The Empty Nesters Magical Mystery Tour *1/28* Link to New Girl's TR p141

So if you're definitely planning on DL, which you know I highly recommend, that's a big expense too. For a 5 day hopper pass it cost $300 last September. Not sure if prices have gone up. If I could have managed two trips in a year it would have made more sense to upgrade to a Premier AP but it just wasn't possible.

If you can apply your AAA rewards to tickets bought through them that might be the way to go. Forgoing WDW for 18 months does sound like a long time. How many trips will you do in the next year? Have you looked how much the tickets will cost for each trip? I'm sure you have but I'm just thinking out loud. 7 day base tickets are $345 with tax. Depending on how long both trips are you'll have saved money buying the DVC PAP. Of course I have no idea how much your AAA rewards are and that may offset the price enough to have that be a better way to go.

So, maybe make this a DL year with some non-Disney trips thrown in, like a long HHI trip or something else you've been wanting to do but feel like since you have tickets might as well go to WDW. Just some thoughts.

Your breakfast and Dismeet sound great! Especially if it prompted a "What a Woman!" :lmao: That's so funny.

It was really a great meet and so funny to see Denny smitten with another DISer. It was a great morning!

Lovely to get some downtime in the pool.

It's always lovely to hit pool, whether its a short or long visit, I love me some pool time! :thumbsup2

Ok, Todd and Paul are creepy as heck, we all know that, but I seriously think that the fact that they move and that they HAVE NAMES is super extra creepy. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: No - its that they have names AND move during the day that makes them extra creepy, especially when they are back in their spots late at night. *shudder* :scared1:

Sneaky lens caps. I usually lose mine around the house. Sometimes I find them again after I've bought a new one.

Better around the house than in France in the world showcase. That thing totally disappeared. It was crazy!

You may of course believe what you wish, but that's a sun glare, not an orb ;) hahaha that's why it's in the shape of an aperture! Although it could be an orb coming into your camera through your aperture and taking that shape! (Insert some creepy music here!)

The voice of reason from a photographer. Yes - it's hard to ignore but "I'm not listening - Nah Nah Nah Nah". ::yes::

What a wonderful view over your adult beverages! So so beautiful!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

An adult beverage is only made better by the background its photographed in. :rotfl:

For some reason, I find it funny that Denny was so into the breakfast Dis Meet. It took John a while to realize that Dis Meets could be fun.

Men - its always takes them awhile to get with the program, doesn't it? :rotfl: It was really cute watching Denny and Jen and then having it comment about her. I'm really glad he had a fun time and that he is finally adjusting to creepy internet strangers. ::yes::

The afternoon in Epcot looks absolutely wonderful! Lots of blue skies and spending time with family.

It was a great afternoon and one that flew by so quickly. I really enjoyed it.

Oh and I almost forgot...the possible orb. I believe in them too and have captured pictures of a few right here in our office. If you ever come to Louisiana, you need to go to The Myrtles. It's one of the most haunted places in the United States. My sister stayed there overnight and has several pictures that captured orbs and what we believe are ghosts.

That sounds SO cool! I remember when I was in Savannah. I kept trying to get Orbs to show up in my pictures, but they never did. I would love to see your sister's pictures. Definitely cool stuff!

Sounds like you had a great breakfast and a fun DIS meet! :thumbsup2
.

We really did. It was a lot of fun and I'm so glad I got to meet Jen and Michelle. They are both lovely ladies!

It's been so fun getting to know everyone, and even meeting some of you - it's really enriched my life and my Disney life. I echo what you said, MEK; I feel like I have friends all over the US (and some in other countries, too!). I was telling my mom a story about one of my friends the other day, and she said "Is this a friend I would know, or one of your Disney friends?" :rotfl:
.

:lmao: That is SO something Denny would say! :lmao: But it's cool. I love my Disney friends and I enjoy meeting new DIS friends here on the boards and in real life. It is very enriching. Well said!

I totally believe in the mediums, and people communicating with those that have past on. I also think they are here around us, among us. My grandma's "sign" from her loved ones has always been a cardinal; when my mom was getting cancer treatment at Mayo Clinic about 25 years ago, my aunt called my grandma and said, "I knew Nancy was going to be OK because on the car ride up, about a dozen cardinals went over the car." She also sees cardinals at their home a lot and thinks it's my grandpa, coming to be near her. I think she's right. I believe Tracy's spirit is often at Disney.
.

Wow - that gives me goose bumps. Cardinals - what a cool sign.

I know that Christine & Brielle were on safari and they got to a clearing where all the giraffes were sitting down. The guide said, "they never do this" and both C & Brielle knew it was Tracy because Tracy loved giraffes. :goodvibes

The beer flight looks good!! I have heard that grapefruit beer is good, I will have to try that one of these times.

As far as I know its only available for F&W. I would LOVE to see it year round. So yummy!

oh how I want to try that grapefruit beer...is it only available during F & W?

As far as I know its only available then. That's the only time I've seen it. I would LOVE to see that change. It's so yummy! :thumbsup2

Looks like an orb to me....I know we both believe in that:goodvibes
[/COLOR]

I totally believe it in. I know Wendy says its sun glare but whose to say that sun glare is not a sign. I find it interesting when I see that AFTER the pictures are uploaded but I never notice it when I go back to look at my pics in the view finder. :confused3 That's why I think its supernatural.

I forgot to mention the Orb! That was definitely for Tracy. :goodvibes

Whenever I see something unexpected like that I totally think of Tracy. And whether its her or not, its the memory and the possibility of a crossover between this world and the next. :thumbsup2

That Premier AP is super expensive. I looked at that and it didn't seem worth it for one DL trip.

So here's my plan without the AP:

October 2014: cruise, Universal for 2 -3 days, MNSSHP, water park (I have a non-expiring ticket) and whatever else we might want to do in Orlando.

Disneyland in Feb 2015 - probably 4 park days and then go to San Diego or San Fran According to the crowd calendars the last week of Feb is really low crowds. I have points I have to use by the end of Feb or I need to bank. This has never happened to me before.

Summer 2015 - Maybe Vero Beach and Saint Augustine (or do something in Canada)

November or December 2015 - DisneyWorld - I am CRAVING a Christmas trip BIG time! I would buy an AP for this trip.

Now if I buy the AP I would:

Still try not to activate in October unless I couldn't stand it because I really want to do some other things

Activate at the end of January 2015 - go to WDW for a week

Back to WDW in the Spring or Early Fall (May or September)

Back to WDW in December

So, maybe make this a DL year with some non-Disney trips thrown in, like a long HHI trip or something else you've been wanting to do but feel like since you have tickets might as well go to WDW. Just some thoughts.

See above.

See my dilemma. I mean, both plans look good but I really feel like I should go to DL. The more TRs I read about it and the more DISers rave over it the more I feel I really need to experience it myself. It really looks like a special place.

The DL scenario sounds better to me, especially since you have the itch to visit. I'll tell you though, four days won't be enough. And Vero Beach absolutely stole my heart so putting that trip in there sounds blissful to me :)

And you already have the waterpark tickets, I'm sure October is a fabulous time to do the waterparks. With MNSSHP you'll get some park time in. I'm liking the non-AP plans :)

But really, DL deserves a trip, you'll love it.

:thumbsup2 At least we are finally getting some decent weather! I hope baseball is going well without many game cancellations. Hope you didn't play last night. It was icky here!

We have been very lucky with no rain make ups with he traveling teams. With 5 of 7 grandkids and 2 "honorary" grandkids I am busy. Fortunately a couple of grandkids play on the same team. Still leaves me FOUR teams and my DGS's high school team to keep up on. My camera gets a workout.

Fish n chips is probably not the thing to try if you don't like fish! :rotfl2: Thumbs up :thumbsup2 to a black and tan!

I would love to try the fish and chips. Maybe when I actually go to London in a couple of years.

I hear ya on that. I am not much for waiting around. I took my tripod once. I was a pain to pack it and then even more of a pain to carry it around. I guess if we ever drive I'll take it, but otherwise its just too much work cause its awkward.

I have driven the last couple of trips but always leave the tripod in the car. One day I am doing a photo trip only.

Have you already stayed there before? If not, you are going to love AKL.It's such a great resort and wandering around in the morning sounds absolutely perfect. It's a great way to stay relaxed while you are waiting for someone to get ready!

No I visited once for dinner so I am really looking forward to it. 19 days!!!

Now to catch up again.

The breakfast meet looked like fun. My DH is like Denny with the channels on TV. He only gives them up for the Phillies and the Flyers.

MS is another ride I have scratched from my ride list. I thought I was going to die last time I rode it. I will take pictures and my traveling companions can ride it.

I need to get cords to attach my caps to something. I have lost one or two and at the price of my lenses I don't need a scratch on the glass.

That was a great spot to sit and relax. And I totally agree that was an orb. I believe in those things too. I have even seen a couple of ghosts. once while driving. That was a little spooky. It was a jogger next to a cemetery. My kids thought I was insane at the time.

Caught up again, for now.

Nice update Anonymous 10. :rotfl2:

Meet looks fantastic. I also love when Michael enjoys a meet.

That lady chair always gives me the creeps. :scared1:

And if there's a war channel, specifically WWII, Michael is watching it too. :rotfl:

The DL scenario sounds better to me, especially since you have the itch to visit. I'll tell you though, four days won't be enough.

I definitely have the itch to visit.

So you don't think 4 days in the parks will be enough. I was thinking staying there 5 nights but I would also like to either see San Diego or San Fran. I was thinking traveling a Friday to Sunday - 9 nights total. I could do 5 days in the park. Do you think 5 nights is enough or no?

And Vero Beach absolutely stole my heart so putting that trip in there sounds blissful to me :)

I haven't been to Vero since our first DVC trip so I would definitely like to travel there. I only stayed 3 nights and that was not near enough. I could go late summer or early September and I think it would be more on the dead side, but who knows. The points are definitely low in September.

And you already have the waterpark tickets, I'm sure October is a fabulous time to do the waterparks. With MNSSHP you'll get some park time in. I'm liking the non-AP plans :)

There's actually a little beer fest thing going on in Celebration while we are there. So I thought we would do that one day, two days at US, one day for MNSSHP (getting there right at 4 and staying till they kick us out), one day for the water park (I have 5 tickets, Denny will need to get one). Then we go on the cruise for 4 nights. Then we will be back for one more night. I want to try mini-golf and bowling, too. But the bowling is expensive. I also want to do a segway tour.

But really, DL deserves a trip, you'll love it.

Denny has a work friend who went out there and he loved it, so I know Denny's sold on it. And the more TRs I read the more I know I have to go.

:faint: Oh WOW! That's a lot of baseball to keep track of. I know when my son's play soccer I took a TON of pictures! I couldn't upload and edit them fast enough.

I hope all four teams have a great season. I'm sure you are rained out tonight. No way around that.

I would love to try the fish and chips. Maybe when I actually go to London in a couple of years.

Nice! :thumbsup2

I have driven the last couple of trips but always leave the tripod in the car. One day I am doing a photo trip only.

That sounds really fun!

No I visited once for dinner so I am really looking forward to it. 19 days!!!Now to catch up again.

You are going to LOVE it! :thumbsup2 I know I said that already, but it is really an amazing resort. Your camera will get a really good work out there!

The breakfast meet looked like fun. My DH is like Denny with the channels on TV. He only gives them up for the Phillies and the Flyers.

:rotfl2: That sounds familiar!

The breakfast meet was a ton of fun! We both really enjoyed it.

MS is another ride I have scratched from my ride list. I thought I was going to die last time I rode it. I will take pictures and my traveling companions can ride it.

Yeah - I don't do the orange side. I can do green, but not orange. Those days are over. Too bad because when I first rode it I thought it was amazing.

I need to get cords to attach my caps to something. I have lost one or two and at the price of my lenses I don't need a scratch on the glass.

Amazon. I found a cheap multipack on there. Like 5 for $5. Can't beat that.

That was a great spot to sit and relax. And I totally agree that was an orb. I believe in those things too. I have even seen a couple of ghosts. once while driving. That was a little spooky. It was a jogger next to a cemetery. My kids thought I was insane at the time.

Really? REALLY? How did you know it was a ghost? I mean - you could see through it and everything? What time of day? That gives me the chills. I totally believe in the afterlife. It's fascinating.

Caught up again, for now.

:thumbsup2

You and everyone else! :rotfl2:

And if there's a war channel, specifically WWII, Michael is watching it too. :rotfl:

There is - It's called the Military Channel. I haven't seen him watch it lately but I assume it still exists. I mean, who doesn't like to watch recreations of famous battles. I know that's high on my list! :rotfl2:

Hmmmm....your mission "anonymous spy" MEK....should you choose to accept it....is to synchronize our calendars and try for another DISmeet. I think we've already discovered we will be at WDW during different times this October (DCL 10/2-10/5 & BCV 10/5-10/10 for us) but DW and I were thinking about a Christmas trip Nov/Dec 2015. Our only other semi-scheduled Disney related trip is probably Aug 2015 for the DCL Alaska cruise. Sooooo, the mission is for Denny, MEK, Saintstickets, Grace and as many other DISboarders as possible to meet for the Candlelight Processional dinner at the restaurant of choice followed by attendance at one of the best Christmas celebrations ever in front of the American pavilion!!! We will buy an AP before the Christmas 2015 trip and get two more trips in during 2016 with one during F&G and the other probably F&W. Nothing like planning 2 years in advance! :sad2:

I think that's a GREAT idea! :cool1: I'm definitely in for a Christmas 2015 synchronization. What were you thinking? I was actually toying with the "come in early November before F&W is over and stay until the Christmas trees are up". I would think that be right after the last Halloween party. But I can be persuaded to go later, as well, like the first week of December. Give it some thought and let me know. I love the CP idea. And I love your 2015 -2016 plans for your AP use. I think that's probably when we will go in 2016 as well.

I have had a couple of ghost sightings. My mom has an elderly woman ghost at her house. My brother and I have both seen her. Not see through but more like a hazy figure. My SIL refuses to stay in my parents back room as she has put an icy hand on my SIL's leg a few times.

There is one in my house that my kids and I have seen as well as a few of their friends. They were in our basement when someone came down the stairs and went into the laundry room. Only no one was in there when they looked a few seconds later. This one likes to play pranks and move things.

The one I saw while driving - that one threw me. I swerved to avoid hitting the "jogger". My kids all yelled at me that I was trying to kill them. When I told them I was trying to avoid the jogger they looked at me like I was insane and told me no one was there. I swear there was a male figure jogging.

The one incident that really got to me though involved my grandmother. I was in the mood for a Cheese Danish so headed off to the neighborhood bakery. I had a Tazmanian Devil hanging from my rear view mirror. He would make noises if you activated him. At the time he was off and had no batteries as they had died. When I parked the car he went insane making all kinds of noises. My grandparents had owned a bakery and I knew it was my grandmother. When I said, "Mama I have no choice you are gone and so is the bakery. I'm sorry," the noise stopped. It was eerie but I know it was her.

Yes I believe.

You'll be able to get a lot done in 4-5 days at DL but there is tons to do. You'll need another trip no matter how long you go for. I had a 5 day hopper and still have lots I missed. Now I'm not a park commando either so that should be factored in.

I was at Vero for three nights also, not enough time I agree. I don't know when I'll get back for a longer trip but its definitely on the list.

Have you decided whether or not to buy the PAPs?

So many questions and I'm actually leaning against it. I just don't want to have regrets.
A lot to think about there. I understand your conflict about it, but man, it would be hard to turn down the pass...

Denny was reluctant about this DIS meet since it was heavy on the estrogen, but I dare say this was one of his favorites.
Well, I'm glad to see that you had another great DIS meet and that Denny even enjoyed himself. :thumbsup2

All except for the FP +, because I needed to change things and, well, we all know how that goes on the phone. I couldn’t really tell whether the changes I made had stuck. Ugh.
This... Is one of the things I don't like about FP+ :furious:

Yup - that’s right. It rolled and rolled and rolled and…… well, you get the picture. And I never found it again. Not kidding. Gone! Just like that. So now I only had one lens cap for two lens. Great!
Simple answer... the squirrels beat you to it. :lmao:

I tried to convince my nephew’s wife to let Denny and I watch the kids while they all went on TT and then we could go with our FP’s

Would I be convincing enough?
Seriously???

If their answer wasn't "okseeyabye" there must be something wrong with them. Never turn down the opportunity to let someone watch your kids while you ride a big kid ride... unless of course it is a stranger. :rotfl2::lmao:

Whenever I see something unexpected like that I totally think of Tracy.

:thumbsup2

That Premier AP is super expensive. I looked at that and it didn't seem worth it for one DL trip.

Nope, you need 2 to make it pencil

Hmmn I don't see a girls trip in there :rotfl:

I can tell you that we ended up with 5 days in the parks on this past DL trip. It REALLY will depend on crowd levels and touring style. Historically I've thought you only need 3 days but honestly, there is a ton we didn't get done. A lot of that was due to a combo of crowds and my parents moving a lot slower.

Also know that Feb/March may not be all that warm. It will be very pleasant but mornings and evening will be chilly.

LOVE the update. So jealous you got to spend real time with Jen, we barely had a chance to hug, say hi and take a picture in December! Love her.

I have had a couple of ghost sightings. My mom has an elderly woman ghost at her house. My brother and I have both seen her. Not see through but more like a hazy figure. My SIL refuses to stay in my parents back room as she has put an icy hand on my SIL's leg a few times.

Yikes! WT...? That's crazy scary. Does your mom live close to you?

There is one in my house that my kids and I have seen as well as a few of their friends. They were in our basement when someone came down the stairs and went into the laundry room. Only no one was in there when they looked a few seconds later. This one likes to play pranks and move things.

How odd that both yours and your mom's house have ghosts. Are you both really open to spirits? Clearly you must be. When did you discover this? Have you ever found ghosts in other people's houses?

The one I saw while driving - that one threw me. I swerved to avoid hitting the "jogger". My kids all yelled at me that I was trying to kill them. When I told them I was trying to avoid the jogger they looked at me like I was insane and told me no one was there. I swear there was a male figure jogging.

Now that IS super creepy. I just really wish I understood how some people can connect and others can't.

Wow! That's another really amazing story. I have no doubt that was your grandmother.

Yes I believe.

Not only do you believe but you can cross over. That is really a gift.

You'll be able to get a lot done in 4-5 days at DL but there is tons to do. You'll need another trip no matter how long you go for. I had a 5 day hopper and still have lots I missed. Now I'm not a park commando either so that should be factored in.

But that's the best part of Disney. You leave fulfilled but still wanting to experience more. I love that! I want to discover a new special place!

I was at Vero for three nights also, not enough time I agree. I don't know when I'll get back for a longer trip but its definitely on the list.

I'd like to stay at least 5 full nights at Vero. Denny is definitely on board for a Vero trip next summer so I think its a plan!

Have you decided whether or not to buy the PAPs?

Well, its 10pm and they have not been purchased so I am going with Plan A. I feel pretty comfortable about it. I feel like I have had A LOT of park time over the last several years. It's time to shake it up with some variety. I'll be OK - I think. :rotfl2:

Yikes! WT...? That's crazy scary. Does your mom live close to you?

My mom is about 10 minutes from me. Close but far enough away that I can escape her when I need to do that. Don't get me wrong I love my mom but we are very different. We are going to England in a year or two and she tried to tell me NO cameras. And she DOESN'T like Disney. I have tried to claim I was adopted.

How odd that both yours and your mom's house have ghosts. Are you both really open to spirits? Clearly you must be. When did you discover this? Have you ever found ghosts in other people's houses?

My mom has never really seen the ghost at her house. She does believe it was the former owner who died I her sleep in the house. She was in her 80's when she passed away, I first saw the older woman when I was in my early 20's. I have felt things but never really seen anything in other houses so I don't know how receptive I am but yes I really do believe. I love Ghost Hunters. Some of the places have been around here and I would love to go looking myself.

I just really wish I understood how some people can connect and others can't.

I honestly don't know why I can. It's not all the time but I like knowing that ghosts like me.

Wow! That's another really amazing story. I have no doubt that was your grandmother.

The funny thing is I was never a favorite grandchild but I loved the bakery. I learned manners at the hand of this grandmother who once banned me for a week because I didn't ask for a cookie, didn't say please or thank you. We had a connection that came from the bakery and I think she just wanted me to remember.

I really believe that babies are very open. My grandkids have stared at the ceiling and just smiled and babbled away. I truly believe it was my grandmothers coming to visit them. I love finding people that believe in the spirits around us. So my people think I am crazy.

I just got caught up on your report. Haven't been around much lately. Nice updates and as always great pictures!!!

A lot to think about there. I understand your conflict about it, but man, it would be hard to turn down the pass...

Well, I decided to pass on the pass. And I'm comfortable with my decision. Now I can focus on planning our Disneyland trip. I'm sure another AP offer will come around soon enough.

Well, I'm glad to see that you had another great DIS meet and that Denny even enjoyed himself. :thumbsup2

It was a lot of fun and it was even better that Denny enjoyed it. That was a real bonus!

This... Is one of the things I don't like about FP+ :furious:

I honestly thought a lot of it had to do with my phone because its older and slower. I agree with you that the app should work flawlessly. No excuse.

Simple answer... the squirrels beat you to it. :lmao:

:rotfl2: Maybe it did? :faint:

Seriously???

If their answer wasn't "okseeyabye" there must be something wrong with them. Never turn down the opportunity to let someone watch your kids while you ride a big kid ride... unless of course it is a stranger. :rotfl2::lmao:

Well, you are going to have to stay tuned to find out the verdict. :scratching

It's weird, but I do. I think she's out there putting out signs for people to see!

Nope, you need 2 to make it pencil

Yup, and it didn't. I wanted it too, but nope!

Hmmn I don't see a girls trip in there :rotfl:

OMG - You're right! I know we were trying to stay on our every 18 month schedule. I really do want to do a Christmas trip though. Do you think we can make it 24 months instead of 18 this go-round? So many trips. So not enough time off from work. I like my new job but I totally had more flexible vacation time at the old job. *sigh*

That's what Pam said too so I think I'll plan for 5 nights and 5 days in the park. I'm very excited to see DL. I looks like such a cool place.

Also know that Feb/March may not be all that warm. It will be very pleasant but mornings and evening will be chilly.

I figured that. As long as its pleasant, like you said I will bring warm clothes for night. I'd rather go in the warmer weather, but I also want to book still in my use year. From looking at a crowd calendar it looks like the last week of February and the first two weeks of March are really low crowds. I guess that's the trade off.

LOVE the update. So jealous you got to spend real time with Jen, we barely had a chance to hug, say hi and take a picture in December! Love her.

It was really fun meeting Jen and Michelle. They are both so lovely and so friendly. I really, really enjoyed meeting both of them!

OMG - How could you possibly travel to England and NOT bring a camera? :confused3 Your mom must know about your love for photographer.

I know not everyone loves Disney so I'll let her slide on that one! :rotfl:

My mom has never really seen the ghost at her house. She does believe it was the former owner who died I her sleep in the house. She was in her 80's when she passed away, I first saw the older woman when I was in my early 20's. I have felt things but never really seen anything in other houses so I don't know how receptive I am but yes I really do believe. I love Ghost Hunters. Some of the places have been around here and I would love to go looking myself.

That's very cool to have had those supernatural experiences. You are very fortunate!

I honestly don't know why I can. It's not all the time but I like knowing that ghosts like me.

That must be reassuring. I think most ghosts and spirits are calm and kind, but I am sure there are trapped spirits who are anything but.

The funny thing is I was never a favorite grandchild but I loved the bakery. I learned manners at the hand of this grandmother who once banned me for a week because I didn't ask for a cookie, didn't say please or thank you. We had a connection that came from the bakery and I think she just wanted me to remember.I really believe that babies are very open. My grandkids have stared at the ceiling and just smiled and babbled away. I truly believe it was my grandmothers coming to visit them. I love finding people that believe in the spirits around us. So my people think I am crazy.

That is cool that you and your grandmother had that common bond. How lovely.

I agree - babies, children, and animals are open. If I wasn't so tired I would tell this story which has to explain my closest encounter with a spirit. I still remember it very well.

I just got caught up on your report. Haven't been around much lately. Nice updates and as always great pictures!!!

:thumbsup2 Yay for getting caught up! I know you are probably still busy with spring sports. Thanks! Glad you like the pics! Have you updated recently? I'll have to check in this weekend!

I am too late to offer my advice but we did last time they offered the deal for PAP and we still didn’t go to any water park or DQ. We opted not to buy it this time. If they still gave the 20% discount I would have. We do have to buy a regular AP by October. Even if we do not go we still buy. Don’t ask me why. LOL.
That is great the DISMEET went so good and Denny had a good time.
Anonymous10. LOL. That is funny.
That stinks about the cap. The drink looks good.
Grapefruit beer sounds good.
All caught up again.
