I hope all of you Dads and your families had a great Christmas! I certainly did!

Christmas lasts for three or four days for us with all of the family members that we have to visit. We just finished up late last night at my parents house and we will spend a couple more days just visiting everyone again (and taking care of the leftovers :lmao:)

Anyone else taking next week off? It was nice to walk out of the office last Tuesday knowing that I wouldn't be back until Jan 5th.

A week in the office, one on the road, and then we're off to Disney! :woohoo:

Anyone have any cool plans for New Year's this year? I'll be staying home on the couch with my lovely bride while we watch the ball drop on the TV. Of course... that's making the assumption we'll stay awake until midnight :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Yeah, that's my story too -- CAN I stay up that late!! Actually, we're at my parents' and my DS17 and DS14 will make it till midnight no problem, but we're just hanging here with my folks.... watching whatever channel they pick on tv....:happytv:

My family celebrates the Icelandic New Year (7:00 p.m. EST). That way we can have a reasonable bedtime!

Bowling I think but I'm oncall until midnight so who knows.

I will be watching the Live feed from the Poly to catch the MK fireworks.

Last night someone streamed from the NoodleStation in the Park as well as the Poly it was neat to see from the 2 areas

I am very close to either having a Disney Cruise ticker or a Disney World trip ticker in my signature. :cool1: My wife is feeling the Disney blues from our trip in December '07 and wants to go in April. I've been smiling for two days now. Anyway, Happy New Year to all the DIS Dads!

Now THAT'S funny!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK... I have to relay this story to you guys. This will probably be a little long, but I'm in a sharing mood today. :goodvibes

Over the past few weeks, my brain has been totally preoccupied with Disney's current special promo - Buy 4 Get 3 Free. I have spent hours on Disney's web site just plugging in dates and resorts to see what kind of deals I can get. Just to give you an idea of my madness, there is an Excel spreadsheet being updated daily with different schemes and prices. It currently has over 40 entries! :cool2:

So here's where the story gets good. My wife calls me yesterday while I'm at work and happened to be in the middle of dissecting a "scheme" and I say "No way!" She's like, "What?" :confused3 And I reply, "Can you believe that we could stay at WDW at the Poly for 8 days (including tickets and dining and airfare for me, DW & DD) for about $3500??" :yay: and she gets quiet. :scared: Her next words were "You are NOT thinking about going any time soon, are you?". Hehe... yup. But I calmly reply that I am just looking into things. :rolleyes1

Story continues... I get home and had just finished giving the rounds of hugs and kisses to my queen and princess, when out of the blue, DW asks me the following question - "Did you say we could stay at a deluxe resort at WDW for the same price we paid in April to stay at POP for 5 days?" :cloud9: ... wow... someone wake me up. DW has NEVER initiated a conversation that included the words "stay" and "Walt Disney World" in the form of a question. Unless she is asking me if I lost my mind again. In any case, she is now seriously considering a spring visit to the World (probably middle of May).

DW's main thing at this point is that she wants to try a stay at the Grand Floridian. But I'm not sure DD(6) would like GF as much as Poly. To DW, its important that we stay at one of the monorail resorts and be able to hop a ride to MK this time. What are your thoughts? Poly or GF?

Watching the Live Feed from the Poly all week I would think that would be hard to beat But you know the GF is the Grand of them all so either way you can't go wrong.

I see the Grand as a bit more stuffyer for my taste.

I agree. I want to try Poly!

BTW... Today is DD's 6th birthday!!! :cool1:

We gave her an indoor pool party at a local hotel in Virginia Beach this past Saturday... she had 12 friends join her and they had a blast! The place has 2 pools... a "grown-up" pool with a pool and 2 spa's... and another pool that was a lazy river. She wants to do it every year now! :rotfl:

Happy New Year to all the great DIS Dads out there!

I'd shoot for the Poly. BUT, if she REALLY wants to stay @ GF??? You're gonna be in WDW either way, and dd6 will have fun at either hotel. Basically if my wife ( who LOVES WDW) said she wanted to stay at GF (and money wasn't an issue) I'd say, "Uh... OK!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :cool1: :cool1: :worship: :worship:

OH YEAH, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
