The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

So up early this morning, had a Dr. visit to discuss bloodwork. I was then off to the trailer dealer to get a new tire to replace the one with 2 screws in it. Have to change the tire out later, but not today. Time to finish packing up and on the road again for another camping weekend. Sunday we then drop off the motorhome for service, and get ready for Dismeet......

@PaHunter My Dr. made me go see the vampire too. He has advised me I am fat and need to eat more salad....sigh.

We are 22 days from the beach! 50 days from Disney!!! Everyone is getting excited and we are busy training puppies while trying to get bug on a good road to recovery. This weekend we have Melissa's parents visiting and mostly just planned work around the house and preparing for our trips!!! Besides giving the RV and good bath after a few trips I am reorganizing a few things and moving their locations. I have approval from Grand Design to use a local RV tech to do my recall, I just need to call him and set up the work rather than towing all the way to Richmond for a 30 minute recall at our dealer (who also wanted me to spend a day there to confirm it needed the recall which GD was able to determine in 5 photos in email.)

@Teamubr you can flat tow the Explorer? For some reason i thought you couldn't but hey flat towing seems easier to me.

My storage place is finally doing the work on the rig. Don't get me started but the AC did not arrive till Monday. I had called them about needing these fixes in Jan. Nothing like the last minute. They did have to move the RV and it started which is good. I was worried because we don't normally have it sit that long but my original plan was to take the RV local camping in April but they did not have the AC or Slide Seal fixed so that did not happen.

We were originally told no, but found out that only applies to the 4 cylinder. I'm glad we bought the flat trailer anyway. It was much cheaper than the things needed to flat tow the Explorer and I can use it like the truck bed to carry hardware stuff home. I can also put the RS on it. It definitely can not be flat towed.

Glad things are starting to get fixed. I have been reading that RV A/C units have been significantly delayed due to Covid supply chain impacts. A few people on the forums have been told their A/C units may not be here until November. Just in time for snow.

Mom had to cut my hair during covid. Lol. Shes 84, it was a bit uneven, but it was better then me doing it myself. I feel your pain.
Looks like she is doing a great job.

went on a training hike today, 10 miles and 3200 feet of gain. It was good. I am not sure I can do 16 miles in two weeks but we are going for it. views were nice.

if you ask bert that is not quite how the meeting went. First it was screaming and jumping back and practically plowing over bert.

home and plowing through leftovers. On a not good note, Mallory’s good side is no longer we have a sore on her good hip 😢. Hoping we can do something for it but ugh that will make things hard. Plus she might have won the stubborn contest bert is making rice because she won’t eat dog food.

we were exhausted from the hike but at 8:30 had to deal with Mallory’s new wound. There was a lot of narcretic tissue that bert had to remove. i know our usual vet is nit working today but we kind of know what we are doing so I will call and get the first appointment I can with her. Mallory seems to be ok otherwise. Though she did win and is getting rice for dinner.

Thing about rattlesnakes (best I can tell) is to be so potentially harmful if provoked, they certainly are pretty. Color pattern is so cool.

@garneska Glad to hear repairs are on the way. I know some places are just backordered on parts and pieces. I called my local guy on the RV recall and spoke about a possible bad door switch. He said he would order it now as just the switch is on a 3 week backorder!! Even if he doesn't need it for us, its a common part he stated.

@Teamubr As you said the flat trailer is a help either way. Having the ability to slowly built up the parts and pieces to flat tow is kind of priceless in its own way.

We seem to have bug in maintenance state, I really just want some answers as the meds and the work is exhausting. This cannot go long term, but going to the emergency vet tied to our neurologist if she is maintaining will likely turn into a 500 dollar expense to stay the course and see the neurologist as soon as possible. It is heartbreaking when she is in pain and we have another week and a half to go.

I did not get much done on the RV this weekend. I had all the intentions, but the weekend just flew by with guests. We had a trainer out here to help us with Ellie. She just always is harassing the cats, barking at neighbors. We brought in a specialist trainer and while expensive she taught us better ways to correct her. It is amazing to see her transform and start to listen. We know its consistency and that will help. Plus between vaccines and some safety in that we are finding more and more availability for obedience classes. So I am trying to get us started on one that can work around our schedule for travel.

Hey all, just a quick question as im on the fence here. I have a 2014 jeep wrangler 4 door, low miles, that i dont use much. I am thinking of selling it to carvana. Apparently they highly value these jeeps and got quoted almost as much for it as when i bought it used in 2016. Sell? Or hold and rarely drive it? I dont need the money, but it can be used for kids collage in 10 years. Or go to a new camper in 10 years, or just sit in the bank. I figure the bank is better then sitting in the driveway doing nothing.

You are much better off selling it and saving the costs of maintenance, registration and insurance. Then put the money where it can grow. Sadly CDs are earning less than 1% as interest rates have been rock bottom again since May 2020. Though maybe put it in a good ETF with solid long term growth could do well. Just go with your comfort level on that.

Bank, but that's me. Sitting doesn't do you much good and you still have to keep it up. By the time the kids need wheels you'll be ready with something else.
