For the topic of 'what to do in your area', here are a few things to do around my area:
- NFL Football - the oft hated Dallas Cowboys (and the new 'Death Star' stadium that Jerry Jones built)
- MLB Baseball - Texas Rangers (the 2011 World Series was here!)
- NBA Basketball - Dallas Mavericks (maybe we will win a championship this year)
- NHL Hockey - Dallas Stars (they are not too Peanut Butter-y)
- Horse Racing - Lone Star Park (never been there yet)
- College sports - TCU and SMU
- NASCAR and other racing - Texas Motor Speedway
- Six Flags over Texas
- Multiple water parks
- Casinos (a few within a few hours' drive)
- Fort Worth Museum of Science and History (has a domed Omni IMAX theater)
- Fort Worth Zoo (ranked as a Top 5 Zoo in the Nation)
- Dallas Zoo (not too shabby)
- Cabela's
- Bass Pro Shop
-
Legoland Discovery Center ( scheduled to open March 30, 2011)
- Historical Fort Worth Stockyards
- GM Factory
- Foodies: the DFW area supposedly has one of the highest ratios of restaurants per capita in the country.
- BBQ - Texas BBQ is mainly a slightly sweet/spicy vinegar-based sauce and lots of beef (brisket), but most places still do the typical pork, pork ribs, sausage, turkey, and chicken.
- Steaks - Bob's Steak and Chop House, Del Frisco Double Eagle Steakhouse, Ruth's Chris, etc.
Dallas and Fort Worth are about 30 miles apart, but the way the suburbs and Arlington and Grand Prairie all intertwine - it is like one big metropolitan area (called the Metroplex.)
The difference between Dallas and Fort Worth: Dallas is more 'big city' hustle and bustle and hoity-toity, while Fort Worth is more laid back and slower paced.
