"The Disneyland Diet"

Thanks for the encouragement ladies!

I think it's definitely ok to have some treats at DL. I plan to keep truckin' with these changes and I'll be dreaming of churros and tigger tails and corndogs in the mean time. Something to look forward to. :)

So hows everyone doing?
I have slowed down some, ( weekend over load on peanut butter :lmao: ) but I am still hannging in there. I hope your all doing well. come on and post !

I'm still maintaining my 2 sizes down goal; even though the heat has driven me back to two soda's a week :sad2: but I've joined our local gym to try and keep the weight off :cool1:

Well, this week I was only down .2, but I will take it! I am down 48.6 now! So close to my goal of 50 by Disneyland, which is June 25th!!!

I hit my first goal of 25 lbs off, now I am working toward the second 25.....My step-MIL and I are going to Curves three times a week, and once summer gets here (we are both educational assistants so we have summers off) we might up that to 4 or more.....
I am hoping that getting out and playing with my kids everyday in the nice weather will help my stamina too, as well as work toward getting my whole family healthier....
The big drawback to going to DL in March is that we will just be coming off of winter, with it's fattening foods and lack of exercise. I hope I can maintain my momentum through all of that! :yay:

Hey everyone,

We are not going until December but I have been working on losing weight, not just for the trip but for me as well. I have been doing a healthy version of low carb and have lost 30 + pounds in about 3-4 months.

If any of you need help and want to know what I eat and what I do I will be more than happy to share. Good luck to you all.

Aloha Zena

Wonderful work!!! its awsome to see you going out and excercizing. 25 pounds is wonderful!!
I need to get motivated to excercize more. I hope to also go nuts this summer with the kids. last year we put up our giant pool and I did lots of excercize in it. I hope to again this year. its still snowing and being cold out. but we are warming up this week!!
Keep it up ladies! you are all doing wonderful.
Oh and I am down another pound today !!

Hi everyone! Well we've been back since last Friday but it's taken me a while to get back into the routine of it all. I basically didn't get back to dieting proper until Monday, although I "partially" dieted on Saturday and Sunday. It was hard because we still didn't have groceries and Mother's Day was Sunday so a brunch etc.

But, here is the news. I walked MILES AND MILES on our trip. On Sunday, our longest day, we walked 30,000 steps by our break at 4 p.m. (That's about 15 miles.) I forgot to put my pedometer on again from 6-11 p.m. but I would guess we walked at least another 6-8. So probably over 20 miles! And that was just one day!! I figure I averaged about 12 miles a day since the other days were shorter operating hours, but we'd walk into DTD for dinner and then all the way back to the Hojo afterward, took one break a day back at the hotel, etc.

Now for the food part. It was easier at the beginning and then by the end of the trip it was like "oh whatever"...it is hard to stick to a plan with all the temptations around. But even as I ate something less-than-ideal I did have my diet in mind at least...as to not go totally overboard. I did eat one cheeseburger, some fries, cheese pizza, and a couple chicken strips (shared a basket twice, once with my son and once with my husband), and one ice cream sunday at Brrrbank. But, I ate an appetizer for dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and an appetizer for lunch at the Blue Bayou. Not the healthiest items but at least the portion was controlled. I also ate a salad at Mimi's for dinner one night. The rest of the time I just had fun. Fajitas at Totilla Jo's with a couple strawberry margaritas, spaghetti and meatballs and red wine at Naple's. But I didn't eat all my food either, for instance the plate of fajitas are way too big but you can eat what you want and leave the rest...my husband helped me with those too.

I weighed in yesterday and only gained .4, which in my mind is negligible. I basically maintained...with all that walking, the food was incidental and I managed to have fun and not worry. Back on the plan, I hope to be losing again next week.

Congrats to everyone for their hard work. I have so few pounds to lose total, I am more impressed with those of you with big goals. There are many overweight people at Disneyland, and whatever you can do to minimize your size before you get there, you will have more fun!! It will be easier to walk, and get in and out of rides.

I am going to have a hard time without the trip as my "goal"...I need to find another event to lose for!

your doing awsome!! I have the dining plan at WDW so I know I will not make the best choices, but I plan to get right back on once we come home. I worked to hard to chuck it all away. I am proud of you!!
oh and you know a goal cvan be a new set of summer outfits, a new bikini ( or other bathing suit :) or something exciting you need to be slimmer for.
I have to walk a long way in WDW I have to have 100 pounds off by then!!!

Wow, you all are inspiring me to get back in the spirit of losing. Back in December/January, I lost about 24 pounds. Have since put back about 4-5, and lost my motivation somewhere in there!!!

Gotta get back in the groove, I have to force myself. I just always get discouraged at finding things to eat that are healthy. I need a strict one week plan that the kids can also eat. I have three and after work/school/activities, it's really hard to want to cook something complex. Unfortunately, everything that's easy is not all that great for you!!

Any recipes or ideas, I really need some new ones. PM me if you want. We just booked a cruise/WDW vacation for November 2009 and I really want to be able to wear some cute new clothes on that. I go to DL usually once every three months so that's not really a huge motivator for me now.

An idealistic goal for me is about 40 more pounds. I would love for it to be 60 but I think 40 is realistically attainable.

Thanks!
Andrea

Noryglory, great job on your trip. I have always wanted to keep track of how much I walk there, just haven't done it yet!!! Next time!

Andrea

WOW you guys are all so motivating! Noryglory, quick Q, was your walking a usual type of walking around the park, getting from ride to ride, to shows, etc... or did you walk more than usual? (ie. instead of taking the train, opting to walk)? just curious so I can get an idea of how much I could have possibly walked... Man, I need to get one of those meters to count my steps too!

Good mornign everyone!!
Hows it going? I lost a few more pounds, I think the key is to eat fish once in a while . I hate fish though, man I hate that stuff. but every time I have fish and a veggie for dinner I loose the next morning.
I am also loving the BBq veggie burgers, and the vegan taco's. I have found eating these 2 items give me the greatest pleasure!
I am off to work, hope you all have a wonderful day. I am stopping off at Walmart to get a pedometer for my trip, I want to see how much I walk in WDW.

Whoops, I thought a Disney diet was eating something in the shape of a Mickey each day. I'm thinking that's now what this thread was about... :mickeybar

Good job to everyone with the willpower to resist the mickey ice cream bar!

Oh, there's no resisting the mickey ice cream bar by any means!
Just making room for it in advance by losing weight before the trip... Resist the urge so I can splurge...at Disneyland! ohhhh yeahhhhhh....

I messed up yesterday, ate a pasty and lots of nuts. way to many nuts . then moire pasty at midnight :sad2: I am bloated today and very uncomfortable. I can not believe I felt like this before I dieted and did not think anything of it  I am back on today, will do a nice orange roughy for dinner , and very easy on the gut foods!
Oye I am acually crappy feeling today. I see now going off one day is not worth it!

Everyone is doing so great! Hey, a slip up every once in a while is actually a mental necessity. If you don't give in to your cravings now and again, eventually you will rebel BIG time and do a lot more damage in the long run. I try to allow myself a treat or two every week, I just make up for it by having a salad for lunch and drinking a lot of water....
I am down 29 lbs now, I never thought I would get this far. Usually I get to about 20lbs at the most and I loose steam. This year I am more determined than ever!! By next March I will be running ahead of my kids at the parks, calling them slow pokes LOL!!

As far as "cheating", what I like to call "treating", what has worked well for me and DH is cheat meals & snacks rather than a full day of cheating, because we really did end up feeling crappy at the end of the day and it starts to feel more difficult to pick yourself up for the next day... For example, we will dine out one day to treat ourselves and then go out for a desert & coffee... One meal one dessert... On another "treat session" we would go to the movies, get our usual popcorn, bag of candy and drink... but that was to the extent of our "treating" because if we did it for a full day, we would not only feel guilty, but physically we'd feel it (fatigued, etc), you know- crappy!

However, treating is very necessary at some time because you will find that it will actually bump your metabolism up. (and keep you from falling off your dieting). Ever notice that people will lose a whole lot, then suddenly plateau? THen cheat one day and wonder why they still lost weight? Because it could actually jump start the metabolism again... BUt with limitaiton of course.

Keep it up!:cheer2: :yay:  :thumbsup2:cheer2:

I have kids too and what we eat is what they eat... so they seemed to like grilled chicken breast (just with season salt- real simple) and steamed broccoli with a little butter & salt, brown rice (which they grew to like)... that would be a typical meal and there is variation... instead of the chicken, a baked salmon or halibut with simple seasoning (since the kids don't like fancy herbed style).... and have grain pasta on the side instead of rice with maybe steamed veggies again (add cheese for the kiddos).
these type of meals are fairly easy if you prep the rice ahead of time and keep the chicken or fish ready in the fridge and preseasoned... I just grill on a skillet and we only use olive oil. The key is "keep it simple".. Just a few ideas...:goodvibes
