Well... my 2011 vacation plans have made yet another unexpected change and I'm sure Stopher1 is shaking his head wondering why he ever decided to rent points to me in the first place! :lmao: I must admit I doomed myself when I first mentioned to Christopher that I would not be needing many changes when we first made reservations... famous last words. In any case, we have moved our dates back out to April - May 2011. So for now (crossing fingers here) our itinerary is:

Apr 28 - May1 - Tampa... Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, beach (not necessarily in this order)
May 1 - 5 - BWV

Now I have to wait to make new dining reservations. Hope to get Le Cellier again :rolleyes1

46 Days until Disney... 46 Days until Disney... 46 Days until Disney...

Sounds like an awful experience. Seems like there was some peanut butter missing from the description of the events though. You've just had a string of bad luck lately. Just keep your eye on the prize... 46 Days to Disney!

CRUD^(CRUD) {yes, that's CRUD raised to the power of CRUD}

The weekend was great. Friday was DD's 6th birthday. It was an early release day at her school, so we picked her and her friend up at 12:30. We went downtown to a paint-your-own-pottery place then out dinner. Saturday was DS's 4th birthday, and we headed down to Chicago to the Museum of Science and Industry, then up to the SkyDeck at the Willis (Formerly Sears) tower. We capped the night off at the Admirals/Wolves hockey game.
Sunday we took the train into town to avoid the traffic from the Bears game (the stadium is right next to the Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum). Again, we had a great time.
However, when we got home, things started going downhill. We get home to find blood spots in the house and one of our dogs limping horribly. The son of the person watching our dogs left the back gate open and the dog took off. He ran around the neighborhood for 50 minutes before they could corner him and get him back in the house. We noticed the pads on his front paws were worn raw, so we took him to the ER vet. They had several critical patients come in right after us, so we didn't want to wait the 3 or 4 hours for them to do x-rays. They bandaged him up and we took him home. Yesterday I took off of work to take him to our vet. Luckily, we didn't need the x-rays because between the bandages and pain medication he's doing much better.
Then yesterday night was a fund-raiser for DD's school at a local burger & custard stand in town. The plan was to meet DW there when she got done with work. I piled both kids and both in laws into my Grand Cherokee - and it didn't start. It worked fine earlier that day, but now - just clicking. Call DW and tell her to come home instead. I pull the battery and run it to AutoZone, which is only a few blocks away. They put it on their tester - bad. Argh...buy a new battery, put it in, and it starts just fine. Great, of course by now we're running late. So, we all pile in the van and I pull out of the drive way - thup, thup, thup. Flat tire. That's when I screamed. I don't think it was profane, but I honestly don't remember.

46 Days until Disney... 46 Days until Disney... 46 Days until Disney...

 46 days,46 days,46 days. you deserve a great big peanut butter for that!:thumbsup2

Holy cow. This sounds like the plot of a National Lampoon movie. "Worse! How could it get any worse?! We're at the threshold of hell!"

Seriously, this feels like it's been one domino falling after another. I hope things turn around, and soon. :goodvibes

hey guys stopping in quick to say hi. Two more weeks and football will be over and hopefully our lives will get back to some sense of order. Nothing new happening, everyone is healthy and happy.

Finally got out golfing last friday in the wind. Golfing in 20-30 mph winds is tough but it was certainly nicer then being int he office. I was going through my golf bag friday morning trying to figure out if I needed anything. I pulled all my golf balls out of the bag and had them laying on my lap while I was cleaning out the trash in the bag. My 4 yo got really excited and ran into the kitchen yelling to my wife. I couldn't understand what he was saying but he was pulling my wife into the living room. He points to my lap and ....you guessed it "Mommy look at daddy's balls!":rotfl2: She rolled her eyes and muttered something not very nice. I was laughing so hard I started to cry. You gotta love the things that kids say.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Sounds like you were golfing in the same wind as I was. If I closed my eyes, I felt like we were in the British Open. Then I opened my eyes again and saw Delaware, which is almost as spectacular as Scotland.

Maybe that's why we haven't seen stopher1 around much lately...he's avoiding you! :rotfl2:

Just checked our dates on the WDW crowd calendar. For Dec 11th -18th, 6-1-3-1-5-1-5-4. LOOKS LIKE ITS ALL MINE!!!! The crowd is low the entire time we are there from what it looks like. Very exciting!!!

I need to vent a bit about technology and I figured I'd give my fellow DisDads some good ammo to rib me about. So I used to be a techy guy, did undergrad in computer engineering, used to run my own consulting and hardware services business etc. but apparently I've forgotten more than I ever knew about computers.

This past week I've been futzing with my laptop because for some reason my WiFi would not work. I tried restoring to a previous HW profile, I re-installed drivers, etc. Nothing was working. Finally I broke down and decided the only way I was going to make my laptop functional from a networking perspective was to get an external USB WiFi device. So off to Best Buy I go on Sunday and pick up a handy-dandy little Belkin for $35. Not too bad and I'm functional again.

The kicker is, that as soon as I plug in the USB device, my built in WiFi starts working again. (PEANUT BUTTER Little WiFi device) So now I'm fully functional again, with a bonus little WiFi do-hickey that I no longer need (but won't get rid of because I like the idea of insurance).

I'm just a little Peanut Buttered off about the fact that I spent the better part of my evenings last week trying to back out, and re-install this, that and the other when all I needed to do was buck up for a $35 piece of insurance.

I've also reconciled to the fact that the last operating system I truly knew inside and out was a BSD Unix box circa 1996, and I no longer have any type of working knowledge of Windows registries, etc. Oh well, I suppose there are better things to clutter my mind with, like minor league hockey stats for goons like Scott Ford (#4 - Milwaukee Admirals) who decided to mess up our beautiful ice surface at the Allstate Arena the other night with a few drops of his life juice.

Anyway, thanks for letting me rant... back to you Chuck for our regularly scheduled banter...

I have a pretty good techy background and had a very similar experience. I couldnt connect, troubleshot it myself, called my ISP and they troubleshot it, did a restart point a week from that date thinking the kids might of downloaded something bad, finally notice that there was a little slider switch on the side of the laptop...slid it up AND LO AND BEHOLD I HAD PEANUT BUTTERING INTERNET AGAIN!!

Maybe you just got all the BAD happenings out of your system all at once... 46 days huh? Man, it is coming quickly now! :wizard:

Week 6 is in the books and here are the Standings:

Sport Goofy
The Mouse of Pain 6-0-0
Jasmine's Necklace 4-2-0
Matterhorn Yodelers 4-2-0
Passamaquody Dragons 2-4-0
Main Street Moose 2-4-0
Taxidermy Tech 2-4-0
Grumpy Old Men 1-5-0

Touchdown Mickey
Le Cellier Dwellers 4-2-0
Test Track Dummies 4-2-0
Duckburg Ducks 3-3-0
Thunder Mtn Locos 3-3-0
Figment Cowboys 3-3-0
Kerchak's Tribe 2-4-0
Small World Singers 2-4-0

The Touchdown Mickey division is still wide open as only 2 games separate all 7 teams. Three teams have taken hold of the Sport Goofy division, but everyone still needs to keep an eye on the Passamaquoddy Dragons who started off slow, but have put together some monster games in the past few weeks. I think they have the top two weekly scores this season. This week, they sure made the Grumpy Old Men even grumpier with a 169.25-57.90 thrashing. They are charging like a... well, like a fire-breathing dragon.

The rest of the games were very close this week. In the marquee matchup, The Duckburg Ducks lost a close one to Le Cellier Dwellers which put the fans of the Canadian steakhouse into a first place tie with the Test Track Dummies. As always, remember Labatts Blue and test driving cars simply do not mix. Anyway, that division is still up for grabs.

Week 7 is basically the midpoint in the Fantasy Football season and we have some intriguing matchups, especially in the Touchdown Mickey Division where some teams hope to break up the logjam.

The games between the Test Track Dummies/Kerchak's Tribe, Duckburg Ducks/Thunder Mtn Locos and Le Cellier Dwellers/Figment Cowboys should all be exciting and will hopefully clear things up a bit. More likely, they will just jumble things up further and hopefully set up an exciting run to the playoffs.

In the Sport Goofy Division, the Mouse of Pain remains undefeated at 6-0 despite a close call from Taxidermy Tech. This week, they face the 1-5 Grumpy Old Men who will undoubtedly be even grumpier following last week's loss. The 4-2 teams in the division, Jasmine's Necklace and Matterhorn Yodelers, will each face a 2-4 team - the Passmaquoddy Dragons and Taxidermy Tech, respectively. This is a real chance for these teams to create further separation. Again, beware the Dragons who can beat anybody at anytime with their high-scoring team. Unfortunately, they sometimes disappear at the wrong time - I wonder why. Jasmine's Necklace will do their best to distract Taxidermy Tech with their shiny charms and wily ways. Unfortunately, it's hard to distract a stuffed animal.

Finally, the last game of week 7 is a cross-division matchup between the 2-4 Small World Singers and the 2-4 Main Street Moose. The winner of this game moves to 3-4 while the loser is forced to ride It's a Small World and watch the Main Street Parade non-stop until next week when their brain will be officially classified as Dole Whip.

Good luck to all.

Hello gents!

Been a while since I've been here. Fantasy football takes up most of my "goof off at work" time so I haven't kept up with much of the news around the DDC (although I noticed that someone may have invented a new definition for "Peanut Butter"), so let me get caught up by saying... CRUD!!.

Not much going on with me. My unexpected business trip to Orlando was a non-event. No complimentary transportation to Disney from my resort. What's up with that!? The only good thing was that at the reception after the business meeting I got carded by a bartender- that was kinda cool. Also just finished up a long weekend in Pinehurst, NC playing golf with some buddies. Weather= beautiful, beer = cold, scores = horrible, but it was fun.

And by the way, my daughter's favorite kid at school is the son of the retired minor league hockey enforcer. He's a good kid.

As I read back, it looks like I was not the only Dis Dad there last week. Guess I missed an opportunity for a Dis Dads meet. :confused3 We had a great time but it just isn't fair that when you leave Disney's World you have to come back to the "Real" world.

I was there last week. Even did a in-trip report on page #&$. We did the MNSSHP on Tuesday. It was great!

Now I have to wait to make new dining reservations. Hope to get Le Cellier again :rolleyes1

Well, not to start anything, but then again ... :stir:

While the Fillet was excellent at Le Cellier on Thursday, I think the Prime Rib at Turf Club is better. Now, the pretzel bread has no match. The chocolate mousse was better than any desert I had on the menu at Turf Club, but if you count a boat ride to DTD and ice cream at Ghiradelli's, then I give that a draw.

I am back from the House of Mouse and had a great time. We had a truely magical moment with a character meet and greet.

First let me give you some background, our son does not walk without a walker yet. He can take about 5 independant steps and then he crawls and he does not talk yet. We still believe both are coming just slower then "normal".

Now back to the original program
In Toontown at the Judges Tent, we saw Mickey and Minnie. Well I ask Enzo who Mickey was and he did the sign for Mickey (which is making C's with both hands and placing them on your head to look like Mickey's ears with your finger and thumb tips touching your head.) Mickey saw him doing that while he was with the other kid and started signing with my son. Well after the other kid left Minnie also started signing Friend, I love you and play with our son. My wife did not want the walker in the picture, so when we got through with all of our photos Minnie walks over to the walker and lets us know she wants a picture with just the three of them and Enzo on his walker. My wife could not stop crying for joy for about 15 minutes after this. It even brought some tears to my eyes.

We are working on a trip report and when it is done I will put up the link.

But now you can relive it all by doing a Trip Report!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

No bill. All paid for before the trip began!!!

Hmm, Trip report. Not sure that anyone would care. I just don't have the right material compared to the awesome trip reports that I read here.
  • Stayed off site, so no cool Disney room theme...
  • Only ate one TS restaurant and was too hungry to get food porn...
  • No cheese balls were hurled during the making of the trip...
  • Can't think of enough movie quotes...
  • Our shirts weren't hideous enough...
  • Not sure that I could stretch out a Trip Report for a year until my next trip...

I'm sure that I can think up a few more excuses, but there is that Man Law thing. Hmmm.

That is truly a Magical Moment!!!:wizard: As I read that I got some dust in my eyes here! I guess wife must be slcking in the housework today!
