I didn't really care too much about who won, just wanted to see a good game. Glad that the Steelers finally decided to get going towards the half.
Congrats to the Packers and fans. I guess that I may have been unintentionally rooting for them with the Cheesy snacks we had (Sausage dip, Pizza, Cheesecake).

I agree that the Half-time show was just bad. Even worse was the singing of the National Anthem. This is probably the most watched and heard singing of the National Anthem each year. If she wouldn't have been so focused on adding her own "flair" she might have been able to remember the words. Why can't these singers JUST SING THE SONG! :headache: It's important to some of us!

Not overly impressed with the commercials, although I did laugh at a couple of the Pepsi Max ones. The best one liner in a commercial had to be the response to Ozzy Osbourne asking "What's a Bieber?" :lmao::lmao:

Now, what do I do with my Sunday afternoons between now and August?

The Prince halftime show a few years ago was AMAZING, complete with a totally unplanned rainstorm starting while he played "Purple Rain", and playing right through it without a hitch. I actually used to enjoy the Black Eyed Peas, back around 1998 or so. Then will.i.am discovered autotune and it's been all downhill since then. The halftime show was AWFUL. I was wondering what they were going to do with the dancing ice cube-heads at the end. Turned out, nothing. What a waste of time, money, and talent.

In other news, it's good to be back to work today. I'm not sure which is worse though - being sick for a week or digging out from under the mess that accumulates while you're out sick for a week?

Glad to hear that you're back on your feet AJ! Seems like you had your own climate there for a while.

While there was much eating, drinking, talking, etc... going on during the halftime show I thought it wasn't too bad. I like the BYP and their 'futuristic' style. Coming from LA as a hip-hop group that was signed to Easy-E's label to what they have become today, I can understand the transformation. I liked them when they were hip-hop but as a POP group they have a broader audience. They also have a 5-6 grammy's too. As far as auto-tune, it is a fad that is luckily on it's way out. I liked seeing Slash but didn't care for Fergie's rendition of Sweet Child of Mine. Sing it the right way. I guess I need to watch it again and maybe I'll have a different take on it.

Hey, the halftime show could be much worse... we could have Kanye West, Lil' Wayne or Soulja Boy out there. :sad2: :sad2:

ITA.... I wish they would sing the anthem the way it was written. Adding all the extra notes and drawing it out is VERY annoying. It is embarrassing when they sing the wrong words. :headache::headache:

Watch NASCAR? :confused3 :lmao:

I remember liking the U2 halftime show. Otherwise, I can't think of a single halftime show I've ever enjoyed. Apparently, wastewater treatment plants all over the nation experience their single greatest flow rate at halftime of the Super Bowl. :thumbsup2

Anyway, I think the Mythbusters should do the halftime show from now on.

being the only person in the house who likes football (im talking american....not the real game) i was a bit sad thinking about it being just me staying up late...watching the game...eating popcorn and drinking bud on my own....then i thought hey..im going to be in sole charge of the tv...a big bucket of corn and a large pack of beer :dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer:party:

ESPN showed Aston Villa against Sunderland on Saturday (maybe tuesday), and the DW and I were both like, "Who?"

LIVERPOOL! (you know, everyone has to pick a team, and i won't cheer for Man U or Chelsea. Anyone can buy a championship.)

Absolutely. Part of my future campaign for President will have "The Monday after Super Bowl Sunday is a Federal Holiday" as a major plank in the platform.

If the NFL added 2 extra games to the schedule, the Super Bowl could be pushed to the Sunday before President's day. Then, the majority of the U.S. WOULD be off... just saying.
Or, start the season 2 weeks later and achieve the same effect.

Sunday after church, one of the other moms started talking to me. She said "so, i hear you like disneyworld. is that true? We were thinking of taking our 7 and 5 year olds this Summer. Should we go?"
and, thus, the commercial for how amazing Disneyworld is began...

Holy Peanut Butter. I'm waaaay behind on all of the threads here on the DIS, including 10+ pages on this one. Quite a roller coaster week, starting last Monday. DW calls to tell me DD6 threw up all over the kitchen as she was getting ready for school. DW had court that day, so I come back home to stay with the kids. DD is still sick on Tuesday, so DW stays home with them. Wednesday DD wakes up feeling much better, but we have 23 inches of snow outside, including drifts of 6-8'. I can't even open the side door. We shovel/snowblow for over 2 hours before we can get the cars out onto what is now a one-lane road.
That afternoon, we begin the 6 hour drive up north to Bambi's grandfather's funeral. He was a WWII vet, serving in the Army Air Force, stationed in Hawaii guarding Japanese POWs. It was my first military honors funeral - the flag folding, 21 gun salute, taps, presenting the flag to the widow - all very emotional.
We got to spend some time with her family, and then drove home Sunday. The snowplows didn't do as much as I was expecting, and I had the driveway reopened in only 45 minutes or so. :sad2:
An hour or two unpacking and cleaning up and I plopped my butt in front of the big screen to watch the Packer game. Carl and I were txting back and forth which made for a pretty entertaining time. It was a hard fought game on both sides that could have gone either way, but in the end the Packers got NFL Championship #13, Carl is down a few fingernails, and I'll be getting some pierogies mailed to me. :woohoo:
So now it's back to work - trying to dig out from almost a week away. I hope to be caught up on my DIS threads before the snow melts. But it will probably be a close race...

I was probably the one and only guy that did not watch the game....I had a packers cake and was on the packers side....But I could not bare watch the game knowing every one was cheering for big Ben...aka the rapist....I know I will have a little hate on me....but that is how I feel....so NO ONE NO ONE ever bring up VICK's back history there is no comparing....I missed the half time and the commercials....but for the looks of it I did not miss much..I sat there with the family and watch Friday night lights,,,,and Blindside.....eating my cheese head cake:rotfl2:....I peeked at the score here and there...but I know what the outcome was going to be.....I hate the stealers...I think more then the cowboys:lmao:....It is probably because my high school Rivalee team was gold and black...But look on the bright side Aaron Rodgers is going to disney world I miss that old saying

Successfully picked the Packers and 2nd in the Dis Dad's Pick 'em league. It was a good season. I hope the NFL will get the CBA done for next year. I saw the trailer for Pirates of Caribbean 4 - looking forward to seeing it.

I have never seen a "good" Super Bowl halftime show....EVER.

I think they should go with a David Copperfield or Chris Angel Magic show...or maybe a Cirque du Solei type show... or BEVERLY a marching band would be better than the PEANUT BUTTER they've put on stage since Michael Jackson showed up in 1993.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: i couldnt of said it better myself! i was thinking, all that money and thats the best thing they could come up with? heck, id rather see two zambonis driving around the field than that.:thumbsup2

(hes a mis guided eagle fan also):lmao: starting to look like the board at the post office around our office.:lmao:

Any of you guys know If coral ref....can seat ten ppl at a table...thank you

chris, the last time i ate at the coral ref. it was what i call foofoo food.:lmao: you got a slab of meat about 4 inches square, 3 green beans and 1 inch ball of potatos. this was about 5 years ago so maybe it changed.

Heh heh.
I've been kinda bummed about the fact that Mrs. AJRitz has seemed pretty resistant to doing another Disney trip for at least another 2-3 years.

I got home today and caught her checking out a travel deal site's Disney offer (it was a nice offer - 45% off at the Grand Floridian). :thumbsup2

:scratchin Maybe I'm making some progress . . .

That was the most terrible thing I have ever seen! But it did motivate my dd16! She wants me to help her make shoes with pink LED 's. Going to be a fun project for us.. Daddy daughter bonding!

Did they even complete one song?:confused3

Tottenham--Everton...in that order...

Yeah, I'm behind on the conversation, stuck in Jackson, MS at the moment...at least until Thursday night, maybe Friday morning

Hope she gives in:goodvibes, 45% off is a good deal, the GF would still put a nice dent in the wallet:scared1:

One of my friends stayed there last year, said it was Awesome:cool1:

It's official - the Black Eyed Peas bombed the half-time show. I'd say that it was the worst one that I've ever seen - as a whole it just seemed sophomoric. I did dig the Tron theme on the outfits, but as a whole, it sucked.

Yah… That was pretty rank. But most of the half-time shows for the big game have been somewhat lacking. Originally they did invite some of the better collage bands to perform. When I was a young’en, we lived in South Fla just north of Miami and when the Orange Bowl would acquire a game, they would sell (fairly cheep) tickets for full dress rehearsals of the planned show. As such, I’ve actually seen a couple of Super bowl half time extravaganzas live, with out ever having the opportunity to see he game itself. Those were very different creatures. Plenty of dancers and bits of mobile scenery, but it was generally anchored by a marching band. Being a fan of marching bands in general, that certainly suited me.

Now… Having said all that, there have been a hand full of fairly good shows (generally ones when the producer hired the right act and then just got out of their way). They actually got on a bit of a roll for several years by bringing in credible pop/rock acts with long histories of performing for stadium crowds. Far and away, the best I’ve seen was “U2” in New Orleans (2002). That one was well executed and rather moving. The best of the rest for me goes like this:

Paul McCartney , Jacksonville (2005)
Rolling Stones, Detroit (2006)
Prince with the Florida A&M Marching 100 (<==which is why I liked this one), Miami (2007)
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Glendale Az (2008)
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band , Tampa (2009)
The Who, Miami (2010)

But then someone decided that they needed to have a Hip-Hop artist, and they chose the wrong one. Too bad…

One more segment and my TR should be complete:yay:

Just in time since I can make ADR's for next trip soon, It looks like I'll have to start a PTR in a couple weeks:eek:
