Hi everyone! Well we've been back since last Friday but it's taken me a while to get back into the routine of it all. I basically didn't get back to dieting proper until Monday, although I "partially" dieted on Saturday and Sunday. It was hard because we still didn't have groceries and Mother's Day was Sunday so a brunch etc.
But, here is the news. I walked MILES AND MILES on our trip. On Sunday, our longest day, we walked 30,000 steps by our break at 4 p.m. (That's about 15 miles.) I forgot to put my pedometer on again from 6-11 p.m. but I would guess we walked at least another 6-8. So probably over 20 miles! And that was just one day!! I figure I averaged about 12 miles a day since the other days were shorter operating hours, but we'd walk into DTD for dinner and then all the way back to the Hojo afterward, took one break a day back at the hotel, etc.
Now for the food part. It was easier at the beginning and then by the end of the trip it was like "oh whatever"...it is hard to stick to a plan with all the temptations around. But even as I ate something less-than-ideal I did have my diet in mind at least...as to not go totally overboard. I did eat one cheeseburger, some fries, cheese pizza, and a couple chicken strips (shared a basket twice, once with my son and once with my husband), and one ice cream sunday at Brrrbank. But, I ate an appetizer for dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and an appetizer for lunch at the Blue Bayou. Not the healthiest items but at least the portion was controlled. I also ate a salad at Mimi's for dinner one night. The rest of the time I just had fun. Fajitas at Totilla Jo's with a couple strawberry margaritas, spaghetti and meatballs and red wine at Naple's. But I didn't eat all my food either, for instance the plate of fajitas are way too big but you can eat what you want and leave the rest...my husband helped me with those too.
I weighed in yesterday and only gained .4, which in my mind is negligible. I basically maintained...with all that walking, the food was incidental and I managed to have fun and not worry. Back on the plan, I hope to be losing again next week.
Congrats to everyone for their hard work. I have so few pounds to lose total, I am more impressed with those of you with big goals. There are many overweight people at Disneyland, and whatever you can do to minimize your size before you get there, you will have more fun!! It will be easier to walk, and get in and out of rides.
I am going to have a hard time without the trip as my "goal"...I need to find another event to lose for!
