I heard on the radio today a news story that does'nt make too much sense. It seems there is a new application they can put in cell phones that will disable them over a certain speed of movement (except 911 of course). They reported it as something for parents with driving teens, to keep them off the phone while driving.

I don't know about other states but NJ & NY has a ban on using cell phones while driving (NJ I think is $200 fine) why don't they make it mandatory for all cell phones, not just teens:confused3. It would cut down on alot of choas and accidents.:confused3

I know modern technology has made golf course architects scramble to find new hazards to challenge golfers, but this is a little over the top:

I can't find the green in 4 on a par 3. I think I should steer clear of this course.

California has a law against cell phones & driving, according to the reputible news source called TMZ. I'm hoping for a texting ban here in MO so I stop doing it. I just think it needs to be an across-the-board ban, not just teens. Grownup texters/phone users are bad drivers too! :scared1:

And, I've decided to start exercising, so when I turn 50, I can still compete in sports against all my kids.

The texting bans are silly.
It's ALREADY ILLEGAL in every jurisdiction. It's called "inattentive driving".
And the real problem is that all of this talk about "banning texting" creates the false impression that it's OK to text while driving if there isn't a specific "no texting" law.

Starting the exercise thing is rough when you're older, all I can say is take it slow. Couch to 5K (C25K) is a pretty cool program that gradually gets you up to running a 5k over the course of a few months.

The even more frustrating thing is that if they did pass a law about this it wouldn't get enforced. The only person who wins is the career pollitician who pushed it through just to be able to say they are keeping us safe. I'm not knocking the police, it has to be frustrating in societies current mentallity of fight every ticket regardless of if you were blaitently guilty or not.

They should treat cell phones while driving like they did radar detectors when I was growing up in Ontario; they couldn't stop you from buying one, but if you were caught using one you had two choices, $200 ticket, or let the cop run over it with the cruiser.

OK, Friday Poll time since I'm heading down in less than 3 weeks and won't be on the dining plan.

What is your favorite "Not Disney" place to eat? Looking for Sit down, Pizza place, Take away, pretty much anything not too far from the parks.

That is mostly true, except the actual law is 'hands-free", you can still use your phone, but you must be hands-free. My company is based in CA, and once that law went into effect about 18 months ago, it became company-policy as well. Since we are a nationwide company, it of course means anywhere we go we must be hands-free. But it also means we must pull over or find a safe place to stop if we need to take notes or look something up for a customer while on a call.

Crossroads Village over across SR 535, near the Downtown Disney/Hotel Plaza entrance to WDW has Sweet Tomatos (a great buffet/salad buffet restaurant), as well as TGI Fridays, Pizza Uno, Taco Bell, McD's, Perkins, some sort of a wings place I believe, and just around the corner from it is the Olive Garden. It also has the Goodings grocery store if you need to pick anything up, but they are expensive. The shopping plaza was originally built by Disney, as it was originally the very northeast corner of the property, and you can tell just by the look & feel of it. When they sold it, they demanded that they landscaping be kept up to Disney standards. If you have your car with you, just hop onto Hotel Plaza Blvd (at the corner of DTD, by OUAT), and keep driving. When you get to the light at 535, just go straight and there you are. It's physically between I-4 and the state road. And if you turn right onto the SR and pass under the interstate, you'll also find Chick-Fil-A and a steak house, I can't recall which one, if it's Lone Star or another brand.

On a side note, I've now played 4 rounds of golf in Florida and haven't seen a single alligator on the course. I'll probably play one or two more rounds in December, and by golly I'm going to see a gator if I have to tie a dead chicken to my golf bag.

Well, maybe to my father-in-law's golf bag.

This guys dog barks all night and poops on my lawn.
Wait, I'm confused. Is it the dog or the guy who's been pooping on your lawn?

So, we leave in 7 days for our annual trip to the world. I am so excited and cannot hardly stand myself. My wife is finishing up our appliqued shirts again for this year. She has made an awesome one that I will share pictures of when we get back. It has Phenias on it with a thought bubble saying, "Mickey, I know what we are gonna do today!" On each shirt is a different blueprint, one of Castle, one of Tree, one of Ball, one of Hat. They turned out awesome. Yes, we are the crazy family who wears matching shirts each day. I am amazed at how many cast members comment on them. Lucky to have a wife who sews. She doesn't do iron on transfers. All designed by her!!! Loving my wifey!!!

Once again, Christopher, you are a veritable fount of information. You never fail to amaze!

There's a Cheesecake Factory in the Millenia Mall a few miles north of WDW. I know, it's totally out of character for me to know where to get high-cholesterol and fat-laden dessert foods, but there you have it.

:thumbsup2 Obviously, you just need to hit more balls in the water. I recommend taking the balls from FIL's bag as well.

Hey Randy

We always make at least one trip (last year twice) to Flipper's Pizza in the shopping center at CRossroads just outside the gates. We have eaten there and had it delivered both. Good food reasonalbe price...option number 2 is on Disney property but is another good option at a reasonalbe price...Earl of Sandwich over at Downtown Disney!

Hey Fellas,

Just thought I would jump in here and say hi. things have been crazy, funny how even on my day off I still have restaurant things to do.:headache:

Honestly, I would not trade it for the world. No regrets at all.

Welcome to all the new dads, glad to see everyone is keeping this place going.

Fed good luck with everything, I hope all goes well. To all those traveling soon or are in the world right now, I hope you have or are having a great time.

To all those TR pirates out there, I am hoping to have an update this weekend. :hippie::hippie:

Talk to you all soon.:thumbsup2

Our son arrived home for a few days and brought us some memorabilia from the Air Show last weekend. Here we are with the Blue Angels pilots. Our son is in his regular Navy fatigues.
