On another subject... I hadn't been very interested in taking any Disney cruises, but for some reason I thought I'd look into a cruise on the Dream for next year. I just noticed you cannot book a sea/land package through Disney's web site for cruises on the Dream. I found that to be very odd. Wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the ship hasn't sailed yet?

Hummm… That is odd. On the other hand, most of the veteran cruisers just put together their own Land-Sea package. Just book where you want to stay and then either add on Disney Transportation or reserve a cab or limo. I’ve done it both ways and it is a little bit cheaper if you do it yourself.

(Of course: “past performance is not a reliable indicator of future returns” :lmao:)

BTW guys, the post I linked was made by Maroo, who came by to give us some background info when we were doing the GKTW fundraiser here on the DDC. I hope you'll check out this sad and touching story.

Quite the story. How can those of us outside the area help out?

Hello Dad's!!! My name is Mark and Im an obsessed WDW dad as well! We have 3 kids ds Christian 11yo, DD Libby 8yo, and the youngest DS Robin 5yo. We have gone every year for the past 5 years. We will be at WDW in December for MVMCP, my DS's birthday and our 11th Aniversary. This is an incredible thread. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Thanks!

Welcome to out little hampster cage. Just pick a wheel and start running! :rotfl:

sad day today in baseball today. the master mind behind the greatest baseball franchise , mr. george steinbrenner has passed away. r.i.p mr. steinbrenner.

Sad to here. One less character in a world that despratly needs more characters.

And, oh, yeah - I've already posted something over on DISDad's...for all you trivia junkies that have just been deprived of my fascinating little tidbits.

Yah!! New Trivia!!! :yay: Welcome back. :goodvibes

They gave their lives to help enrich ours. We were all standing there with no noise. You only heard the sighs, the crying. THAT'S WHEN IT HAPPENED... being the space program fan that my mother is... she said out loud..... "THERE SHOULD BE MORE OF THOSE B.......s UP THERE......".

You need to start the alcohol via IV drip, from the cool beer hats, and start drinkin as well.:drinking1

I should think so! We've spent some time at that diner ourselves. My Dad used to go to Howard's almost every morning for breakfast. Now, we usually have breakfast at the Tic-Toc on Saturday mornings and any holidays and vacation days when we're not traveling.

That is fantastic news. Best of luck that the treatments go smoothly.

I agree with you Clearscreen. I use the rooms to sleep, shower, hold our stuff that's it. Most of the time the view does not matter. :cool1: I can not justify spending all that cash just for a view that we won't see that much. I am there for the parks. BUT on the other hand the DW is getting into views lately.... I hope this doesn't cost me in the future. :)

I'm with you. We got a room with a Deluxe Ocean View for our Honeymoon in Hawaii. It was great. It was our Honeymoon. So we splurged. We looked out a few times when we got there. We marveled at how beautiful the view was. I think we had breakfast on the lanai once.

Instead, we were usually out and about the rest of the time and felt like the view was wasted on us. We saw the same or more spectacular views once we left the room. Ever since then, we'll get a room with a view if the cost is minimal. Otherwise, we are hardly ever in the room to enjoy it. I don't need a view to sleep, get ready in the morning, bathe the kids, etc. My wife is the same way. We don't mind spending the money, we just don't want to waste it. We'd much rather spend the "view" money on a nice dinner or souvenirs for the kids.

Yes, it is quite a sad story! My heart goes out to both families Maroo mentions. I have been talking to her mostly about planning and organizing the trip. I know they are trying to raise the funds. I will have to ask Maroo where people can contribute to the fundraiser if they want to. I'm guessing their church has something set up, but I'm not sure so I will verify and let everyone know.
Welcome to out little hampster cage. Just pick a wheel and start running! :rotfl:
Okay, that sounds too much like a job! :lmao:
Hey guys!

Well I FINALLY got my laptop back after 2 weeks! Ugh. Dumb. IT. Department. It definitely goes to show my wife that we DO need 2 computers in our house. Now I'm just hoping that she'll run with all of those hints I've been dropping, and consider getting me one for my birthday. ;)
Welcome back Christopher! Good luck with that hint thing!

(nerd alert! Nerd alert!) we have 4 computers in the house. 5 if you count this silly iPad that I have every 3 weeks from work (we use it in our on call rotation for IT system support. DW and I would be at each others throats if we had to wait to use Facebook or the dis. :surfweb:

Hi! :wave2:

Good to have you back, Christopher!

Thanks Mark. It's good to be back - though I must say with each passing day I was wondering if I ever would make it back.

Welcome back Christopher! Good luck with that hint thing!

Ummm yeah - I'm not holding my breath, but it sure would be nice. It's a milestone year this time around, and we're not going anywhere, and she did throw me a great big party 10 years ago for the last milestone one - so hopefully she'll do SOMETHING.

Using my best IAGO voice....now there's a big surprise. :rotfl:

Actually we do have 2 in the house now, but when we moved the "old", well older one, into the boys room for them to use for school work and some gaming, I stripped out the modem and any way possible to be online. There's just something about pre-teens (one who's a teen) being way upstairs behind closed doors doing who knows what on the computer. So our internet connected machine is right in the middle, front and center, of our kitchen. And even they don't really like gaming on it anymore since "it's so slow" they say. But they will use it for school work and making their little movies & animations. And, I suppose, if I'd really wanted to go spend the $35 bucks I could have purchased a keyboard for our Wii and accessed it that way...but I didn't want to. It wasn't THAT much of a situation. So yeah, I'd rather my DW go out and spend several hundred to get us (me) a laptop of our own. That way I won't feel bad when something happens again to my work machine, as it's bound to happen at some point, I'm sure. I drag this thing all over the country with me, and deep into the forest for Summer Camp each year. It's definitely well used. Unfortunately this year it died while I was AT Summer Camp, so work wasn't all that thrilled with me and yeah, took their time fixing it. Oh well - it's back, and I can slowly get back into the groove of my former routine.

Never again do I want to be gone for a week of vacation just to come back to work and have the stupid thing be completely dead. Gone. Kaputz. And dividing my time between working at home on our computer (and thereby keeping the other 4 off of it all day long - which meant I DIDN'T get it in the evening or at night AT ALL... and using a lousy loaner that couldn't be hooked up to my scanners, printers, etc ... and using my DROID, though nice, is not the best keyboard in the world for posting to the boards with - just made for a crappy couple of weeks. So I pretty much (though not 100%) swore off almost all of my online activity for the duration. Big deep sigh - but it's good to be back now. :) ANYWAY - yeah, it's nice to be back, though I sure do have a lot of reading and skimming to do to get caught up.

TO all those who've joined this crazy crew in the past 3 1/2 weeks - welcome! You've joined a great group of guys.

I'll be back later this evening or in the morning with more. And, oh, yeah - I've already posted something over on DISDad's...for all you trivia junkies that have just been deprived of my fascinating little tidbits.

Hi Stopher.

THanks!!

I think to upgrade to an MK view was $65-75 more per night. That would have been on top of the $50 more per night to upgrade to the tower with a Bay Lake View from the Garden Wing. We are not people who spend much time in our room and we are definitely going to watch the fireworks from other locations - California Grill, Narcoossee's, Main Street, etc., so we just could not justify (rationalize?) the MK view. Maybe we'll change our minds after the trip. There is always next year!

My wife and I had a MK view before and we were not there very often, but the castle is lit all night long so we slept with the curtains open. It was great to wake up in the middle of the night and it was right there. :thumbsup2

You would be crazy not to keep her!!!!:lmao:

Chris... welcome back! :wave2:

I should welcome myself back. I don't think I can skim over all the pages since I've been off. So I will just jump in here. I'm still trying to wrap up my TR and I need to start another PTR. It is still looking like we will be in WDW Dec.1-7 but Make A Wish will not give us solid dates till OCTOBER!!!!!! UGH! :sad2:

Welcome to all the new Dad's over the last (cough!) 2 months.

Was just talking to my DW who is at WDW right now, see sounded alittle depressed so I asked what's wrong:confused3 Well I finally got a little credit for my extreme commando style planning:lmao: Most of my cons on this trip have pretty much showed themselves:scared1:From the heat & humidity to the billions of Brazilions.

Today they went to Epcot first then to HS around 3. Well I wasn't too surprised to hear that FP's for TS3 were sold out with a 110min wait:scared1:,they wanted to see Fantazmic 9pm show they got there at 8 allready full, people already in a tent area for 10:30 show:scared1:

She told me that my DS kept saying, This no good need Dad here:goodvibes. So far the things they did that I said they should do have gone well:cool1: I haven't goten a true figure yet of how many people are in this trip, but I figure it is around 16:scared1:

I'm hope they will all get it together soon and have a good time:goodvibes , she said tonight that I was incharge of any planning for BG next week & WDW Dec trip:woohoo: I was planning that anyway:lmao:

So the moral of the story is always have a plan, check it twice, then add a backup & work together as a team:yay:

Expensive diners, iron (and board), careful Dave, I think she's on the verge of getting spoiled:lmao: Glad to hear the pendulum is starting to swing the other way!

Completely unrelated but I still remember growing up when my mom asked my dad for a new pot and pan set. His reply was "Do you really think this will improve the quality of the food?":scared1:

Sorry to hear they are running into some snags but on the other hand its nice to be able to rationalize why some of us seem a little overboard on the planning side of our trips.

Mary(Maroo) sent me the info for those who are interested in contributing. I sent her a PM to ask if it was okay to post that much info but haven't heard back on it yet. In the meantime, if you will send me or maroo a PM, you can get the info that way until I hear back from her.

There are also many other ways people can help besides monetarily, including if you have suggestions/ideas for ways to make special requests to Disney, know of any special discounts, etc to make this trip more cost effective or special for this family, or even so it runs more smoothly for a family with special needs like this.

Yeah, they always give us crap for all the planning, and normally it was a waste of time because when you all get there, the lines are short, the crowds aren't as bad as you said, etc. No credit for it being that way BECAUSE of all the planning and preparation. :rolleyes1 So satisfying when they give you some cred, and to actually get "permission" to do what you already enjoy......PRICELESS! :thumbsup2
