out of school for 3 days) there were no lines, the resturants were all great and not superbusy, we rode everything we wanted more than once. My first pick would be to go in October, but if I could get free dining by going in March again, I would. I loved the dining plan. It was nice to know we would always have our meals to look forward to. I have to take my DD13 to CRT before she doesn't want to do it.

Morning all. Been quite the chatty group this morning.

Teri, first before I talk nonsense, I'm glad to hear your son is okay. It's scary that anxiety can make you physically sick but I know that it does.

Yes, I have been to Las Vegas a lot. Both my current company and my former company did a lot of work there so business trips are common. It's a 50 minute flight and we can get tickets for under $100 so it's also a cheap getaway for my husband and I or for my girlfriends and I. I don't gamble but I love to eat and shop over there.

I can't believe they've already announced 2011 discounts!!! We have DVC so we can't take advantage. I wish I didn't own and it makes no sense to buy now with the great deals they keep offering. Although we can do dining plan, we don't. We've tried the various plans and they don't work for us.

No cleaning for me this weekend. I did work on the China scrapbook but didn't quite finish. I'm always like this; I go gang busters until the last 4 or so pages and then I'm mentally over it and it's a real chore to finish.

I can't believe it's Monday already. :headache:

Quiet bunch today! :ssst: Where is everyone? First off, thanks for all the nice words about my son and his health scare. :goodvibes He came over this afternoon with his friend and unloaded more furniture in my garage, AKA Sanford & Son junk dealers. I'm sure the neighbors are wondering if we are running some kind of thrift store over here. As soon as the weather gets chilly (say, to 85 degrees) I have to get out there and organize that garage!!! But I hope by then that I have found a new home for all the furniture that's taking up the whole garage. :sad2: We went shopping after that for things he needs in the new apt. (No roommates=no pooling of household items) This is starting to cost as much as his Christmas! Yikes!

OT: My DD is shopping for a new laptop. The one she had was a Gateway that they had to buy for med school. It kicked the bucket, so she has to get one ASAP. Luckily, she has an Iphone for emails. Do any of you have any suggestions - brands to buy, brands to avoid, what she should be sure it has, and also any opinions on Macbooks. She's not a huge computer buff, and I am certainly no help. ;) Remember, I hate Wednesday photo day! :rotfl The guy at Best Buy is really pushing a Mac. Of course, they're double the price. He probably works on commission. Thanks in advance if anybody is a techie who can help!

Hope everyone is having a nice evening! :thumbsup2

I am a HUGE Macbook girl, Teri. Seriously, I love, love, love mine. I've had PCs before and I definitely think Macs are worth the price difference. I've had mine for 3 years of university now and it's in great shape, never had a problem with it, so easy to use... I am a Mac girl for life.:thumbsup2 And their customer service is awesome.

The Apple store usually has some pretty good incentives too, like a free iTouch or free printer or something like that. Oh, and I would definitely get the AppleCare warranty, I kicked mine off the bed and broke the screen and they fixed it for free!

By the way, I promise I don't work for Apple!

Thanks, Meg! :goodvibes I think she really wants the Mac, but hates the big $ she'll have to spend. I think the only reason she is considering it is because she got a check in the mail today for $650. Last year in school she did some research along with a teaching doctor and the article she wrote was published in a medical journal. So she was paid by the publishing company! It was like a windfall when it came today, just as she was out computer shopping.

Normally she takes very good care of her computer, but she also kicked hers off her bed a couple of years ago. The school gave her a loaner and hers was fixed free of charge. But a warranty may be a good idea now.

Does it require alot of getting used to after having a PC for 12 years? Thanks for the tip of checking out the Apple store for incentives. today she was at Best Buy.

I'll pass the info on to her tomorrow!
