Okay, so let me get this straight. I requested membership last night on page 147, was accepted on page 152 and we're now on page 164 less than 24 hours after my request?

Alrighty then, it's commando disboards. :worship: I'll fasten my seat restraint and keep my arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times. Let the party continue. I'm arranging for my #582 tattoo now. Thanks for allowing me to hang out with you fellers.

We’re glad to have you along. Just jump on in (the current will drag you along anyway). :lmao:

Where about’s in NC are you?

Man we have had a wave of new Dads joining in here lately. I feel badly that I have not welcomed them up until now. So here goes....WELCOME ABOARD!! In addition to our home away from home here..and the DisDads.com site we also have a presence on Facebook...It is getting about time for Carl or organize another photo blitz!

There that should cover that ha ha.

:thumbsup2 ok, theres the bobcat, wolf,bearcat and the weblo badge? its been 40 years, im i correct?:confused3

Got it, Dave!

Who dressed you Doc?

Clearly I should not be allowed out unsupervised :confused3 But at least I'm smart enough not to get my wife a treadmill for Mother's day...

The one that he's most excited about is spending a night on the USS Alabama Battleship. :thumbsup2

That sounds very cool! A great way to introduce them to history!

Is there a big problem with scouts smoking?

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Great pic, Phil! :woohoo:

Doc, good looking young man you have there :thumbsup2

Hopefully he will learn the secret of marrying above his pay grade like the rest of us :rotfl2:

Thanks, duck! I can only hope...

And it’s time for a little bit more. Very cool picture Chris :thumbsup2
I had the opportunity to lead a group of cubs through their year as Bears and then through two years of Webelos. It was a lot of work, but absolutely worth it. I was a scout in my early youth. Nowhere near as successful at it as the folks in this afternoon’s discussion, but it certainly had a major effect on who I am. As such I was quit proud to work with the younger kids as my son was working his way up through the Cub program. After all of my second years successfully completed their Arrow of Light (the only Cub award that you can take with you on up into Scouts) we held the crossing over ceremony underneath a massive old oak tree (rather fitting I thought). Afterward, the boys who had just crossed over presented me with a thank you present of a pocket watch. I was not expecting that at all and to this day it is on of my most prized possessions.

Great story, Rob. Thanks for sharing. I only did a year or two of scouts as a child myself, but I love Christopher's line about only getting one chance to do some things in life. Used it tonight when one of the leaders asked me why I was taking a week of my vacation to spend it at scout camp this summer (actually two weeks, one for Cub and one for Boy Scouts). Only get a short time with them when they're this age. How can any of us let it slip by? A lot of overlap with family Disney trips, I think.

Welcome aboard! Por favor, mantengase alejado de las puertas.

OK… If I read this right, from the time I had to actually get to work up to now, We started with a request for pictures of the result of consuming out of date mayonnaise, progressed to the lofty and truly admirable heights of Scouting and Young Marines and them descended back down to the concepts of clogged toilets and “Thunderbutt”.

Do I have that right? :rolleye:

You forgot stopher's BACON Picture !!!! :cool1::cool1:

Gee, miss two days, 35 pages zip on by.....thank goodness this hospital trip was only an hour wait....:lmao:

Lots of discussion on scouts here today. Thought I'd post this pic of my son, Dan, and I in our uniforms. Dan's actually going to be featured in a medical magazine this summer because of a anti-smoking program he worked on for the scouts. This is the photo that goes with the article. Hopefully, our uniforms are up to code!

That's awesome!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Chris- great pic, sounds like a great young man!

Bunch24- our pack recently did an overnight at the USS Alabama. We were not able to make it, but those that did had a blast.

Here is my oldest DS and me at a recent campout.

More awesome-ness! :thumbsup2 :)

I'm just north of Raleigh with family in Rocky Mount (east) and Charlotte (southwest), so I keep the spread covered.
There's a bunch of us dads in the triangle area. We should try and do our own meet. We could do a bulls or a mudcats game and of course there's always Beverly Street...

Everyone's Boyscout pics make me really wish DS had time to be involved with them.

I can't believe bacon got left out.

To paraphrase the great and awesome Ferris Beuller...

... life moves pretty fast in the DDC - if you step away from the computer - you'll miss it!

And I should be taken to task for that egregious oversight. Prior post updated (seriously, go see for yourself).

We’re just across the boarder a bit south of Charlotte. If you’re down that way with absolutely nothing better to do, we’ll need to take in a Knights or Checkers game (or some other potential southern DisDadMeet type of gathering).

Now you do!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Okay, so here I am with both of my sons. This was taken last year on Father's Day - the day we traditionally leave for Summer Camp. Both boys and I have earned some stuff since then, so our uniforms are slightly more decorated now... but you get the idea... oh yeah, and both have grown upwards since then, and I've sadly gotten a bit more rounded :sad1: since then.

OK...since we've gone there....

My co-worker (who is also my BIL) is known as ThunderButt and has this thing where he'll plant his butt flush on the hollow door to my office and rattle one off....It's quite loud and obnoxious. :rotfl2:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Welcome. I was also going to ask where in NC, but someone did that on a previous post. Was in your neck of the woods a couple of weeks ago. If your ever in the mountains, give me a yell.

So, today was a most interesting day. I got to school around 7 and began to unlock all of the doors. My mother calls me around 7:05 (she comes up and stays with my son and takes him to school since DW works nights) and says, "I have a problem. Your oven just shot flames out of the front, and now the top element is burning." :scared1: So, I told her that I was headed home right then to check on things (I'm only 10 minutes away from home). I got about half way there and called her, and she said "it's still burning, do I need to call 911??" I told her to go ahead and I would be there shortly. When I got home, I could hear the fire whistle screaming and within 2 minutes a truck pulled up to our house. Before the truck got there, I went in and looked, and the top element was burning like a sparkler; really bright around the element and it was shooting sparks off in all different directions. Not a consistent flame, but still not a comfortable sight either. I went and turned off the breaker to the oven and it immediately stopped burning. That is when the fire department walked through the door. I hated to call about something that small, but if it had gotten back into our walls I would probably be typing this from a hotel tonight. Luckily, when you live in a small town, you know about everyone, and one of the two volunteers that got there almost immediately has kids at my school, and he reassured us that calling even for something as small as this was the right thing to do because it had the potential to do much more damage than just to the element. No smoke damage at all to anything but the element, but just enough excitement to scare the bejeebus out of you really quick :scared1: First time that I've ever been involved with something like this, and if it's okay with ya'll, I'd like to make it my last as well.

Other than that, it was a great day :lmao:

I will be over in both area's next month sometime. I will let you both know once I get my schedule set up.

WOW Greg! :eek: So happy for you all that it was not any worse.

Post #500!

As small as this milestone is compared to some on this board it's still big for me. My love affair with Disney began when I was taken to the park in '78 with my family. Since '78 though, I've traveled to the parks on single day trips more than I can count. I joined the DIS Boards in 2009 before our first on-campus stay so I could learn more about the parks and learn about what it's like to stay IN Disney. I picked up invaluable knowledge but here in the DDC I've found great friends. I look forward to the day when I can participate in a DDC meet @ the world someday. I've either started or participated in at least two (3 maybe?) MAN LAWS and learned more about what it's like to be a real DIS Dad.

Thanks everyone!

Edit: Oh yeah, and I learned about the joy of Dole Whips. My life hasn't been the same ever since!

Here's looking forward to the next 500!
Congratulations on the milestone! It has been a day full of them.

Yeah, this thing has been moving at warp speed for the past couple of months. The more Dads we add, the faster it goes... not that it is a bad thing.

Dave you should be able to call to make ressies since you are staying onsite. 180 +10 days if you are onsite. Im calling tonight.

Yak and Yeti counter service is one of the best!!!

We were thinking of trying there this trip, only place we usually eat at in AK is Flame Tree and Tusker breakfast...
