The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Last night the women's basketball team won, So both Michigan teams are in to the Sweet 16.

Yesterday the morning temp was 25 here, this morning it is 52. Welcome to Spring in PA.

@PaHunter ride that roller coaster of spring, we are only a few degrees off your temps. "Krunk: Pull the lever!"

Miss Bug has been dealing with a pain issue that popped up in early February. She went out on the ice and snow and came back tender in her right front. Xrays were inconclusive, so it was meds and rest, however once off the meds she was having pain issues a few days later. After several cycles of this, we were referred to a Neuro specialist in the area. She seems to be doing well back on the cocktail of meds prescribed but we do not know what is causing it all. So she is now going for an MRI and possible spinal tap in order to get some answers.

I used to be ok when a normally healthy pup would go in for a procedure that required anesthesia. However, since we lost Willow in her surgery I find my anxiety is pretty amped up every time one of our pups need it now. I had it with Ellie for her spay and dealing with it now with Bug. I am hoping we get some answers to her pain and find the best way to treat it. It really sucks to see her in pain and keeping her locked in a crate all day is sad too. But they want her very restricted till we have some answers.

Well its a known issue with minpins and they suspect a bulged disk or multiple. Which somehow went from acute to chronic possibly due to a slip on the ice. I am anxiously waiting to hear what they find and then next steps. I hate having to leave her there, she is family for all of us.

So busy afternoon and evening. Bug had her MRI and no issues with anesthesia thankfully. They found multiple bulging disks in her C-spine and it's going to be treated medically with no plans for surgical at this time. So the next challenge is keeping her calm and quiet for 2-3 weeks. Right now she is to be mostly confined in a crate and well that just means she whines non stop. We are looking into a small dog pen that I can setup in the basement she can chill in while I work.

long term will just be keeping an eye on her and not letting her jump off high things, getting her to use a petramp wont be too hard. She already prefers a stool to get onto the couch.

On the heels of finding out what was ailing bug, a planned expense to expand the driveway and build. a better base for the RV to make it up and down the driveway is now complete. I put this ball in motion a few weeks ago and even with bugs needs we chose to go forward.

I had 20 Tons of gravel delivered at the start of the week and a friend come by to do some landscape work for me. he cut the sod back and tamped it all down. There is a lot of extra gravel on the back area so I know if I need it I can use some to fill in any gaps that open up elsewhere. This will take the driveway from 10' wide to 14' wide and make it easier to back up that windy little sucker all 200'.

The extended parking pad for the truck, trailer, and back half of the RV. EDIT: That extension is 12' back with an additional 4' where the RV usually overhangs to keep the mud off the back of it.

its not perfect, but it will do for our needs.

Nice. I have some projects similar to that on the horizon. Wider driveway, new shop that I can park the rig in. We're in our forever house and time to start making it match our lifestyle

I wish our lot was better set for a shop with room for the 42' RV. I think that is just something I must accept I won't have unless can build it between my neighbors and us near the front of the property or buy another LOT nearby to put just the shop on....which is also OK with me.

I will have to replace my driveway at some point, maybe next year. The weight of the MH is putting some deep indents from the tires in the pavement.

The plan this year is to move a shed at the end of the driveway and pour a 20x40 concrete pad for the MH to park on ( 20 ft. wide so I can open the awning and sit out under it when not camping ). 8554FE75-8DCE-44C9-BE66-6D54F45253EE.jpeg

Hey Vince, in your area, I know a guy that is pretty good at that...

So checked my water system today, so far so good. We are not leaking anywhere. 🚣‍♂️For all the Class A people out there, how do you keep your outside door open when it is windy ? Ours just slams shut with a gust of wind. I mean sometimes you might want to leave the outside door open and just use the screen door. 🌞
And ticks are out, yuck.🤬

When you open the door, does it feel like there is a slight catch or does it just swing freely?

No ours just seems to swing freely, and the one day it was warm and I would have liked it open. I mean I can run a bungee from the inside handle out and around the mirror, but seems like it should stay open.

I've never had a problem with it blowing closed, but have had the wind push it from open to hyper-open. It was a factory defect. The stop was made of plastic and would break allowing the door to swing free. Someone in my neighborhood got tired of them breaking and machined a billet replacement. Now he makes them and sells them.
My point is Chris, pop the panel off the inside of the door and see if the stop is damaged or broken. In addition, if you haven't already (my guess is you already have) join a Winnebago Tour group and ask. It might be a known problem.

As you stated the interior components are crap. Seems this is an ongoing issue, normally overextension. Some have suggested a gas strut, but some do not believe there is enough meat in door to support this. So looks like this is something I will have to delve in to further, and may have to work with my local shop to come up with a cure.
And of course I am in all the different forums, and they have been very helpful so far with some of the differences between coaches and trailers.

Chris, ours latches some how. Because once fully opened I hear a click and then the door stays open. To close it you really have to give it a pull.
