Hey guys,

Just getting caught back up after taking a magical week off to be at home for the holidays. Getting out of bed this morning for work was...less magical.

Welcome to the new dads, and Fed, I hope your ear has started clearing up by this point. Have you tried the ol' blow-your-nose-while-holding-your-nostrils-and-mouth-shut trick yet?

So I'm planning my next trip, and thought I'd ask for some help. I actually "won" practice-round tickets to the Masters in the beginning of April (probably the only lottery I'll ever win). My kids have off that week for spring break, so we're making a vacation out of it. We're planning on driving down through Shenandoah National Park on the way down, and maybe taking a day trip to Charleston as well to see Ft. Sumter and wander the city. Then it would be back up I-95 at the end of the week for home. So, is there anything you would recommend trying to see/experience in Virginia and the Carolinas that we shouldn't miss?

shenandoah is a nice ride. on a clear day on int.81 you can see for miles. think of me when you pass a place called whites truck stop, dw and i spent the night in our car in the parking lot in the late 80s due to snow and wind on 81.:lmao: its wasnt bad till we got up into those mtns and wow, it was bad.:lmao: (we were young and stupid then, now we stay out of the mtns in the winter during a snow storm.):lmao:

Hey dads...thought I'd share this very strange thing happend this weekend. We drove up for a day trip to DHS this past Saturday (1/2), arriving around noon, and the most amazing thing happened. They just waved everybody into the parking lot. No charge for parking! I haven't parked in a theme park lot in several years (we usually stay in an on-property hotel), so is this common? It was a great start to a great day!!

Oh and by the way, Happy New Year everybody!

It would have been $14. It's ironic because I was griping as soon as I saw the sign with the rates -- but never had to pay!!

BTW, I read on another thread that they do this every once in awhile when traffic backs up on the main road into DHS (which was the case on this day) in order to keep cars flowing. Guess timing is everything!!

Man, I wish I had your luck!

Ya know, I could've gone all day without someone bringing that game up... :sad2:

One week from tonight I'll be relaxing in our treehouse. I only hope the cold front moving through Florida moves OUT before we get there. It'll still be warmer than Indy (-3 when I left for the office this morning), but who wants to leave the cold to go to the cold in Florida? My DW is so happy thinking of being warm for 10 days...

I'll take any Florida cold any day of the week compared to here:cool1: A sweatshirt and maybe a light jacket sure beats layers of shirts and coats anyday.

Work Sucks! :sad2:

Tell me about it, my return work lasted all of 3 hours. I went back to the van to get a binder I forgot, dropped my keys, and when I bent over to get them my back went into spasms. Spent the rest of the day self medicating at home until finally going to Urgent Care, the gave me a shot to stop the spasms and told me to say home a few days.

OWWW! Sounds like you need a vacation from your time off. Get some rest and hope you get up and around quick. :thumbsup2

That sucks, hope you feel better, lay on the couch and take it easy, consider it a extended vacation.

My MIL in Florida has been complaining about the cold and how she had to bundle up to go to work. This is a lady that has lived in Wisconsin or Minnesota almost her entire life. After 18 months in Fl, she's already complaining about weather in the 50s. Sheeesh.

:headache: That's never good! Hope the medicine is working good for you... and definitely take it easy! Hope you feel better soon.
