A smart man would get a bet in place as to whether he can start his before you finish or not and then post the last 2 updates right away.... :rolleyes1

:sad1: Not in my area. This is the ONLY movie DD has asked DW and I to see this year. She didn't even ask us about The Great Fairy Rescue when it came out :confused3

Thats not good. We have 2 this week in Denver. We are choosing the Thursday prescreen. Ill return and report!

Ownage.

I guess that I recently just became a qualifying member of the DDC. My DD was born into this world on October 5th. (I was awoken at 2am with the phrase "Honey...I think my water broke." at which point I realized I was either gonna be really tired at work the next day...or I'm going to be really tired at work the next 18 years!)

Congrats and welcome. This year, with my youngest (6) in school, I stopped being as tired. But, I started going to bed between 9 and 10, so that may have something to do with it.

Yes Dave we are in a one bedroom. This is a first for us and I think I am getting spoiled. So much nicer when dd has to nap.

I have to keep this short because I am feeling kind of light headed. Oh that may be because I just got my hair cut at the Magic Kingdom!:cool1:

We are headed to DTD tonight to meet my wifes cousin for dinner and if I get my way we will go up in the Characters in Flight balloon.

I have not seen Fed yet, I have been scanning the lakes, and character topiaries for a guy dressed in camos.

After 5 hrs at the airport, my flight cancelled and now I am stuck in Orlando for the night. At least they put me up in a hotel.

I thought about going to DTD again, but I think I'll just relax and turn in early.

I need to vent a bit about technology and I figured I'd give my fellow DisDads some good ammo to rib me about. So I used to be a techy guy, did undergrad in computer engineering, used to run my own consulting and hardware services business etc. but apparently I've forgotten more than I ever knew about computers.

This past week I've been futzing with my laptop because for some reason my WiFi would not work. I tried restoring to a previous HW profile, I re-installed drivers, etc. Nothing was working. Finally I broke down and decided the only way I was going to make my laptop functional from a networking perspective was to get an external USB WiFi device. So off to Best Buy I go on Sunday and pick up a handy-dandy little Belkin for $35. Not too bad and I'm functional again.

The kicker is, that as soon as I plug in the USB device, my built in WiFi starts working again. (PEANUT BUTTER Little WiFi device) So now I'm fully functional again, with a bonus little WiFi do-hickey that I no longer need (but won't get rid of because I like the idea of insurance).

I'm just a little Peanut Buttered off about the fact that I spent the better part of my evenings last week trying to back out, and re-install this, that and the other when all I needed to do was buck up for a $35 piece of insurance.

I've also reconciled to the fact that the last operating system I truly knew inside and out was a BSD Unix box circa 1996, and I no longer have any type of working knowledge of Windows registries, etc. Oh well, I suppose there are better things to clutter my mind with, like minor league hockey stats for goons like Scott Ford (#4 - Milwaukee Admirals) who decided to mess up our beautiful ice surface at the Allstate Arena the other night with a few drops of his life juice.

Anyway, thanks for letting me rant... back to you Chuck for our regularly scheduled banter...

Well, I'm back and back on boards. Anybody miss me?:upsidedow

As I read back, it looks like I was not the only Dis Dad there last week. Guess I missed an opportunity for a Dis Dads meet. :confused3 We had a great time but it just isn't fair that when you leave Disney's World you have to come back to the "Real" world.

We did Parks each day and the Halloween party Thursday night. First part of the week, the crowds were nuts. I also think that the crowds at the MNSSHP were pretty bad as well. There seemed to be a lot of overseas visitors this time around. I guess that is due to the dollar being weak now. Good time to visit if you ain't from 'round here.

Hope Chill, Fed, 1Grumpy John, and anybody else that is down there now is having a great time. Wish I were still there... :sad1:

welcome back! glad you had a good trip! (i never know what to say when someone comes back.):confused3

FR, big win for the Badgers last night. Maybe it's your lucky hoodie??? Watched your game on ESPN here in NC when I wasn't on the computer watching my beloved Heels play on ESPN3.
The in-laws were with us (my MIL is a big Badger fan as well) so about every 10 minutes she was bugging me to check the score on my Blackberry. I even got stopped by an usher and asked if I knew the score!

Barry, it might be time to expand that wardrobe of yours... good thing Christmas is coming up. :rotfl2::rotfl2:
Hold that thought. This idea will come up in a few more quotes...:thumbsup2

Barry and Brian It's great to see another dis dads meet. We are forming quite a powerful network we should begin thinking about plans to take over the world!:thumbsup2
Or at least the Tri-State Area!
My little family has successfully infiltrated Saratoga Springs. I asked for Congress Park with a view of DTD and my wish was granted. I am currently looking across the water at the House of Blues, and have a great view of the "Characters in Flight" balloon.
We've stayed in that area before. Love the view. Enjoy your time there!

Barry forgot to mention that my girls felt like they met a celebrity when meeting Evan and Madison. Since both of their birthdays were posted on the scoreboard at the game.

We also saw Megan break out with a rash as soon as Barry came by. I guess that "dairy state" thing is more prevalent than I once thought.

In all seriousness though it was great to meet one of the club and I look forward to future possible meet ups.
It was probably because I carry a piece of cheese in my pocket. Most of us do. You know, just in case you get hungry.

Oh...and they are both looking at the same camera. :thumbsup2

Had you washed that sweatshirt??? middlepat has that look on his face that says...NO you didn't. :lmao::lmao:
See previous comment about cheese in my pocket.

Hello DDC!
I guess that I recently just became a qualifying member of the DDC. My DD was born into this world on October 5th. (I was awoken at 2am with the phrase "Honey...I think my water broke." at which point I realized I was either gonna be really tired at work the next day...or I'm going to be really tired at work the next 18 years!) I've been a disney addict ever since our first trip which was back during the Bicentennial celebrations in '76 (my mom thinks we went in '74, not sure).
Anyways, I read thru the requirements in the first few posts and realized I qualified when I lost count of how many applied...and I was only halfway thru the list. :confused3

Btw, we named our daughter Lorelai Isabella....or "Lilly Belle" for short. :goodvibes
Congrats and welcome to the club!

CRUD
FreezinRafiki: For pete's sake, change your shirt! It's getting a little smelly.
Nah, I've got a good 3 or 4 months before it gets that bad. Besides, I there's still a hunk of cheddar in the pocket. I'd hate to see that get wasted in the washer.

I have not seen Fed yet, I have been scanning the lakes, and character topiaries for a guy dressed in camos.
But trust me, he's seen you.

I've also reconciled to the fact that the last operating system I truly knew inside and out was a BSD Unix box circa 1996, and I no longer have any type of working knowledge of Windows registries, etc.
The problem is that with each new OS, more and more control is being taken away from the user. Which is nice for the people that just want to surf the web and read email. Unfortunately, for anyone with a working knowledge of computers, it renders your entire toolkit useless. So much to learn and keep up with. :sad2:
Oh well, I suppose there are better things to clutter my mind with, like minor league hockey stats for goons like Scott Ford (#4 - Milwaukee Admirals) who decided to mess up our beautiful ice surface at the Allstate Arena the other night with a few drops of his life juice.
Hey Tim - are you still holding that thought? Good. After getting his second 5 minute major penalty for fighting on Saturday night, I leaned over to DW and said "I don't care who this guy is. He's my new hero. I want a black #4 Admirals jersey for Christmas." :thumbsup2

CRUD^(CRUD) {yes, that's CRUD raised to the power of CRUD}

The weekend was great. Friday was DD's 6th birthday. It was an early release day at her school, so we picked her and her friend up at 12:30. We went downtown to a paint-your-own-pottery place then out dinner. Saturday was DS's 4th birthday, and we headed down to Chicago to the Museum of Science and Industry, then up to the SkyDeck at the Willis (Formerly Sears) tower. We capped the night off at the Admirals/Wolves hockey game.
Sunday we took the train into town to avoid the traffic from the Bears game (the stadium is right next to the Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum). Again, we had a great time.
However, when we got home, things started going downhill. We get home to find blood spots in the house and one of our dogs limping horribly. The son of the person watching our dogs left the back gate open and the dog took off. He ran around the neighborhood for 50 minutes before they could corner him and get him back in the house. We noticed the pads on his front paws were worn raw, so we took him to the ER vet. They had several critical patients come in right after us, so we didn't want to wait the 3 or 4 hours for them to do x-rays. They bandaged him up and we took him home. Yesterday I took off of work to take him to our vet. Luckily, we didn't need the x-rays because between the bandages and pain medication he's doing much better.
Then yesterday night was a fund-raiser for DD's school at a local burger & custard stand in town. The plan was to meet DW there when she got done with work. I piled both kids and both in laws into my Grand Cherokee - and it didn't start. It worked fine earlier that day, but now - just clicking. Call DW and tell her to come home instead. I pull the battery and run it to AutoZone, which is only a few blocks away. They put it on their tester - bad. Argh...buy a new battery, put it in, and it starts just fine. Great, of course by now we're running late. So, we all pile in the van and I pull out of the drive way - thup, thup, thup. Flat tire. That's when I screamed. I don't think it was profane, but I honestly don't remember.

46 Days until Disney... 46 Days until Disney... 46 Days until Disney...

hey guys stopping in quick to say hi. Two more weeks and football will be over and hopefully our lives will get back to some sense of order. Nothing new happening, everyone is healthy and happy.

Finally got out golfing last friday in the wind. Golfing in 20-30 mph winds is tough but it was certainly nicer then being int he office. I was going through my golf bag friday morning trying to figure out if I needed anything. I pulled all my golf balls out of the bag and had them laying on my lap while I was cleaning out the trash in the bag. My 4 yo got really excited and ran into the kitchen yelling to my wife. I couldn't understand what he was saying but he was pulling my wife into the living room. He points to my lap and ....you guessed it "Mommy look at daddy's balls!":rotfl2: She rolled her eyes and muttered something not very nice. I was laughing so hard I started to cry. You gotta love the things that kids say.

We are talking about doing a December 2011 Disney trip. We typically go every other year and next year would be our year to go. Unfortunately my MIL decided she wanted to do a big family vacation next year and she rented two houses in Ocean City, MD for a week in June. Hopefully things work out that we can do both.

Have a great week guys! I heard rumor some guys are down there now. Have fun and enjoy yourselves. Fed catch a few for me.
