Me too. I bought several items when I was there in early February. Looking forward to bringing a few more things home in early April.

DL did that last year as well, for their 55th. It's nice to see some of the old coming back on both coasts - as well as a bit more of the uniqueness factor, that used to be very prevalent throughout both resorts. It got waaaaaayyyy too homogenized for entirely too long, IMO at both destinations.

Couldn't agree more. :thumbsup2 I always loved being able to get something there that I absolutely, positively, couldn't get anywhere else. Still mourning the resort-specific items.

Hey, did you get the PM I sent you on FB?

Finally I found the DIS Dads! I’m planning a trip for this October on the Dream (1st Cruise) and 4 nights at the CBR with my first MNSSHP. I’ve been a huge Disney fan from my youth, but nobody ever understood it. It all started with my Grandma in Kansas who had the Disneyland Picture Souvenir book. First thing I would do, every time I went to visit was go straight to that book and look through it for hours (sidenote: when my DG passed in ’89 my mom presented me with this treasured book and I have since shared it with my DD). Finally my parents gave in to my persistence and took me to DL in ’81. My next visit was not until my Honeymoon and my first visit to WDW. Since then, I’m sad to say the Magic left me (but still a fan) until one day at a Chucky Cheese in Amarillo of all places, while looking at their pathetic animatronics it came to me….I’ve got to take my DD to DL for her birthday, plus it was the year of Celebrations where she got in for free. I realized what I’ve been missing. Since then, I have planned how to get back and I think listening to Disny Park music all day is okay....right?

I love planning this vacation (between meetings with the Bobs) and appreciate all that the DIS Dads and the DISboards have to offer.

Oh my goodness I did - and didn't get back to you. Shame on me. It sounded good... I'll go re-read it, and respond back to you over there.

Hey dads, ok, my interview this morning went REALLY well, but then again, so have the other few I've been on in the last 9 months. Either way, the interviewer called me back within two hours of the interview because she forgot to ask my salary requirements. I'm trying not to read too much into that, but I do have a really good feeling about this. Which brings us to this point, DW made me an offer, if I got the job, we'd take the girls to Disney for Memorial Day Weekend, if I didn't get the job, she'd come with me to a Punk Rock Concert (I'm going with or without her). Well, in the past year, we've been to MK 4 times (our girls are 6 & 3), but with all the closures and construction in MK we want to take this time to check out the other parks. So, the question I pose to you guys is this, one day, one park not MK, which one? We've never been to AK, last time I went to Epcot was New Years Eve 1995 and I don't remember anything beyond Germany, and I've only been to HS twice, back when it was called MGM.

Crossing fingers for ya! As for your question, I would choose EPCOT. However; Since you are much closer than I am and have higher odds of being able to return. I would suggest Animal Kindom, isnt Memorial Day all about being out in the heat anyway. Most important question, what band are you going to see?

No problem! FB has been giving me connectivity issues at home, so I just wanted to make sure.

We might not be able to return for some time, we are waiting on the DOJ to lift the hiring freeze so that DW can start her dream job in Indianapolis, but since that may now fall through, I started looking for work locally again (at least until August). As far as the band(s), it's Bad Religion / Rise Against. I'm an old school punk and my DW actually likes Rise Against, but hates Bad Religion.....go figure...

Thanks for the input guys, looks like Animal Kingdom wins, but I'm curious why no one went with Hollywood Studios?

I think Hollywood Studios is great for older kids/teens, but there's just not as much there for younger kids. There would likely be height issues with Tower of Terror and/or Rock-n-Roller Coaster, if the kids weren't too inimidated to ride them anyway. They're probably too young to "get" the Great Movie Ride. And sitting in the sun waiting for a stunt show to start is challenging at best. Toy Story Midway Mania is a great ride, but the FastPass/congestion issues with it are almost overwhelming, especially when it's really the one ride in the entire park that is tailored to the younger kids. The rest of HS's highlights are shows, and again, you're battling attention span with younger children.

I couldn't help it.
I just called the Epcot England phone booths. Spoke with a woman from Nashville, TN. She said the weather has been great and the crowds were not too bad.

...and she answered the phone "Hello, we're having a magical day."

I can't wait.

:cool1::cool1:

Day 1 has been great. :thumbsup2 It was an Epcot Day for us. Crowds were heavy but not I the worst I've seen on a spring break. Test Track seemed to be at a pretty constant 50 minute wait after about 11 am. I think Soarin peaked at about a 105 minute wait. Of course we use a touring plan and were there at rope drop so we didn't wait in any significant lines.

I don't think the resorts are as crowded as they predicted either. I was able to check at 6:45 am and our room was ready, and the parking lots haven't been that crowded.

We did Sum of All Thrills for the first time. I'd definitely recommend it, but would hit it early. It didn't show up on our touring plan.

Sounds like a great day! And you are starting off right with Epcot :thumbsup2 I'll be posting up a Sum of All Thrills experience on my TR... SOME day! :lmao: Did you keep your card??

WOW!!!! DisDads VII :thumbsup2

Don better fire up VIII soon :surfweb:

I need to spruce it up a little bit. The walls are a bit drab and for the love of God I can't figure where that smell is coming from.... :confused3

OK Question guys, I need to talk the wife into going to DW later this year... because I want to go. She wants to "save" the money. I saw a lady post a similar question on another thread asking how to convince her spouse. Most of the replies said to dress in plastic wrap and lay on his car and it would work. I tried that last night and she never stopped laughing, plus it was hard to get on top of the minivan with out the plastic wrap ripping. So any other ideas on how I can convince her ?

:lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Plastic wrap is sooo last season. You need to use bubble wrap! That way after she laughs and says no, at least you have bubble wrap to pop and keep yourself entertained!

:rotfl2: Or at least break your fall from the hood!

**mmph** At least it wasn't SHRINK WRAP **mmph**

Maybe it was cold out? :rotfl2:

I would say it depends on when you go. If you're there in the blazing Florida summer, I would recommend Epcot. There are many more places the get relief from the heat. If it's a "cooler" time of the year I would go with Animal Kingdom.

With young kids, I'd vote for either Animal Kingdom or Epcot, and would lean toward Epcot. Epcot has some excellent family-friendly rides, like Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, Turtle Talk with Crush, Soarin' and Test Track - but depending on how tall your three-year-old is...

Ummm... are you sure Christopher sisn't log in with your ID, Aaron?? :lmao:

OK, It’s time to take a little flack for a fellow Southerner.
May it please the court... I present Exhibit-A:

Welcome!!! Wow I am starting to move up in the dad numbers, no longer on the bottom :)

Thanks for the input guys, looks like Animal Kingdom wins, but I'm curious why no one went with Hollywood Studios?

Hollywood is fun, I have 5 kids, 4 of which are under 4. Of the four parks it is the least favorite of the smaller kids, they like the Little mermaid, beauty and the beast shows and TSM, otherwise they couldn't do the bigger rides. My older daughter liked it and loves fantasmic. The crowds on fantasmic nights are horrible though.

I think Hollywood Studios is great for older kids/teens, but there's just not as much there for younger kids. There would likely be height issues with Tower of Terror and/or Rock-n-Roller Coaster, if the kids weren't too inimidated to ride them anyway. So I got this today in an email from Denny's... I know, you're wondering why I get emails from Denny's... but it all started a couple of years ago while signing up to get a couple of free meals at the Denny's on SR 535 near the Crossroads Shopping Plaza for our Sea World trip... and I just haven't unsubscribed to their stuff yet...

Anyway... I think they must have read through our pages in the past couple of weeks, and this MUST have been in honor of the DDC! :rotfl:

Thats awesome. Have a good friend who opened for Bad Religion about 10 years back. Going to see Social Distortion end of April. Best concert ever was a tie between Social D w/ Tiger Army or Danzig. Wish I could have been around to see the real "danzig" Misfits. Love to talk music anytime, always enjoy the oppurtunity to expand my pallett.

AJRitz, I may be in your area soon. Looking to come up for a Royals game. My brother is in Lee's Summit and I havent seen him in way to long, nothing like a baseball game. Oddly enough he actually got married in Overland Park.
