With all this severe weather we've been having, it's like something out of a movie. My heart and prayers goes out to all who are in need.
It use to be that when a warning came, I might go to our safe place, now there's no question, we go!
I'll admit, I'm bad about this... I guess we hear the warnings so often that I don't always feel the need to get to safety unless I see something on the radar or outside that tells me otherwise. DW hates the cellar and absolutely refuses to go unless something is imminent and even then I have to drag her kicking and screaming. I actually spent some time yesterday evening standing out in the middle of the cornfield by my house to give me a clear view of the sky all the way around so I could watch it. According to the radar, the worst of it was going to be to the North, and it was. Scary and interesting to watch all at the same time.

For anyone who was planning to attend the airshow in Millville, NJ, this weekend:
The Blue Angels have cancelled their appearances in Millville and they remain in a "safety stand down" after an incident during their performance in Lynchburg last weekend. It is not known when they will resume their air show schedule. Safety first!

This is a great disappointment for my wife and I, as well as our son. We hope to get to see them later in the season.

Sorry to hear this. I know you were looking forward to it.

Thank you, where did you purchase it?
If you have cross bars on your roof racks most any of the hard sided luggage carriers should work. We use a roof bag rather than a hard sided carrier because its easier to store. If you are a member of REI you may want to check their quarterly garage sale. ( They have a no questions asked return policy and once a quarter they sell all the stuff they take back) At least around us hard sided roof carriers are pretty common at the garage sales, because a lot of people buy them, use them for a trip and then decide that they didn't work exactly right. Usually they are about half or more off what the traditional price is. For a friend I bought a Yakima box that listed for around 500 for about 200 at one of the sales recently.

To all those in tornado alley, my prayers for you health & safety go out to you. The videos of the devistation are unbelievable.

Tough day at our house. My DWs brother had a heart attack today and had to be rushed to emergency stent placement x 2. Fortunately, he's stabilized and recovering in the ICU. But he's only 43 & my DWs father died of a heart attack when he was 40, so this is bringing up all sorts of unpleasant memories for her
wow, sorry to hear this doc. well keep him in our prayers.

Quiet In here tonight...

Good news bad news for my day;

Good news: looks like I will be a DVC member as of this Friday. Very pumped.

Bad news: the bruins have a joke of a Power Play and are giving me heartburn.
good news, welcome home!!!! bad news, they wernt gonna win the cup anyway.:lmao:

Sorry, Mike! Very disappointing.

Has anyone seen the gnomeo and Juliet? Wasn't at all impressed!!:confused3
We saw it on the Dream. I would give it a whole hearted, enthusiastic Meh!

So.... I think I got a PIN in the mail.:confused3

It was a direct mail ad (addressed to the DW) that said value resorts for $60/night, Mods for $115, and Animal Kingdom Lodge for $189.

The reason I think it was a pin was the line on the direct mail that said, "your Pin is XXXXXXXXXXX"

But since I have never booked a room-only reservation, what does this translate to? 20%, 30%, 40% discounts, or... something different?
Woohoo! you got pinned. They must have heard you on the podcast and thought that you needed to come back to the world. They're having a surplus of Brownie a l mode at Port Orleans.

OK, for the next two hours, you are dead to me!
:lmao:

Praying for your BIL and family. Hope he recovers quickly.

Yeah - I mentioned this to Scott on Facebook earlier today, but here's an interesting tip I learned today. When a tornado warning is issued, do NOT assume you are safe just because you can't see a funnel cloud. Apparently, the funnel cloud only shows up if the tornadic winds are wrapped in rain clouds. We had several touchdowns of tornados today in my neck of the woods with no visible funnel. There were no rain clouds wrapped around them, so we had what amounted to invisible tornados.

Bottom line, take shelter and stay there until an all-clear is sounded. The "invisible" tornados do show up on weather radar, so they'll be taken into account before an all-clear is sounded.
Great... Invisible Tornado's or Ninja-nado's if you will. I can add that to my list of things I now have to worry about.

Sorry to hear this. I hope no one was hurt.

We made it through the storms ok last night. Just wind rain and hail locally. There were some tornadoes to the south of us though. I didn't see any damage this morning, but it was still dark when I left the house. We haven't had power since 11 pm last night, so we left at about 5:30 this morning to go to my parents' house to take showers.

Congratulations! If find that you have too many points and need someone to help use them up, just let me know.:lmao:

Yeah, I'm over this stuff. Never fun. Glad you made it out ok.

Sorry to hear about that, praying for a full and speedy recovery. That really does have to be hard for your wife with her dad's history.

Hopefully that will be back on soon Andy. It looked like it was getting rough in your part of the state last night around 10 or so.

The DFW area is a sports haven! A World Series, a Super Bowl (even though the local team wasn't involved), and an NBA Finals here in the space of eight months. Pretty great. :cheer2::woohoo:

No, there was no damage to any of the jets and no one was injured. The jets finished a maneuver lower than their guidelines allow so they are still reviewing the incident.

Yeah, if it weren't for the torandos, you'd be a paradise! :lmao:

Speaking of which, northern CT was recently rated as the least likely place in the U.S. to experience at natural disaster. If you'd like information about relocating up here, I'd be happy to provide it! :thumbsup2

As an aside, I'm finding it very hard to be productive at my desk today....

Duck,

We ended up going a different route to carry cargo....instead of the traditional rooftop cargo carrier, we went with a saddlebag style carrier that sits off of the back of your vehicle.

Here's a link to what we bought:

SaddleBag Carrier

It worked out extremely well and held up during the rain we drove through. The best thing about it is that you don't get the drag that the rooftop carriers do.

The only cons to this style is that it may cover your license plate on your vehicle. (we just took a picture of ours and blew it up big and printed it out to put in our back window)

I also reinforced the bottom of it with some thin plywood to support the weight a little better. (it comes with a thin piece of plastic for a base that doesn't quite do it well enough)

Just an option....:thumbsup2

Isn't the tax rate in CT fairly high???

Isn't the tax rate in CT fairly high???

Higher than Texas, I'm sure. But the public schools are good, the people are nice, the weather is generally mild, and there are plenty of direct flights from Bradley Airport in Hartford to MCO!

Someone call the pirate brethren together to get this taken care of :lmao:

Btw, a great cameo for Mr. Richards in POTC4

We had tornado touch down about 4 miles from house in a field, so thankfully, no damage. Keith Richards needs a bigger role, or perhaps that's all they can get from him.

Just finished listening to Podcast #7. Excellent job, guys.

But now whenever I see DisDadDoc, I think about sheep. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:
