Well guys I have a bit of news...

...My FIL has had a couple of setbacks in his cancer treatments/situation. The primary one is that the Tarceva drug he's been on to inhibit / slow the growth has stopped working. And between his last appointment and today's, the tumor on his liver has doubled in size. Needless to say DW and her siblings are beside themselves. The doctors and my FIL have decided to pursue chemo, but way back at the beginning, the doctors basically said the Tarceva had a higher percentage rate of working than chemo. We'll see. His spirits today were crushed. DW hasn't made the call to him yet, as her sister said it wouldn't matter yet...he's been in tears all afternoon and isn't talking to anyone. He goes for his first chemo treatment next week, not sure when - and then after that we'll determine when DW will go back out there. She's thinking later, but at this point we just don't know. As I learn more, I'll share.

You and yours are in our thoughts and prayers. Even if the Tarceva has a better rate of remission, that doesn't mean that the chemo won't work. Good luck and good wishes to you all.

Finally got caught up on the 20 pages of chatter I missed while at The Happiest Place on Earth. We took my son out of school for a week for our trip and - due to the bad weather in Ft Worth/Dallas area - he only officially missed one day! So that worked out great.

We flew back during the SuperBowl and the game did not record on my DVR because my Verizon Fios TV, Phone, and Internet was down. PEANUT BUTTER and BEVERLY! (And I also did not get last week's Idol recorded.)

I am trying to get my Trip Report started soon. If it is anything like my Pre-Trip Report, it may end up taking until the summer to finish due to my long winded-ness.

Looking into setting this up in the next week or so.

So far, Yahoo is not offering a 2011 Fantasy Baseball season option.

FanTrax offers a free league option and Nate has already set up a football league there for next year because it is free and very customizable.

I was thinking about using FanTrax for baseball as well, but I have never used it before. Anyone have any thoughts?

Also, for anyone wanting to play, what type of scoring? Standard Rotisserie? Head-to-head? Points based? I have done them all and have no real preference.

Once it is set up, I will be soliciting e-mails and making the invites.

Finally, Nate, any interest in being co-commish in this one?

ClearScreen

Can't wait!

I prefer 5x5 scoring, overall points... but I am flexible.

I have finished my TR in compliance to DisDads Man Law. I can now officially start planning next WDW trip without fear of being hyjacked by pirates, or plagued by giant crickets:lmao:

stopher ~ You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. We went through something similar with my Mom back in 1989. It was the toughest 5 months of our lives and is something you never forget.

a game to help you waste a minute or two while at work today...

Funny, the second time that I played the game, all 5 of my times were exactly the same down to the thousandth.

Welcome back. Hope ya'll had a great time.

They are cussin' on the local weather report again. Snow possible tonight and in the AM, and the times are going to be such that it could mess up school totally for tomorrow. I'm hoping for a 2 hour delay, but I'm betting that I won't get it, unfortunately. And, for some interesting news, DS and I, along with a kid on his soccer team and the kid's dad, are going to Nashville to watch the US play Paraguay in soccer in March. Never seen a soccer match in person, so DS and I are really pumped up for it.

And one more thing; what do you do when your wife plans a Disney trip with her sister and mother and conveniently leaves you out of the trip?? Elbow drop from the top rope?? Figure 4 leg lock??? Sleeper hold??? Any advice is appreciated.

Oh, Christopher! Our prayers are with you and your family. So hard being so far away! Praying for the chemo to work!

Stopher,
My heart hurts for you and your family my friend. I went through this with my own Mom when she was 50yo. Took care of her the last month she was alive. My families prayers are truly with you and yours my friend. Stay strong especially for your beautiful wife she will need you more then you will know this next few months.

Sad news. Praying you all stay strong. One day at a time.

You and yours are in our thoughts and prayers. Even if the Tarceva has a better rate of remission, that doesn't mean that the chemo won't work. Good luck and good wishes to you all.

It is hard, and yes, my wife is going to need extra over the next weeks and months. While it isn't the same, I do have experience with this first hand in that 20 years ago (maybe I shared this when this all started, I don't remember now) -but 20 years ago my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer in her back. She had fallen (like my FIL) and injured her hip pretty badly. My mom and I took her to my orthopedist (have had knee problems since I was 16) and he ran various tests, etc. Well a tumor the size of softball was discovered on her spine, which actually they later determined had been in her body for years in a benign state, having spread from her chest after a mastectomy years before. Long story short - she was diagnosed in July - and I was her primary caregiver / until she went into the hospital and then the convalescent home - and she died the day after my birthday in October. She fought hard until about mid-September and then gave up. The chemo was very hard on her, and she finally said enough, and was gone within 2 1/2 weeks.

From what Julie has told me, today he's very angry. A normal reaction and emotion for many cancer patients. He was in quite a mood apparently when she talked to him. So yeah - it'll be a "fun" period for us no doubt. She's really trying to determine when to get out there that she might be of help, but so far her siblings and mom don't want to talk about it because it just means death. Sure she wants to go out there when that happens too, but right now it's for her to help him. Sigh.

So we'll just see how it all plays out, and yeah, I might vent from time to time... but I know you'll understand and are happy to help by at least listening. Thanks guys. :grouphug:

I'm with BigTex on this one! Though I'm trying to plan a trip with my older 3 an a good friend of mine for the late august special this year, and mom & baby girl can do a "goddess trip" but so far that plan isn't going far fast.
