The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

just received our frozen pizza delivery for WDW trip, we love Cuban sandwiches and on triple D they showed this place (https://www.goldbelly.com/red-wagon-pizza/carl-the-cuban-pizza-4-pack) we order about 3 times a year, the Cuban Pizza is great, the crust is amazing, Taking 3 on our trip, leaving on 10-28!!
Intresting. Never had anything like that over here. I make my own pizza on the blackstone. But , tbh its traditional. Enjoy it. Anything that freezes is good for the trip down.

they deliver with dry ice, we usually make our own also, but not on vacation.

ha ha ha ha ha, sorry nothing makes me smile more than the cardinals and brewers losing. Sox fan this fall as my triple A team is out! Brewers have a legit shot though, good team this year,

Yeah - not a great showing in game 2, but here's hoping!

That's okay, you can watch some Alabama football too. :thumbsup2

Not a great weekend for Alabama fans either. Ouch! Thought of some of you as I caught the tail end of the game.

I missed it, was at DDs band competition so I could only check scores and go by Ed's update text. Sounds like Bama got out of gate stumbling, but really sounds like A&M was ready to play. Either way, a loss is a loss. Can't win them all. Now we get to see how angry they get.

I know Arnold & the other Aggie Angels had the heavens rocking Sat. night. I was @ or National Methodist Camping relay @ GlenRose, Texas the 6th thru the 10th. We had a Longhorn & Aggies giving each other a bad time. So glad OK beat Texas.

Saw an interesting article on another Disney news site today. Disney is supposedly not allowing single night resort stays from October 14-December 5. We have many times done weekend trips and stayed part of the way down to Orlando at a hotel somewhere then 1 night in a Disney resort Saturday night. Someone has supposedly verified this with the phone reservation CM’s as well. Existing reservations aren’t impacted, just no new ones.

@bama_ed, I’m wondering if they are trying to prevent folks from “piecing together” a reservation one night at a time?

Interesting. A quick test with a few dates seems to suggest this is true. One nighters are not available - shift it to two nights over the same date and options are plentiful.

Not sure on the reason. The piecemealing of stays tends to be more active at the Fort and DVC resorts than the rest of the WDW resorts, so it seems like an odd policy for that. Perhaps with Genie coming online they want to limit the 'doubling up' on early access (both to parks and to paid LL selections) that comes with single night stays. Not sure, but that would be my best guess.

That's interesting and odd, Arc. So basically from now till early December?

I could understand if it was to prevent a stay on Friday or Saturday nights but why block a Tuesday night? :confused3

The only thing I can think of is that at guest departure, Mousekeeping has to do a full cleaning of the room. I'm not a hotel guest at Disney but I think Mousekeeping is limited/optional DURING a hotel stay so not as many rooms need the full cleaning on any given night.

Example: 100 room hotel, filled to capacity each night with guests doing 1-night stays. Requires 100 full room cleanings per day. Same hotel but guests doing 3-night stays requires only 33 full room cleanings per day.

So I guess it's not to overload the Mousekeeping resources available.

Bama Ed

PS - Disney has the data on the number of 1-night stays so it must be significant enough to trigger this change and keep Mousekeeping quality/volume where they want it.

I'm over minimum stays, especially in public campgrounds at State Parks and such. I can stomach a private company doing it to book the weekend and maximize $$$. It's their property and their livelihood, but it doesn't mean I like it.

What doesn't make sense is when a completely public CG (not a concessionaire job like in big Natl Parks) do it. If the state is really needing SPs to be fully booked every weekend to make their budget each year, I think they're doing something wrong. Many of the SPs in my area, in KS and MO require FRI-SUN bookings and it has prevented several trips of mine to not occur for one reason or the other.

Rant over. Soapbox stowed. Stay off my lawn.

Great thoughts Ed, I figured you would have some ideas on the reasons. That definitely makes sense. Especially with the CM shortage.

Yeah, you were on point EARLY this morning (that's when I read you) and I chipped in my two cents.

A couple hours later today, the issue came up on the DIS Resorts Boards and they must have been "peekin' at our posts".

I hate minimum stays. That said they usually don't interrupt my plans or I just plan around them if they do. Usually the one with a minimum stay it he place that loses my money rather then gain additional nights from me.

I end up with a bit of both. Our state parks don't have minimum stays, but their nights are relatively inexpensive and it's not unusual for me to book a night longer than our stay so that I can stay into the evening. With me being committed on Sunday mornings, local camping with DS12 is often just Friday night, but I book through Sunday so that we can stay through dinner and have most all of Saturday to enjoy.

When traveling, their have been 1-2 times that I've needed a Friday stay at a location with a weekend minimum and no other realistic options, but I really think it has been only the 1-2 times - otherwise I avoid them. Our most nearby Jellystone has a 'no Saturday check-out' policy, regardless of length of stay. Again, due to my schedule, that really ended up eliminating our usage of that park. We haven't been there in a good 3-4 years now.

Sometimes if you call them directly they will make an exception, especially if there not booked allready. Depends on the campground. I had to do that for halloween coming up, no one had an overnight stay on my way to disney this year. I called the koa and they let me do a 1 night stay.

I did that this summer. On the way to Gulf Shores, we picked up a friend south of Nashville. There was 1 campsite right at the exit where we were picking her up. They had a 2 night minimum. I called and they did the one night. On the way to NC 3 weeks ago, we stayed at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington for one night. They also had a 2 night minimum. I called and they would not do it so I just paid for the 2 nights and took the loss. It was the only decent place close to the highway that was near the right stopping point. We left after work and wanted to get a certain distance before stopping for the night. Only reason I did it.

OK - So I gotta ask. How do you make pizza on the Blackstone? This sounds intriguing.

You cheat and start with flatbread. Olive oil both sides, heat one a bit , then flip it, add tomato sause , and oragino, salt , pepper, garlic, and Parmigiano, then some mozzarella. Cook a bit more then cover with a blast sheild to melt the cheese. This is more of a Sicilian pizza. You could always bake the crust yourself ahead of time. But when camping that dosen't travel great. Also making your own dough is probably not a good idea. You can freeze it , or buy it frozen. But for camping this is easier, and tasty. Don't forget to add a bit of oilive oil to the sauce. And cut the cheese thin. And dont use the pre grated stuff, it dosen't melt well. Best tomatoes for kids is just tomato sauce ( get the best brand) adults get a itallian plumb tomato, again better brand.
