Aaron, or anyone. Is there a possibility that if i call today and make plans that i can convince them to use the that was ok the other day? Or am i SOL? If i move the trip the one day to get back into the free dining it will cost an extra 500. Not even worth it. (random mumbling under my breath)

It is very, very unlikely that they would allow you to book under the old dates.

Here's the deal - free dining gets offered as a way to maintain a certain level of capacity usage at WDW resorts. It's all about pulling people onsite. That is why, even though overall park levels are much lower than at peak season, the resorts are still booked solid. Off-site guests are enticed by offers to stay onsite instead. The dates for the offers are based on unused resort capacity.

While I don't have anyone at WDW feeding me inside information on what was said in the meeting where they reached the decision to alter the dates of the offer, the most likely scenario is that the dates that were removed simply booked up. Rather than have people angry about the fact that no matter what resort they checked for those dates, they couldn't get a room with free dining, they published revised dates. The point is that, even if the dates were still the same as originally published, there probably already were not any rooms left to which the free dining offer would apply on those dates.

These offers are always in limited supply. I'm sorry that it leaves you with some difficult decisions to make about your vacation, but this is why every time I write anything about special offers, I include a warning that these offers book up quickly and to make your reservation soon. It's only tangentially about generating business for myself. I don't get a commission until after the trip takes place anyway, so I couldn't care less how far in advance you book. But if you don't get booked on a special offer as soon as possible, the offer may not be there when you go back to pull the trigger.

I didn't think you sounded snobby - you were legitimately disappointed. I hope I didn't sound harsh. I was just trying to explain how that promotion works and why it may have shifted. I really would be happy to try and help you figure a way to make it work better for you.

I tried using the 'It worked last year" but they didnt go for it. The agents you will talk to can only do what thier computer will allow and if it wont then YES you are SOL. Sorry sir.

So I'm sitting at my computer last night and, out of no-where, my 4 year old daughter starts singing the song from the "Move it, Shake it" parade.

This then prompts my wife to start singing it, followed by my SIL....

Then the next thing I know, our Disney trip DVD is in and they're watching video from our last trip!

My daughter says..."When we go there again, I want to do that parade"

Who says we're going again??!?

And, if you already have one booked, then book or plan to book another. It is time for action. Then after you book it and she finds out, you say, "I remembered it differently" or "I misunderstood", apologize, but you already have a trip booked and don't want to disappoint your daughter.

I was just trying to wrap my head around how the heck shifting to Feb 2 at the Pop would cost $500...I assuming you were shifting the dates...not adding...but even if adding I still didn't see it.

Yeah - we already have a trip booked....and I know without this experience that she is game for another trip for 2013!

Unfortunately, I'm the financial planner in our family, and I KNOW we can't swing a DVC contract right now.
