DIS Dads The DIS Dad's Club VII - Oh Peanut Butter...

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Thats awesome. Have a good friend who opened for Bad Religion about 10 years back. Going to see Social Distortion end of April. Best concert ever was a tie between Social D w/ Tiger Army or Danzig. Wish I could have been around to see the real "danzig" Misfits. Love to talk music anytime, always enjoy the oppurtunity to expand my pallett.

AJRitz, I may be in your area soon. Looking to come up for a Royals game. My brother is in Lee's Summit and I havent seen him in way to long, nothing like a baseball game. Oddly enough he actually got married in Overland Park.

If you want to travel about 30 miles further north I will take you to dinner, nuthin fancy but who doesn't love McDonalds..... Or rumor has it that Dennys has a Bacon Sundae ! ! :)

If you come up for a Royals game, we should do a Dis Dads meet - we could all grab dinner together or something. Seems a shame to have a fellow Dis Dad in town and not indulge in some legendary KC BBQ. I live out South in Overland Park, but work across the street from Crown Center (between the Plaza and downtown), so I can get just about anywhere.

Hey guys I made it back from Bristol! We had a great time in Bristol and the races were awesome (right up till the last lap of both races...Not a Kyle Busch fan).

Did I miss anything?
I'm not a fan of the shrub either... I'd probably ask for my money back if I went to a race and saw him win. Then again, you still went to Bristol!:thumbsup2

OK Question guys, I need to talk the wife into going to DW later this year... because I want to go. She wants to "save" the money. I saw a lady post a similar question on another thread asking how to convince her spouse. Most of the replies said to dress in plastic wrap and lay on his car and it would work. I tried that last night and she never stopped laughing, plus it was hard to get on top of the minivan with out the plastic wrap ripping. So any other ideas on how I can convince her ?
Wow... funniest thing I've read on here in a few weeks.:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Fed needs a lot of horsepower to pull his boat. The trailer has spinners, which adds to the aerodynamic drag. :rotfl2:
You know, I didn't know anybody even had spinners anymore. I thought they went out of style 4 or 5 years ago... then I saw a Ford truck this morning sitting in a driveway with spinners and it made me think of Fed.:lmao:

Hey dads, ok, my interview this morning went REALLY well, but then again, so have the other few I've been on in the last 9 months. Either way, the interviewer called me back within two hours of the interview because she forgot to ask my salary requirements. I'm trying not to read too much into that, but I do have a really good feeling about this. Which brings us to this point, DW made me an offer, if I got the job, we'd take the girls to Disney for Memorial Day Weekend, if I didn't get the job, she'd come with me to a Punk Rock Concert (I'm going with or without her). Well, in the past year, we've been to MK 4 times (our girls are 6 & 3), but with all the closures and construction in MK we want to take this time to check out the other parks. So, the question I pose to you guys is this, one day, one park not MK, which one? We've never been to AK, last time I went to Epcot was New Years Eve 1995 and I don't remember anything beyond Germany, and I've only been to HS twice, back when it was called MGM.
Good luck on getting the job! It looks like your question has already been answered, but I think EPCOT or AK either one would be a good choice. I personally would go to HS over AK, but as it has been pointed out it isn't exactly the most kid friendly park.

Finally I found the DIS Dads! I’m planning a trip for this October on the Dream (1st Cruise) and 4 nights at the CBR with my first MNSSHP. I’ve been a huge Disney fan from my youth, but nobody ever understood it. It all started with my Grandma in Kansas who had the Disneyland Picture Souvenir book. First thing I would do, every time I went to visit was go straight to that book and look through it for hours (sidenote: when my DG passed in ’89 my mom presented me with this treasured book and I have since shared it with my DD). Finally my parents gave in to my persistence and took me to DL in ’81. My next visit was not until my Honeymoon and my first visit to WDW. Since then, I’m sad to say the Magic left me (but still a fan) until one day at a Chucky Cheese in Amarillo of all places, while looking at their pathetic animatronics it came to me….I’ve got to take my DD to DL for her birthday, plus it was the year of Celebrations where she got in for free. I realized what I’ve been missing. Since then, I have planned how to get back and I think listening to Disney Park music all day is okay....right?

I love planning this vacation (between meetings with the Bobs) and appreciate all that the DIS Dads and the DISboards have to offer.

Dave aka Grooovertoo
Welcome to the club Dave. Sorry about the meetings with the Bobs. Just remember to tell it like it is.:rotfl2:

Epcot or AK. MGM/HS is my least favorite

Not just Bacon, but Maple Bacon. :thumbsup2

Seen Social D a few times, it seems like they're constantly touring. Bad Religion, like Ministry have always evaded me, whenever they play, including on Warped, something comes up and I can't make it. My favorite line up of all time was Suicidal Tendencies opening for Jane's Addiction back in '89 or '90, not sure exactly when, those years were kind of fuzzy. Also, seeing Dead Milkmen in a tiny little club on South Beach with 50 other people was cool. Not to mention the Henry Rollins and Jello Biafra spoken word gigs, always enlightening.....

I think my favorite may have been seeing Firehose twice in three weeks (I think it would have been 1991), once in Lawrence and once in St. Louis, both times in small clubs. The bruises on my ribs had barely healed from the first show when we went to see them a second time. :cool1:

I'm a little torn, it'll probably be AK because we've never been, but the heat is worrisome, though we are native Floridians and can handle it. Epcot sounds great also, it's a little more familiar to me, but the size of it might be a problem with the kids.

Oh well, I still have to get the job first......

Ha, bruised ribs reminds me of another show, Violent Femmes at UM's student center for Homecoming (I gate-crashed). Got home that night and noticed blood on my jeans, but I had no cuts on me........

Congrats on hitting 1,000 posts!!! :thumbsup2

How's the new Macbook Pro working out for you? Hope you were able to restore from you backup!

I guess I need to find out when I can go up and meet with my brother to get this thing moving. Will have to get back with you guys. Sounds like a blast though. Any college basketball fans I'm hoping Mizzou looses their coach soon. Lets call those HOGS Mike Anderson.

Hah. Whoda thunk? In the midst of a day of posts about the Dis Dads Podcast, disdads.com, and park recommendations, my 1000th disboards post is about the perils of too much slamdancing. :confused3

The new MacBook Pro is working out great. I was able to perform a full "brain-transplant" from the MacBook to the new MBP.

The best part is that, though I wish I had been able to confirm this before shelling out for the MBP, the MacBook is back up and running again. The hard drive issues appear to have been merely symptoms of overheating, because of the fan problem. I took my MacBook into the Genius Bar and left it with them. They told me that the fan replacement would run $27 (including tax) but that it would take 7-10 days because they were in the midst of the Spring Break rush (students bringing in computers for repair while they're home from college on break).

Instead, they got it done in 48 hours. And not only did they fix the fan, they replaced the entire topcase (including the keyboard) and bezel, because they had fallen victim to the infamous case crack problem with the older MacBooks. And when I picked it up, they didn't charge me the $27 for the fan repair, even though I'm over a year outside of my AppleCare warranty. :thumbsup2

So now, we've got two working laptops. I'm working on getting DW used to the idea that the Black MacBook is "hers" and the MBP is mine. I do much more computationally heavy work than she does - photo editing, audio editing, DVD ripping, etc. AND I absolutely don't want the new MBP getting brought into the kitchen to use to look up recipes while cooking.

I'll eventually replace the HD in the MacBook anyway. I'll try and hold off for a few months, just to get over the cash flow hump after buying the new MBP, and perhaps replace the MacBook's HD with a smaller SSD drive (since I don't need to keep all of the media files on it that are currently eating up drive space).

I'm not sure why you all want him.
He has yet to recruit a top-shelf player who qualified academically and who wasn't either a relative or his godson. And with one exception, his teams have gotten worse at toward the end of the season and not better. Maybe my lenses are too Crimson-and-Blue colored, but I'm not sure there's a more overrated basketball coach in the NCAA than Mike Anderson.

On a totally different subject.....

I just thought I'd put it out there that I work for a Ford dealership.

I have access to rebates and invoices etc....

So if anyone ever needs any help or guidance in buying their next Ford or Lincoln - I'm your man. :thumbsup2

Sweet. DW is looking at a Ford Edge...

Obviously, they are interested. Don't sell yourself short and be aware that IF they offer something... it will most likely be the low end of your range. :)
