I've started a rough draft for events for Dec trip, I am stumped at one of them maybe one of you guys might know.

On a day that a park has EMH in the am, do they have a rope drop:confused3, and if they do is it at the normal opening time or EMH time :confused3

You know what, I'm not sure on that. I KNOW they do a rope drop at EMH opening, but since we were in the park already, I don't know if they do another, or they just make people wait at the turnstiles until regular opening if they don't "deserve" EMH. When we were in MK, only certain parts of the park were open at the EMH RD time. That was Tomorrowland and Fantasyland.

There were ropes at the bridge going to AL and FL and they did an additional RD there at regular park opening, although they didn't really drop the rope. The CMs carried it down the street so there was an "orderly stampede" into those areas. At different times, some of the CMs running certain rides headed off towards those rides (followed the CMs to BTMRR) and you follow them right up the queue and into the ride.

Day 4 of the DC adventure

Today was mostly about the Capitol building. My DSIL actually contacted her House Rep and was able to get us a guided tour that bypassed the lines and hassle that most folks go through to see the Capitol. We went directly to the Reps office, and one of her interns took us and one other family (8 people rather then 50) around the entire complex (including the maze of underground tunnels that keep you off the streets, out of the heat, and at the head of the line). We couldn’t see the current Senate Chamber, but we did sit in the Gallery of the House for a little while. The shear amount of history and architecture stuffed into this one space make it worth seeing if you can.

Here’s a few less obvious pics from the interior:

A bit of the doom in the Old House Chamber (now called Statuary Hall)

The clock over the door in the Old House that was to remind the Reps that time was fleeting and that they needed to get on with it (Apparently, they no more headed that warning in the past then they do today.

I love visiting DC...it's a looong walk between those monuments though....I once had to walk the whole mall in the middle of August...in a suit...with an MP5 under my coat, along with pistol, radio, cuffs, etc....

The tourists felt very sorry for us...:guilty:

It is a serously long hike from one spot to the next (especially on the western side of the mall), but I get to dress like an ugly tourist (although packing a side arm would be useful… unacceptable, but useful)

I'll trade you a Hanah Montana for one:cool2:

Here's a video that hits a little close to home, this thing could be the DisDad recruitment video:

Too funny

commando, on days of am emh, theres are two "rope drops". we always are at the am emhs and at 9am you can hear the greating music etc.. going on in the mk. epcot and what i call mgm, they do the same thing.

The restaurant is going very well, the invitation is still open to all the Dis Dads who might find themselves in the area.

Good to hear from you Daddy-O! What was the name/location of your restaurant again? I'm too lazy to search through the old thread. :sad2:

I'm a Super Pass holder at Dollywood and Splash Country. :thumbsup2

We don't do season passes yet, but we frequent Holiday World in Santa Clause, IN. Their water park, Splashin Safari, can rival Disney's Typhoon Lagoon - waves not quite as big, but they have 2 wave pools and some really cool slides - but not as many or as big as at Blizzard Beach. But, they do free drinks as well. But, they still can't beat WDW.

Oh, and How 'bout that USA Soccer Team!!!

Great highlights, but wish the uS games were on when I could watch them live. I do like NFL, but I played soccer in high school and coach my dds U8G teams, so there have been some good matches.

I'm ready to move now. Anybody willing to loan me the money? I have some body parts I can sell in the future when I am no longer using them.

We've done Dollywood season passes several times...but this is the first time we've ever done a "Super" Pass which also gets you into the Water Park Splash Country. When we saw it was only $49 bucks this year to add the water park...(which cost $45 for a single day) we'd be stupid not to get it...I'm glad we did...I love that Water park.

They have a mug you can buy and get free refills all season at the waterpark.

Dollywood has some cool coaster:
Tennessee Tornado...short but thrilling tripple loop coaster...nothing comes to mind at Disney to compare it too.
Thunderhead...Blazing Fast Wooden Coaster...better than BTM. (Iknow BTM is not wodden.)
Mystery Mine...very interesting ride with 95° drops...though it's only one really big drop at the end...the :scared1: factor is allot worse than ToT..

Yeah, that's a good price. We went to Dollywood about 10 years ago before the children were born. I think we did some rollercoasters, but honestly, I can't remember what webpage I looked at 5 minutes ago anymore. We did not do the waterpark there. At Holiday World, they have a few coasters - raven, legend, and another real tall one, but their waterpark is really the best. They just do throw away cups (free drinks), so you don't have to keep up with them or store them in lockers.

My biggest regret from our trip to Pigeon Forge was not doing Dollywood. We had decided prior to the trip (after doing some pricing) that we'd skip DW until the boys got older (ages 6 and 3 now). We were concerned that there wouldn't be enough for them to do at the park.

We do plan on making a return trip to the Smoky Mountains in the future (thinking we may do a mountains/beach/Disney rotation), so we'll do Dollywood and Splash Country the next time around.

4 UK players went in the top 18 in the NBA draft, 2 in the top 5 (Wall, Cousins). Don't know if I should cheer UK for having 4 NBA players or boo them for not winning a championship with 4 NBA players? But, we will re-tool and make a run at it again this year. Thank goodness we don't worry about anything silly like graduation rate, student learning, etc. popcorn::

I think Perry Stevenson was on pace to graduate, so that's one. :rotfl:

I covered Perry in high school, he was a very nice kid. I remember when he was in sixth grade, there was literally a recruiting war going on in our area between middle school coaches to get him on their team.

Need a little Dad feedback on this one! After reviewing Dec trip events, the Grand Marrshalls in a parade would be the hardest to pull off.

Now what I was thinking was to reach out to the Disboard family, and go on a fact findung mission, by starting a thread asking for advice on the subject, of course with a option of PMing me if they are not comfortable posting it (since I know for a fact CM's visit and are members of the Disboards).

Knowing is half the battle, and if we could pull this one off it would be cherished lifetime memory for all there.

What do you think, might work:confused3

We’ll… We’ve survived another day of tip-towing through the monuments. We got into the National Archive. I knew we’d see the major documents that everyone talks about, but I was rather surprised by the amount of other documents, recordings and videos that were also on display. It was a lot like the Smithsonian in that you couldn’t see it all in the amount of time you originally allotted. After that we hit the Natural History Museum, and… (yah, this goes on a lot like a broken record… Why don’t I just skip all this stuff a skip straight to the pics, what say?)

First: the Declaration, Constitution and Bill of Rights.
(Disclaimer: These may be hard to see considering that the camera had to stay in my pocket or I’d have been wrestled to the floor by about seventeen guards.)

The “Vampire Antelope” (rarely seen during daylight hours)

The highly prized “HiddenMicky-anite”

The “DoleWhip-saurus”

And finally: “The End” (“Just what the $@#%!! do you think you’re looking at bub?”)
DC55.jpg

Sorry ‘bout that… I was just checking to see if you’ll are paying attention. :rolleyes1

The only concern I would have about posting it in a thread would be other people taking the info and hassling someone in guest services and ruining it for everyone.

If you want I can contact guest services tomorrow and see if I can get any info on what might be available to us.

:thumbsup2 If you have the time to contact them go for it, I would say to make sure to tell them it is a group with family members. If you can not get any info, then we would have to figure something else out.

I would love to see this happen for all of us:woohoo:

I finally got my Toy Story 3 review posted over at the clubhouse (http://www.disdads.com). I think I'm going to try and get the few photos I have on my phone from the Nick Universe visit dumped to a computer later tonight, and see if I can get that mini-trip report posted over the weekend too.

I've started using my mostly-dormant Twitter account again over the last couple of days. Are there any other DISDads here using Twitter? Should we start a list of Twitter names? I'm AJRitz there, just like I am here.
