The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Yeah , getting old isnt fun. Im not old, but things hurt that have never hurt me in the past. Glad your both ok and healing.

Just back from the vet. Wanted her to check out the new wound, it’s infected. she did a sugar bandage, but after an hour seems like we have syrup. I am just not happy with the situation at all.

Sugar bandage did not hold so well. Took over an hour to clean it up. Very messy not sure if it did anything but think that experiment is over. On the flip side will make tomorrow easier.

Sorry it didn't work well. I heard sugar bandages where great for slow to heal wounds and avoid further complications, but have to be changed often at first.

Hopefully you can get the infection under control and enjoy your trip north?

I have not updated about the wound. It is getting better. I do think the sugar might have helped of course so do antibiotics. Still waiting on the culture but the vet wanted to get some medication going immediately. I think Mallory is feeling better.

So this weekend was supposed to be the time I spent preparing the RV mechanically for the next few trips. Well Saturday was rained out, Sunday I spent more time than I expected with my mother. It was a needed visit and with so much going on closer to home it has not been easy. Monday was spent at my friends shop working on his computer issues, which also took longer than I wanted. Once I got home I did get some work done inside the RV getting things inside to wash. I need to vacuum so we can install some step rugs which I hope helps bug on our next trip since it seems the wood steps are slippery for the pups (and once for me in socks.)

While the time at the shop pulled from RV stuff, I did use my time there well. After the 2016 trip to Disney I dubbed the year of the blow out, I now carry two spare tires since I had to buy one to make the trip home after a rim got badly damaged. The new RV uses G rated tires, my second spare was an E rated tire. A friend of mine just put new tires on his rig and has 2 year old G rated take offs. Since it is a spare and kept out of the weather, I decided to put one of his Sailuns on the spare rim and tada, no I now have what I call my spare, spare.

Last the Bug update. Just like the weekend she hurt her neck, she magically stopped showing pain this past weekend. It could have been the meds, or she had a slipped disk that moved back into place. But we went from her being in pain as each round of meds wore off, to now as of today we are only giving her meds twice a day, down from 3 times a day and she is still doing well. Thursday she goes to see the neurologist and explain this magical transformation and find out what to do long term.

So though the next two work weeks and this weekend I will have to finish my peace of mind preparing and giving the rig a much needed roof down bath before we shove off early Saturday morning for our much anticipated beach trip!!!!

Gloria saw your message but came here to post, i am worried about my knee. I think it maybe infected. Calling all those medical types at PF in a few days. It itches and is red around the area and still hurts a bit. I occasionally leave it open but eventually i end up putting antibiotic ointment on it and a bandage and wrap it up. Of course it is right on the top of the knee so every slight bend affects it.

You could have poured tumeric powder on it when you got home, or poured honey over it and bandaged it up. Either one would have worked.

Vet suggested honey for my knee after she said sugar bandage for Mallory. My scrum master at work said Tumeric. Have not tried either yet but am close.

Anything that can keep a mild acidic environment helps.

This if from NIH: "Honey has anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It can be used as a wound dressing to promote rapid and improved healing. These effects are due to honey's anti-bacterial action, secondary to its high acidity, osmotic effect, anti-oxidant content and hydrogen peroxide content."

Sugar is very similar and it will draw out ooz as it clears an infection, it is really amazing how well it works in some of these cases.

Last night I made some pet friendly mods to the RV. Last trip we noticed the steps in the RV where. a big slick fo the dogs and even myself. So this last night after vacuuming and mopping the floor, I added some easy to remove step carpeting. This was in addition to a nice 5'x5' square area rug for the living room. No need to roll it up either, the slides hover over it.

Tomorrow Miss Bug goes for her follow up, so far we are backing off her meds and she seems to be fine. Now we just need to avoid another round of this and hoping to get some answers tomorrow.

Last part is the funny positions dogs will sleep in. I had posted about my sit stand desk, well I looked down while standing a big ago and this is what I saw the pup sleeping with her body on the chair legs and though....how can that be confortable.

All you Pigeon Forge folks enjoy the gathering!!!

I am in FL via the old airplane again... we were flying into Kissimmee today, but had to delay for a few rectangles in the sky while some storms rolled over the airport... as you can see in following picture, we made close pass to Disney (bottom right) as well as Lake Louisa SP. Red plane on the circle is us. The green line is our ground track. Came in from the right side of screen from the Atlantic coast. We were arriving during Cape Canaveral launch window, but to many storms/clouds to see... not even sure if they launched. We were at 2800 feet above the ground or so, so it was a good look at MK....

@4077 Falcon FX7, is that the limo class of jets? Cool shots while being forced into holding patterns.

Today is more home and RV work. The storms that hit Charles Town and what @PaHunter had to deal with seemed to pass me. Just some thunder an a sprinkle of rain. I decided to try out the RV Airflow insert that I saw reviewed on the Changing Lanes VLOG. I only bought 1 for the bedroom area, I figure it if helped increase airflow in the track and made it a little quieter I would be happy with it. If we really like it I will add it to the front AC which disables the dump in the area which I do not mind having when the RV is hot or I been outside for long.

This weekend is lots of getting ready to head out, plus attending a graduation party. I also plan to season the blackstone grill, I figure if I season it a time or two now it will be ready for the beach.

Bug had her neurologic checkup yesterday, the Dr. wants to continue treating her medically and thinks that the episode started with a slip or missed jump that slipped a disk. After that it was just finding the right medications to get the swelling down and allow the disk to slide back some and let her feel better. Bug is doing well but we are still to confine her and we have a new medication plan for the next month. At least we have a better plan and I think the hardest is going to be keeping her calm when she feels like super dog.

4077,

I've been waiting outside Ragland Road to be notified that my table is ready and all those Gideon's Cookies people in their line were infringing onto our RR turf.

I know you're always the most hip, current, trendy poster here on the DIS but isn't it a virtual queue (what I've read)? Can't you sign up and then walk all over Disney Springs before they notify you that your time slot has come open?

Leave us low tech, flip phone, Irish wannabee's to fill the square outside Raglan Road. By the looks of your picture, it looks like RR might be open in 10 hours. That will be enough time for me to decide what I want to eat from the outside menu easel outside (if they put it out that early).

Ed

PS - is a cookie really that good to be worth the wait? :confused3

I came to find out from my wife (who seems to be in the know about all things Disney) that the virtual cue only begins if the “regular” low tech line gets to be too long (not sure how long “too long” is). Oh, also, you actually have to check in with a person outside at the end of the line with an iPad to sign up for the virtual cue. Then, once your virtual cue time comes up, you return and get into the physical line (which was 30ish minutes and still just around the corner to Morimotothe time we did that in April).

Yesterday we arrived to Disney Springs at opening time and got into the normal line (that is the line is normal rather than virtual...I can’t speak for how normal all of us waiting for these cookies are). The line went from the entrance down around the corner to a point between Morimoto and Chef Art Smiths. It was a 45 minute wait from that point to cookie purchase (6 for me...4 chic chip and 2 specials that my wife wanted).

I am all about the sugar treats! While there that morning, I also bought 2 Joffrey’s donuts (a vanilla frosted with sprinkles and vanilla frosted with crushed ores), and 2 black and white cookies at Earl of Sandwich (where I also had a grilled cheese.. the best grilled cheese ever IMO).The Gideon’s cookies are incredible. I like the original chocolate chip the best. I LOVE cookies, so for me, worth the wait!

I was explaining to my colleague (the other pilot on trip who I convinced to come with me and who bought 4 cookies himself) that I have heard often how good RR is (mostly from some Bama guy on here). We regretted that we were not to be around in the evening to go ourselves..one day I will make it to RR!

RR is one of our favorites, at least once per trip

Always ask for a table in the main room when you check in, 4077. There is one room for seating diners off to the side with no view of the main stage and also some booths near the entrance with high dividers in-between that block the view (if you aren't seated with your back to the stage anyway).

Us too, team bradfield, it has ended up being nearly a once-per-trip the last couple times down there.
