I am really curious(and a little nosy) to know where everyone has gone to get their dresses. Boutiques, designers, custom designs, someone else's closet....where did you find the perfect dress and how much were you willing to spend on it?

I haven't gone dress shopping yet, so I have no clue.... :confused3 ....FILL ME IN! :thumbsup2

My dress came from a small bridal boutique near my home in Shelby Township, Michigan. The designer is Jasmine Bridal, and it was $1400. It's a LOT of fabric and detail, so I didn't think the price was all that bad. I feel like a total princess in it...I can't wait to wear it!! princess:
This is my gown:

And this is me in my gown (it's Gold - the one in the picture above is Ivory I believe)...

It's my dream dress... :cloud9:

My gown is from a bridal shop in San Francisco called the Bridal Galleria. It's a Monique Lhuillier dress with a lace top, and a big ribbon/light brown sash tied around my waist. It was more expensive then we wanted to spend....but...it was THE dress....once I saw it on me...I had to have it.... ....the big shiny ribbon was mostly the selling point for me! :lmao: Around about $4,000.....a bit more with alterations....

I went to David's Bridal to see some of my old co-workers. I ended up finding one of the Oleg Cassini gowns that they had on a Sample sale. I got a fantastic deal. Only $550! It is absolutely stunning.

I bought my dress from Macy's bridal. This is terrible, but I do not remember the name of the designer  It's some type of Macy's couture designer that is being made exactly to my measurements. So far it has cost $2500 (I was not willing to spend that much $ at first, but that changed when I saw "the dress"). I will post pics when I go for my first fitting.

Good luck, I know you will find the perfect dress :)

I got mine at a bridal salon in Killeen, Tx. It was $450. I saw this dress online and loved it. It's a Mary's Bridal dress.

Ohh have so much fun dress shopping! It's simply wonderful (even if you don't get that "this is the one feeling" right away).

I got my dress shop from a boutique in Philadelphia - Bridals by Danielle. My sister's name is Danielle so I knew I would be lucky there. I bought an Eve of milady dress and it was $3200...plus $400 for alterations(I swear they make you order it big so they can charge you to take it in) and $300 for the veil.

Good luck! When is the big day?

I got my dress at a small bridal shop in my home town. It is a Venus Dress and it was $700 with tax and my vail was $65.00. I also purchased the bridesmaids dresses there as well also Venus. They were $115.00 with tax. I looked at other shops and they wanted $140.00 for the BM dresses!

I'm planning on getting my dress from David's Bridal. No idea who the designer is, but it's $549. My mom fell in love with one of the veils there that costs $199, so she's getting that for me as well.

I went dress shopping at Saks. I was just going to check things out, because I was never going to spend that kind of money on a dress. Nooooo, not me....uh huh.

While I was there I fell in love with two dresses--a Kenneth Pool and a Monique Lhullier. So, I couldn't decide, and still thought that kind of money was a little much.

I found a custom designer that does couture quality work, and we sort of designed a combination dress. I still got my duchess silk satin and hand appliqued and embroidered lace, and I got to add details I wanted, like specific type of Swarovski crystals. (And actually, the ladies on here were a lot of help!)

So, my advice is to start looking as early as possible, take your time, try on everything, and HAVE FUN! It's hard work, but it is also lots of fun.

I got my dress from David's Bridal. I had major problems with my original dress and had to get a brand new dress 3 weeks before my wedding! I had about 1 hour to find a new dress to get it altered in time to leave for my wedding. It's a LONG story, but it all worked out! I loved my dress and it was perfect! It was more beautiful than the original dress I had picked, so things happen for a reason! :wizard:

I feel in love with my designer in a magazine (eve of milady)....loved the embroidery work...ended up at her trunk show in tampa florida....tried on her whole line and loved them all but nothing was perfect....so decided on a road trip to her main boutique and found the dress....it was one of her amalia carrara dresses...it was perfect...we dont tell DH what it cost....

I got mine at a bridal boutique near my hometown in Central PA. I had no idea going in that day that I was actually going to pick out my dress - my fiance (we had only been engaged 1 month) was leaving to go back to Philly and my sister (MOH) and best friend (BM) were determined to cheer me up by taking me to look at dresses. When I saw it, I knew it was THE ONE and tried it on. I remember saying "But I'm not getting married for another two years! I can't try it on yet..." but the sales lady helped me put it on and we all just sort of stared at it like "Yep. That's definitely it."

Now 5 months out from the wedding, the dress is hanging in my closet at home. I'm lucky - I got it on a sale (it was discontinued in June) and my grandmother is doing the alterations so total I'm only spending $700 on my dress. My veil was my mother's and grandmother's so I'm all done.

I can't post pics yet but I'll describe it as best I can. It's a white strapless A-line with a semi-cathedral train. The bodice and the hem have beadwork detailing and it has a shawl that matches it. If you really want to see it, PM me and I can send you a link. :goodvibes

I went to a bridal boutique in the town my parent's lived in. Mom was ill and couldn't travel to Orlando (where I was living at the time) to go dress shopping with me, so I went up to her. That was one of our last days together and one of my fondest memories.

I loved the boutique - Jay's Bridal - I think they sell dresses on-line too. My consultant was an angel. She pulled 20 or 25 dresses. My first reaction was "Dang these things are SO heavy!!" THE dress was one that I'd actually clipped a picture out of a bridal magazine but didn't realize it was the same dress until I had it on. I walked out of the dressing room and my mom said "That's it! That's the one!" and I knew she was right. But, I kept trying. I tried on Cinderella gowns, lace gowns, beaded gowns, just about every kind of gown they had, and it was THE dress for sure! I didn't intend to get a semi-cathedral train, but it just was the most perfect dress for me that I'd ever seen!

Mom was willing to pay for my dress but I didn't want her to do that, I'm over 30 and have been on my own for a long time, and DH and I were paying for the wedding, so she paid half. We were willing to go to $1,000 but even that seemed ridiculous for a dress I'd wear for 2 hours one day of my life. But, when you have found THE dress you know it and you're willing to pay for it! My gown was just under $900 and they made it to my measurements and I had extra material added to the back.

I found my Demetrios gown at a small boutique not far from my office. It was the 3rd dress I tried on. The cost was around $900.

wow....everyone's dresses sound great! There is quite the range, but I think one thing is for sure. Once you find "the dress" it seems for most of you, it didn't matter the cost as long as you felt like a princess. princess:

I have yet to go shopping, mainly because I am taking 20 credit hours at school and work almost full time. I have no free time! Now, if bridal boutiques were open in the middle of the night I might have some time :rotfl2:

As soon as I find the dress, I will post pictures. Keep your answers coming and pictures too!

I found mine at Alfred Angelo store...it was the third dress I tried on (I went to David's Bridal first just to look) I find the dress on the internet and went there to try it on. They made it in my color choice (white and blue jay) and it was $649 plus alterations (which I haven't done yet) It took about 2 months to come in

I found mine at a (kind of) local bridal shop...well I guess here in so cal everything is "kind of" local...it was about 30 min from my house...

my dream dress! everything I could have ever wanted - boned, sweetheart bodice, full, organza ballgown skirt...Essense of Australia - came upon it at a trunk show that happened to be going on when my sister and I went to the shop. I had been pretty much set on a david's dress, but not after I tried this on... :goodvibes

even now, over a year later, I would have picked the same thing! :thumbsup2

No, I'm a Army Brat. This is the second time I have lived here. My Dad is stationed at Fort Hood. He is in Iraq and should be home soon. Yes very close by. Where did you get your dress? It's so beautiful.
