okkkkkkkkkkkkay try Genesis for starters truly I can't see how you can be both a believer & an evolutionist one contradicts the other BUT can't we agree that this particular family has the right to believe what they believe do what they want have the amount of children that they believe God has sent them and let it go at that? Out of respect for their choices that's all

Have your read and studied Genesis? How do you accept the two contradictory accounts in Genesis? Both can't be right is you are a believer! I am a Christian and Do believe in Evolution.

Ironically enough, you could catch the second half of the very first special on Discovery Health right now. This is the one wher the scripted responses of the kids directly mirror things i was taught to say when questioned. Take a look at it, if you have any uestion as to what they are about. Those poor kids look like robots.

Wow. If I came out of my childhood with such hate for a group of people I'd be seeking out a counselor.

There is no evidence the children of that family are abused. To randomly accuse people of abuse is heart sickening. I've heard all kinds of excuses for profiling groups for hate and the ones on this thread are no less offensive. Of course the haters are only going to continue to justify their hate. Bigotry is so ugly.

Every time I see the show I just think of how both of my parents have 8 brothers/sisters and how both sides have 1 or 2 "black sheep" that want nothing to do with the family, are gypsies/hippies, and/or criminals. Makes me think about how all of these kids will turn out as they get older.

There is another family that has a bunch of kids, also homeschool, live in Colorado.(Their last name is Jeub.) Their oldest DD has made choices that the family does not agree with and for a long time, they cut off all contact with her. This, though the parents had this same daughter out of wedlock. Pot...kettle and all of that. I would much rather watch the Duggars than them! I saw them speak at a conference a few years ago. Really condescending IMO and act like their way is THE way. I would love to hear Michelle Duggar speak sometime.

I am not randomly accusing anyone. Knowing what I know about how these groups operate, things that they have said over and over indicate to me that they are likley to be abusing thier kids, or at least have in the past. There is much more that I question the further back in thier public history I go. I of couse do not know for a fact one way or the other, but all incations to me say it is happening. I know for a fact that quiverfull advocates physical correction of children, which is thier code for not spanking but beating children. I have seen the bruises that leaves first hand. So yes many familes that buy wholeheartedly into quiverfull abuse thier children. Taht does not necessarily mean all dfo, but the movement strongly advocates it. I refuse to apologize for saying what I know to be true, or what I suspect based on evidence I have seen. I also refuse to be called vile or a biggot becuase I do not care for people who abuse children. I cannot believe anyone would expect me to be tolerant of child abuse. I don't hate anyone. I hate much of what uiverfull stands for in terms of subjugating women and abusing children, and i hate that so many have bought wholeheartedly into the idea that it is soemhow the will ofGod to do these things. I hate that there are parents out there that abuse thier kids in the name of God, but I don't hate anyone. I hate thier actions. I feel sorry for them and for thier children, but no, I don't hate them.

BTW- Regarding the theory of evolution, the Bible makes it very clear that we were created, not evolved.

The creation process for anything is an evolution. The very act of creating changes.

Sometimes people need to make everything about them. That is where professional help can be such a blessing. There isn't anything wrong with seeking out a counselor to help get through those issues. Living a life of hate isn't good for anyone.

Your Statement is part of an attitude that really angers me. You go on about choices but then get mad because they are referring to a "feminine profession". So Choices only count if they are going to go to College and get what you consider an acceptable career? Why is homemaking and motherhood, or nursing or whatever "feminine" choice they make not okay? I love the idea of having the choice of what you want to do but that really means having the choice. All the choices from Motherhood to Wall Street, not just ones that are socially expected. Perhaps that is not what you meant but that is how it sounded to me.

No, choices count when it is the girl/woman making them. I'm a SAHM right now (for the last 11 years); if ever I return to the workforce it'll most likely be as a teacher. I have no problem with young women choosing traditionally female occupations. I do have a problem with fathers who pigeonhole their daughters into stereotypical roles while encouraging their sons to follow their interests.

Not everyone interprets the Bible literally. You can absolutely be a believer and still believe in evolution, guided by the divine rather than nature/random chance, as the means by which the diversity of life was created.

I've been reading this thread wondering just how terrible it would get. You just took the prize.

I find it interesting that when someone brings a voice of experience to the thread, they are accused of being "hateful". I see nothing hateful in ANYONE's postings. A difference of opinion, yes. The voice of someone whos' "been there, done that" and has concern for the children, yes. But nothing hateful.

Telling someone on a discussion board that they need therapy based on a few posts is just uncalled for, and shows a real lack of judgement on your part if you ask me. You really know NOTHING about this person and their life.

All I have to say is that given that the last one she had had such a hard time (Baby Josie) She really should call it quits as she is not getting any younger I'm all for babies are a blessing and being fruitful but come on at some point you have to realize that this is getting dangerous. They really should consider putting their baby making on ice enjoy each other & the 19 plus grandkid they have.

Ok....this thread has REALLY de-railed into a train wreck now.... religion, politics, name calling.....if there is a moderator, I am sure what started out as a very interesting thread will now most likely be locked soon. That is sad because some can't stay on topic and begin to make it very personal.
I hope I am wrong and it can turn back into the civil, interesting thread it once was discussing THE DUGGAR FAMILY , but sadly.....I think it may have gone too far off course for that

sorry I didnt post this for it to end like this. I'm sorry it has turned into something like this. I was just stunned how the Duggars are able to make it work with a family of 21 , when so many of us with families of 3(like me) 4, 5, 6 have such a hardtime making ends meet or getting out of debt.

I'm sad that some have gotten their feeling hurt. I guess its time to close this out .

she is home and they found out she is lactose intolerant so now that she is weaned, she is on formula and doing much better. She still has a long way to go, but is definitely improving
