My name is Adam and we are new DVC members at OKW. My wife and I went to WDW on our honeymoon and have been hooked ever since!

We live in Tennessee where I am a pastor. I also teach online and write.

We have an eight month old little girl who went to WDW last month. She absolutely LOVED it. Her favorite character is Donald Duck. LOL

We bought the DVC membership with a five year payment plan so our membership will be paid for before our baby starts school.

Thanks for this forum. I look forward to talking to other Disney Dads.

Welcome aboard Adam...hope you enjoy the time and friendship here as much as the rest of us do!

So a new family moved in real close to our house a while back. They've been here a while, but I only recently realized that the dad was the enforcer on Richmond's old minor league hockey team! :worship: He also played up in New York for a while. I think he set the league record for penalty minutes back in the day. Anyway, his wife and kids came over to our garage sale (to fund the December trip, of course) and she told me some of his fights were on youtube. I watched them. Holy smokes! What a crazy job this guy had! I gotta meet this guy. Fortunately, he seems cool - always out there playing with his kids. For what it's worth, he's Canadian:thumbsup2.

And now for a Disney trip question.
I haven't been to the parks in ages and have a question about how the tickets work. For our week-long trip in December, we'll probably go to the parks on 5 or 6 days. I'm sure we'll make a return trip in the future, but it probably won't be within a year of this trip (so AP is out). Should I buy a 10-day pass and then purchase the no expiration option on the unused days at the end of the trip? Then I'd have passes for a few days already paid for when I go on my next trip. Am I understanding the no exp option right? Will this work? Obviously, I'm trying to make my money stretch as far as possible. Someone help me out here.. What's wrong with that plan?

WOW - 16 pages already! Glad to be in the new digs - thanks Don for setting it up as always............

FED!!! we thought you fell in!!!! :thumbsup2 welcome back!!
I heard he was trying to get information as to the whereabouts of the other fish from the first bass he caught. Turns out, fish actually like to be water-boarded. Who knew? :confused3

As far as I know, this will work. But I don't know if you can buy the no expiration feature later, or if you have to do it when you purchase the tickets. Also, I'm not sure how it works if you buy a ticket for a child under 9 and she turns 10 before you go back - when she would need an adult ticket. Other than that, "no expiration" means "no expiration". Use them whenever you go back.
If no one else around here can answer, post on the Theme Parks board. They get a lot of ticket questions over there.

Welcome back, you did catch some over 3 pounds right?:confused3 Just wanted to make sure we weren't lured into some fisherman double talk:)

Welcome Adam, glad you found us!

I knew that might be coming...and YES!!!! Though I missed a GIANT!! Couldn't get her turned before she broke me off :lmao::lmao:<<now thinking that might sound inappropriate--but it's BASS FISHIN' Redneck Speak, and not plain normal, Queen's English>>:scared:

We usually will use the link that the mousesavers newsletter sends out on the 15th of each month to the undercover tourist ticket discount. We have bought the 10 park hopper no expiration tickets. Traveling with the kids we usually will take a pool/rest day after a full park day so we will only use about 3 or 4 days of a ticket. However, by buying the 10 no experiation tickets we dont need to worry about tickets except for only every few years and miss some of the price increases. I was told that when you guy a child ticket and it does not expire before the child become the age of regualr admission that you can have it converted to a regular price ticket . I have not had to do this yet and dont know if there is a fee for that or not.

Alright guys, I need some advice from those of you that have done a Disney Cruise. We're looking at a 4 day, because I've heard the 3s are just too short. What I need assistance on is the room. We will probably be trading DVC points for the cruise, but we don't want to break the bank there, either. How much time do you really spend in the room? Is an inside stateroom good enough if all we would do is sleep there (2 adults, 2 kids - probably 5 and 7 or so at time of sailing)? Should we upgrade to a porthole or even an veranda?
Any advice or experience that you can share would be helpful!

We've done two disney cruises so far (a 4-night and a 7-night). I would concur with what others have said: go with the inside or even porthole for this first cruise. But then, if your family loves cruising, "upgrade" on a subsequent cruise. That's what we did. First cruise (before kids - non-Disney), we did a 3-night inside; next time, a 5-night porthole; then, a 7-night verahdah...you get the idea. It made each new cruise that much more special. Ironically, we have tossed around the idea of another Disney cruise in the next 1-2 years and may actually revert to a porthole...the verhandahs are just so expensive on Disney...and as others have said, you really don't spend that much time in the room anyway. Well have a great time whatever you decide!

One other thing to consider is what kind of package deals are available and whether buying the tickets separately really results in savings as compared to the package. For example, if you're considering the Dining Plan, and especially if you're going during a typical free dining promotion time, the dining plan is tied to the Magic Your Way ticket. IIRC, most of the "stay x number of days, get y number of days free" deals also require package purchases.

I guess all I can say is, do the math and see how big of a discount you're really getting (especially considering what the upgrade to "no expiration" costs). If the discount on the tickets that way is small, you might want to just wait and see what other deals come out for the next trip.

Trevor Senn. His fight with Ken Tasker is amazing. Trevor is the one in white. Even though he got roughed up at the end of that fight, he definitely won more fights than he lost. He was giving up 3 inches and about 30 pounds in this one. This fight in particular was shown on some "Sports Disasters" show on TLC (or so I heard).

And now for a Disney trip question.

We usually buy N.E. tickets. It think you have to weigh the amount of days you are going to use per trip. If you are using less than 5 days per trip N.E. tickets are the way to go.

Check out these prices for Undercover Tourist (regular site no mousesavers link)

A 6 day base ticket through UT = $236
A 10 day N.E. base ticket through UT = $462

If you are going to use 5 days this trip you would have 5 days for the next trip. Looking at these prices I might just go for the base ticket. Why tie up the money now for a slight ticket increase that usually takes place in the middle of the summer.

How about using the hopper option.

6 day hopper= $286
10 day hopper N.E. = $501

If you were able to use only 5 days each trip, with this scenario the N.E. is the better option because you would only pay once for the hopping option.

It does get more interesting to use a N.E. ticket if you are going to add park hopping and waterpark & more.

A 7 day hopper, WP & more = $291
A 10 day N.E. hopper, WP & more = $503

Even if you use all you park days on a N.E. WP&more ticket, the other days do not expire until used. So say you hit a waterpark 2 days this trip, you would still have 8 entrances left. So next trip you used the rest of the park days and used 2 waterpark days, you would still have 6 WP& more days left that don't expire to be used on future trips.

On our last trip, I upgraded to an AP for the room savings, free parking, and merchandise discounts, and other perks. Since you are not going to get back in 12 months this wouldn't be the cheap option for you.

I'll try to answer any ticket questions you have. You can always ask Cheshire Figment on the park attractions board. He has the ticket knowledge!!! :upsidedow
