"The Disneyland Diet"

Im doing good, not lost in a few days but that happens. I have not cheated but man I crave BBQ chips :lmao: I hope to have 2 more pounds off by Sunday.

I too am a bbq chip gal. I do find the soy chip treats bbq flavor take my edge off, and they have tons of protein too.

I love them !! hard to find around here so I have to drive 90 miles to find them:rolleyes: it sucks to live in a small town some times. good thing I go out of town about 4 times a year or I would starve from lack of good snacks :lmao:

I got the boys some BBQ chips last night, they have been with out goodies for days , so I trteated them, they were like pack animals :lmao: :lmao:

So I've started taking a hard look at how I eat and I'm trying to change. I'm so tired of being Pooh sized. I think this thread is great and I've been reading all your comments. My biggest hurdle is excersize. I would LOVE to go to Curves. But I'm a single mom and I don't have anyone willing to watch DD so frequently so I can go. I've bought some videos but they are so boring!

Well, I'm starting to think I need Richard Simmons. He has such high energy!! And it doesn't come across as completely fake and stupid. Soooo I guess my question is where can I get a Richard Simmons video?

Hi Jenn, welcome to our little discussion.

A few years ago I joined one of those "DVD rental by mail" deals through Blockbuster. They (Netflix etc) all have different rates now (one out at a time, up to four out at a time I think) and you can actually use the service to rent different exercise videos! You can keep them as long as you want, then get a new one when you get bored, all for one fee a month. It's cheaper than a gym!

I also think this is the way to go if you can't get to a facility. Good luck!!! We can all always find excuses to exercising...it can be as easy as situps and leg lifts and going up and down your stairs for cardio...you just have to be creative. If you want it, you can do it, even if it's just your own body you have to use as resistance!!

And by the way, do I sure wish that typing posts on the DIS Boards was an "exercise" :rotfl2:

I hope you can find one! RS is a great guy. My mom met him once, when she and I belonged to his gym. Yes, he used to have a chain of gyms, though I'm forgetting the name right now. We belonged (I was a teen) and although sometimes the fellow members forgot that everyone was to be welcomed, the staff were wonderful to everyone, from skinny minnies to people who were the weight that RS was before he became fit. My mom adored him when she met him. :)

Omg, he is doing a cruise next week! What fun that would have been.

Well I've been doing my pilates pretty much on schedule, but yesterday I tried to do it, got 5 minutes into it, and nearly threw up. Very weird. Then I got a blinding headache! Ooh what fun!

So I'm laying low for another day, I think.

And we're continuing with trying to eat well, with whole food made at home. So that's good!

Oh I remembered the name of Richard Simmons gyms. They were called The Anatomy Asylum. :)

Man oh man did I love doing aerobics there!

well how is everyone doing? I did loose a few more, been working hard since I have so much to loose. I hope your all dong well!! its still super cold and snowy here so no out door activities yet, mostly indoor stuff. I wish I could go out but its to cold!! ( it was 1 degree's saturday :scared1: today it was 6 !!

This is a great thread, and just what I need! I'm determined to get fit before my next DLR visit, which will probably be a quickie in December. I just got home from a family DLR trip and spent two of the three days dealing with leg soreness and foot pain, ouch. I'm not doing that to myself again, even though I still had a wonderful time at the parks.

What's funny is I managed to lose five pounds while we were there, even with less walking the last day. I've been calling that the Disneyland Diet.

Jenn1116, any luck finding the videos you want? Try garage sales and places like Salvation Army, people are constantly getting rid of the videos they don't use. Also, sign up for your local Freecycle. I belong to the one for Las Vegas and people get rid of workout videos every few weeks.

Exercise TV posts some workout clips at their website. And try YouTube. I'm amazed at the things people will post there. Combine some of those short toning workout with a good walk or some run & play time with the kidlet and you could have a good workout.

Hello Ladies!

I'd love to join in (if you don't mind!)...you guys are all doing so AWESOME! :thumbsup2 :worship:

honestly, I would love to lose 10 pounds, but I'm learning, my body doesn't like to lose the weight, it hangs on to it....however, it is turned into muscle...so my clothes do fit different. I guess I should say I'd like to lose pant sizes (I can't remember who said that above, but I'm stealing it!!:lmao: )

I was walking on my treadmill ALOT...started running, but my knees starting hurting, so I totally stopped and now I need to get my motivation back.

I'd like to start one week of 30 mins daily on the treadmill and then get up to 45 mins for another week...see how my knees handle it and then start slowly (I do mean SLOOOOWWWW) running again.

I'd also like to start my pilates again. I have done that in the past and it works!!

ok...I typed it down...it's official...gotta do it now!

My oldest dd has an ortho appt this afternoon, as soon as we get home...I'm on the treadmill...I PROMISE!

Hi stacy !! welcome !!
I wish I could do all the stuff you all do. my back is real bad so doing a lot is to intense. I did do richard simons, man that about killed me

I am continuing to loose around 2 to 3 pounds a week. will be walking as soon as the tons of snow is gone again!! so far treadmill looks like it will be my main machine for excercize. I have to dust it off still :lmao: :lmao:

Thank you so much noryglory, Bumbershoot, and gramto2boys! I've made major improvements in the food department. Mostly just making healthier choices. I haven't picked up breakfast at Burger King since early last week, which has been a really bad habit of mine. I really appreciate all of your encouragement. :)

Totallycait, thanks for the great suggestions. I've had lots of problems with Comcaast and ended up changing my cable package so I don't get Fitness on demand anymore, which would have been easy to use. I think I'll head over to ebay, just because that's really easy to do, even while I'm at work (shhhh) and see if I can find RS cheap like gramto2boys said.

Also wanted to say congrats to all of you who are making changes to live healthier!

Wow, where do you live? It is in the 80s here today!

I haven't weighed this week, but I'm feeling good. I took my class on a field trip today, and got lunch at Steak Escape, but I only ate half my sandwich and a few fries. As we were getting on the bus, all the teens got ice cream, but I walked away!

I am sitting here munching on cole slaw I just made. oh the days when I had a burger and fries  I do not miss them, I am acually happy to go back on my vegan diet. it works well for me.
Just not sure what to have for dinner. beans and rice taco or vegan sloppy joes...... hummmmm taco's sound much better!!
I live in Montana, where its cold and colder and sooooooo cold!! we are getting more snow this week, makes me want to barf!!

Hi ladies, and a special hello those of you new to the thread!!

I weighed in today and lost another 1.4 pounds...not as much as I would like but better than the other direction! So, I am about 2 and a half pounds from my goal of 10 by Disneyland...I have another week and a half so I SHOULD get right around that number if not pass it...and then hopefully make wise choices there and walk a ton and maybe, just maybe, not gain any weight back on the trip!!

Keep up the good work everyone!

So I finally weighed myself because I guess I need to in order to keep track. I'm much less than I thought I was but still up 40 lbs from 2 years ago, which was the last time I dieted. I was doing Atkins then and I was still very over-weight. I lost about 30 lbs on that diet but didn't keep up with it, and it's not a very healthy diet to be on anyway, IMHO. So we'll see how this one goes. My aim is to make permanent changes in my choices so I can be healthier rather than just get the weight off.

Noryglory, I'm really excited for you that you're going to reach your goal!!

Just got back from Weight Watchers...down 3.2 for the week. I'm aiming for about 15 more before our trip in 7 1/2 weeks.

Wish I were feeling better though. I always want my old comfort (fast food mostly) foods when I've got a cold or sore throat and I've got both right now.
