WOW I stop reading the DIS to focus on my education and come back to this, where did the first thread go?

Thought I would stop in and say hello, I should be doing my thesis paper, but the DIS was calling after such a long break, oh well almost done with my education then I will have time for the DIS again.

Hey dads, check out this link, has nothing to do with Disney, but what this girl can do is pretty impressive. Felt it was worth sharing.

That was crazy! Thanks for the link.

Thanks! Perhaps another time you'll let me know when you're coming to town and we can meet up... that goes for any of you who travel and happen to include Indy on your intinerary.

The bags are packed. The kids are in bed... one more sleep til the fun begins!!! :woohoo: I'll say hey to Goofy for you all!
Hope it warms up for ya! Have a great trip!!!!! :woohoo:

Coon Rapids is one of the northern suburbs of Minneapolis. My in-laws lived just up the road in Champlin for about 8 years.

DNSYFRK - what are you studying?

First off, Welcome new dads...wow, we are growing aren't we?:cool1::cool1:

Thank you all for the hearty welcome. I clink my glass to yours. So if I got this right, the beacon to alert the extraction team is on the top of the roof of the ESPN Club? That way when the team comes in, we can have a round or two before I am whisked away.

Brother, with you taking 7 teenage girls, all ya gotta' do is hit the button and we'll take care of ya:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Holy cr** this is me! I thought I was the only one like this. Sign me up!

:laughing::laughing::laughing: Welcome! It's nice to know that you're not alone in your obsession, huh? :thumbsup2

Thesis paper... what are you are writing about? ... and I thought Arkansas was the only state that had towns named after forest creatures. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Chris that is amazing. Great job on the cake.

We are heading to my in laws today for Christmas this afternoon. Can't wait till this is over.

Has anyone seen the new ad for the five day six nights at Disney? I just caught the end of the commercial and I thought that they said you get a $750 gift card.

I second the great job on the cake! Totally cool!

Kevin - We booked our trip in April using this promo... staying at CSR and getting a $500 GC :woohoo:

Have a great time Don!:thumbsup2

Stopher you have a good time too, I will not be going next weekend MIL is not up for walking much and didn't like the idea of driving a little rascle.:confused3

Don the new thread is fresh!!! I love it I knew you were the guy to take charge.:thumbsup2

Thanks :thumbsup2 Now I'm trying to get caught up from the weekend... Stuff blew up at work on Friday and had a busy weekend. :confused3

That's an awesome cake! But where's the hidden Mickey? :thumbsup2

That's what I was thinking....

just squint a little bit at the hobbit hole and cross your eyes a little bit and then you can kinda see one with the door and windows - honestly I didn't even think of doing one... maybe for the next one

:scared1::scared1::scared1: The great Stopher1 didn't even THINK about a hidden Mickey?? :eek::eek:

We already had a trip planned when we got our daughter placed with us an newborn foster child. She was 7 weeks old during her first trip. And it was totally worth it!

I've been following along on Facebook. Hopefully everything will get back to normal soon!

Yeah, lots of memories came back reading this. Growing up on a farm with very little supervision led to many hours of toy interrogation, torture and destruction. Sid from Toy Story had nothing on me! My brother and I even built our own bottle rocket launcher/bazooka complete with sight. It's amazing I turned out as well adjusted as I did. :confused3

Oh yeah... my toys would have stories to tell, too! I think one of the crazier things I did with toys happened to be with the cap guns... you know... you used to be able to buy a box of 5 rolls of caps for your gun? Well... I took an entire box of the rolls... set it on a concrete pad... grabbed a sledge hammer... and in a few second had concrete shrapnel embeded in my shins, ears ringing loudly, and a small crater left in the concrete. I think that incident resulted in a "time out" (which back then it meant getting a switch from the tree and commencing the art of creating welts in the rear!) since my mom thought a bomb went off! :lmao::lmao:

"humbly ask"? You'll soon learn there is no "humble" in here! Welcome to the club. I've started reading your PTR. We'll not only pray for you, but we'll alert the DIS Dad's Club Extraction Team. They swoop in in black helicopters and pull fellow dads out of situations where the estrogen levels reach dangerous concentrations. The Dad is then transported to a "safe house" where large HDTVs show numerous sporting events and assorted beverages are available. Your situation clearly qualifies. Good luck, young man.:thumbsup2

HAHA! The DDCET!! Love it!

The point of no return escape route is in It's a Small World. Admit it, you've always wondered where that track that goes off to the right goes:rolleyes1.

:lmao::lmao:

That's a last resort. Pass through the curtain, and you suddenly find yourself being fitted with the Tinkerbell outfit for Wishes that night.:scared1:

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Speaking of talent has anyone seen Miyuki Japanese Candy in Epcot. The animals she makes out of candy are so detailed it's amazing. If you go get there a few minutes early to be up front, if she picks you she will make you any animal, she picked us and my wife said giraffe, she made it in about 2-3 minutes detailed to perfection and put it on a lollipop stick wrapped and gave it to my son. I was impressed:goodvibes

LOVE the candy lady! I have a few pics of her in my latest installment of my TR here:

I can tell you I WILL! I'm exhausted. DW never likes to come home from any trip to a messy house... I've been working my butt off all afternoon & evening (so has she) and finishing up the packing. I am soooo ready for bed. Just a couple more things to monitor and then off to bed I go.

I'll try to get a "LIVE" TR started maybe tomorrow night or Tuesday... I did one that way when the boys and I went down for Star Wars Weekends this past May (see my signature), and I'll try one again...but as Mary Poppins might say, it's a pie-crust promise, easily made, easily broken. We'll see guys... night all - take care.

You're probably on the road right now... looking forward to the live TR!! :cool1:

Welcome back!! Yes.... we've grown a little bit since you last visited. Have fun reading up on what you've missed... although I would recommend skipping the last 30 pages of DDC II... some kids somehow hacked a few of the dad's accounts and posted a bunch of gibberish..... :rolleyes1

I humbly ask admittance to the Disney Dad’s Club. (Thank you sir may I have another?) My bona fides you may ask? I am a single dad raising a 15 soon to be 16 YO daughter. I can answer yes to multiple questions on the first post. Numerous trips to Disney including one next weekend with daughter and 6 of her girlfriends. Pray for me please. That alone should qualify me for membership and possibly a special commendation. If you are interested, the pre-trip stuff and eventual trip report are/will be on the DVC Boards at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2365333.

I hope you let me in and I can add the Dad’s Club emblem to my sig. Looking forward to opening a cold one or having a cocktail and discussing Disney Man Law.

Oh yeah... you NEED a support group like this! :rotfl2: You are member # 412! :thumbsup2

Holy cr** this is me! I thought I was the only one like this. Sign me up!

Glad you found us!! You are member # 413! :banana:

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

Yesterday was fairly interesting. Our local AAA club held their annual "Disney Day" from 1-4PM. It's basically a day where anyone - even non-AAA members - can come to learn what Disney has to offer. They also have activities for kids to keep them entertained. This time they had face painting and hat making activities. It's pretty low-key and it's designed primarily to get people in the door and join AAA and book vacations. We invited our neighbor friends and their 2 kids to come along with us (we have attended this event for the past 2 years). So after the obligatory kids activities, they were holding a seminar for Disney cruises. We go in and start listening to this guy describe what the Disney cruises have to offer... the kids were awe-struck! They kept running over to us asking when they were going to go on a cruise! HAHA! Even DW said that it sounds like a lot of fun... UNTIL... she opened the brochure to the price listings! She couldn't understand why it is so much more expensive to go on a cruise. Oh well... I'll keep working on her :thumbsup2 Did you know that the new ship they are building (Disney Dream) will have a 765 foot water coaster!! I was ready to book right then and there!

OK... so after all the excitement... and kids begging to go... we get ready to leave. As we are standing around waiting to go, I turn to DW and say "Can you imagine coming to an event like this and get all excited, then as you are getting ready to go home, you start driving to the airport instead... and go to Disney world??" :cool1: She thought it was a cool idea... until I said "Let's go now!" :lmao:

I have to admit, I still don't quite understand that one myself... :laughing: But the water coaster does sound way cool.

Now that's not a bad idea at all...I might have to steal that sometime.

This site is awfully slow today... not sure how often I'll be checking on here the rest of the day...

Hi Guys,

I've been out with health issues the last couple of months, but I'm happy to be back at 100% and amazed to see that we're now on our third thread!

Oh, and I do have some news: my wife will be finishing her degree in history in August to become a teacher. And, guess where she wants to look for a teaching job? :woohoo:
