Should help ease the post Black Eyed Peas halftime show trauma.

I didn't know you were coming over. Can you grab some wings on the way?

1) We're extremely likely to use my Brother-in-Law's timeshare for this trip. That would preclude us from most Disney "deals." I'm wondering whether it might be worthwhile to just buy tickets sometime this summer, before the next price increase, with the no-expiration option? With our trip a full two years out, I'm thinking the savings could be pretty significant, if it means we avoid (at least) two rounds of increases.
2) The "window" for this trip is December-February 2013. I'd actually prefer to avoid the Holiday decorations/Christmas stuff to the extent possible. And after this Winter especially, I'd love to escape the coldest part of Winter (which around here is generally January-February). Anyone have comments about crowds, atmosphere, weather at WDW in January and February.
3) Our last trip was a complete surprise to the kids, and that worked well. They loved the surprise (The Bug especially), and it kept us from having to hear the, "is it time to go to Walt Disney World yet?" every day for a year. But The Bug would be 10-years-old for this trip (Squeaker would be 6). Should we keep this one a surprise too, or tell them so that they can be involved in planning (normally, planning is my job)?

1.) I believe that as long as you don't activate your tickets, they are good for as long as you want to hold on to them. Once you walk through the gate the first time, you have 14 days before they expire. Unless you are looking to use them over a longer period of time, I don't think that you need the no expiration option.

2.) From past experience, I will say that Jan-Feb is a great time to go. It may be cool some days, but it is almost always warmer than home. The crowds are typically lighter as well as long as you don't go during one of the holiday dates like MLK or Presidents day. The crowd calendars lately have been really low. :cool1:

3.) They will be :yay::yay: either way!

Can I come, too? Love that show! New season looks great. From the previews, looks like more "amateurs" than last time

Nice VD present! :thumbsup2

Oh really?? :lmao:

CRUD

Checking in for the first time since Friday... a lot to catch up on. I was in my brother in law's wedding Saturday and we stayed around to help undecorate after the reception making it a late night. We got up Sunday and went to church and I was exhausted... thought it was just from the late night. We went to eat lunch at a local pizza place and I had no appetite... I usally eat half a pizza there. Well, by the time I got home I figured out why I didn't have any appetite... I had the stomach flu. Sunday was a brutal day, needless to say I didn't get to eat good food and drink beer while watching the Super Bowl. In fact, I slept through the 1st and 3rd quarters of the game. I've been off work the past 2 days, but feeling better now. Hopefully I'll get back to work tomorrow. I'm about to go crazy sitting around the house at this point.

Sorry to hear that you've not been feeling well. That junk is still going around at my school; seems like it has been since about October with no breaks. Hang in there.

As far as halftime shows, they in general stink. I wish they would go back to the straight 15 minute halftime like they do in the regular year and be done with it. As far as National Anthems, I have a couple of favorites from over the years that have happened at other sporting events.

Well guys I have a bit of news...

...My FIL has had a couple of setbacks in his cancer treatments/situation. The primary one is that the Tarceva drug he's been on to inhibit / slow the growth has stopped working. And between his last appointment and today's, the tumor on his liver has doubled in size. Needless to say DW and her siblings are beside themselves. The doctors and my FIL have decided to pursue chemo, but way back at the beginning, the doctors basically said the Tarceva had a higher percentage rate of working than chemo. We'll see. His spirits today were crushed. DW hasn't made the call to him yet, as her sister said it wouldn't matter yet...he's been in tears all afternoon and isn't talking to anyone. He goes for his first chemo treatment next week, not sure when - and then after that we'll determine when DW will go back out there. She's thinking later, but at this point we just don't know. As I learn more, I'll share.

Sorry to hear that things have taken a bad turn for him. Cancer is a very frustrating disease to see a loved one go through. I hope that he can get some help from the chemo.

Sure thing...go ahead...Gentlemen, Start your engines!:car:

Thanks guys! :grouphug: It is tough. It's hard to watch from a distance too. Even harder when your wife really wants to head out there NOW - but can't. Next week we'll know more after his first chemo treatment - and then she'll work it out with her siblings as to when she should go out there. Sigh.
