Hey guys, I'd just like to wish all of you a very HAPPY NEW YEAR and all the best in the coming year.

If any of you are at home tonight and are wondering what is going on at WDW hit this link and see a live cam from the Poly and they are expecting an amazing fireworks show starting at 11:50pm est.

I watched the electric water parade earlier, very cool:thumbsup2
Have fun!!

For some reason I cant put this link in, sorry guys the website is called eyes on ears

That was pretty cool. Watched that in the kitchen, then ran out to the living room to see the ball drop in NYC... fun stuff. DW couldn't make it til midnight tonight...dead tired, so she went to bed at about 10:45. Got my kiss then. Then my boys and I had some fun and watched together. They were out in the street shooting off bottle rockets about 11:45. Root beer floats just after midnight. My DS10 insisted on taking his shower tonight at 11:57, so that he could say he took a shower over 2 months, over 2 years and over 2 decades! What a funny duck he is. Just got them to bed. Night guys - again, Happy New Year!

Ok, Disney Detox didn't work, we're looking at a potential return trip in April. Short, two nights, one park (MK) w/ BIL's family for their daughter's first trip.

Trip Report (w/ video) coming soon.....

Oh, yeah, and Happy New Year!!!

Speaking of helicopters... I got an Air Hog last year for Christmas. Here is a video of me teasing the cats with the thing... I still wasn't that good with it at the time, but still fun:

Too funny watching the cats play with the copter. That thing flies a lot better than the one we got a couple of years ago. Ours looked more like a wounded bird flapping on the ground.

Any other DIS Dads notice the (gasp) non-Disney flick on the TV? :rolleyes1

Thanks for the link. We missed the new year's fireworks but enjoying a rainy morning at the Poly is a nice relaxing way to start the new year. :thumbsup2

I watched the fireworks last night. There were awesome. Wish I could have been there in person though.

Happy New Year to all the Dis Dads!

Today everyone is coming to my house. My folks, my sister and her 2 kids plus one, my step-sister and BIL and their 2 kids, DW's parents, and my step-mom's sister. :scared1: The only ones missing are my brother and wife and their baby girl. He had to work.

On the menu:
Black-eyed peas
Hog Jowl
Cornbread
Green Beans
Stewed Taters
Pork Chops
Hot Water Cornbread
Baked Beans
Lemon Pound Cake
Cherry Cream Cheese Pie

I hope we have enough!

Happy New Years guys!

So I have to complain a bit. I'm a Northwestern guy and I was all excited to watch the Outback bowl this morning. Had a little project of putting together some book shelves for the kids books in the basement while I watched the game.

So I settle in, and turn on the game and its already 14-7 Auburn. I work away at the bookshelves and all is good, Auburn scores again 21-7. :confused3 Halftime comes and goes and they return to the field. I continue to watch the pathetic offenses on both sides of the ball and finally before I throw my TV into the cement wall of the basement I turn it off.

Now the kicker is the game ended 38-35 in OT!!!!! Some how in the last 18 minutes or so of this game they figured out how to score 6 TDs!!! :confused3

I just wish I could have seen my Wildcats score at least once instead of watching 3 INTs.

Arrgggghhhh!!!!!

Sorry...Vent Over....

Hog jowl is the really fatty pieces from the cheek bone area of the pig. It looks like bacon, but has a little different texture and taste. You fry it up, but have to be careful b/c it pops a lot in the grease. It's part of the New Year's tradition that I grew up with.

Hot water cornbread is cornbread that's made with hot water. really. :lmao:
You mix white cornmeal and salt then boil some water and mix it in the meal. You use your hands to form small patties that you fry. :thumbsup2 It's great. Fried bread, what could be better? It's part of the New Year's traditiion that DW grew up with. Black eyed peas are apparently the common thread. :goodvibes

It was at noon 'thirty. But there's lots of leftovers, head on over! :rotfl2:

This has been an interesting day. We discovered a gas leak in the backyard. I smashed my finger in a folding chair. DW broke her new soap dispenser in the kitchen. And our vaccum almost blew up.

 All in all your standard New Year's holdiay celebration. :rotfl:

I'm still working on the DW about a possible Dec '10 trip :cool2: Hehe.

Hopefully she will cave in, it would be great to have you onboard in Dec.
We will be in your neck of the woods at least 3 times this year at Busch Gardens:yay:

So I have been catching up on the posts and have a question? What is the best helicopter for chasing the cats? I have been considering buying one for my son :rolleyes1 and want to get "him" one that is fairly easy to use.

Get everything out of the way the 1st day, hopefully you will have smooth sailing the rest of the year:confused3

We've all been there. I'm actually glad I missed the first few minutes of the Badgers game. They up a touchdown on the opening kickoff that was called back on a dumb penilty, then gave up a touchdown on the very next play. I probably would have shut it off right there!:sad2:

Ok this is a little scary:scared1: when you click on the more on the smile choices and go down all the way they have 10 - 200lbs:wish200 and 1-20 sizes::wishsize20. Maybe its me but that huge:confused3

Well,

I've learned something over these last seven days.

I learned why my son screamed his fool head off the whole time he had ear infections as an infant. I just got blasted by one that came on the day after Christmas...holy cow, had to go back for another antibiotic b/c the first didn't work. 4 days of 102 degree fever...plus the 4 hour drive home on Tuesday (was supposed to be Monday, but I was NOT going anywhere). It hurt beyond belief, heck they finally gave me Darvocet the other day....

Oh man, I can only imagine how my little guy felt (he kept an ear infection for about a month when he was a baby)...

First one I've ever had (mom says I never had one as a baby).......I hope I NEVER have that again!!!

I knew I was in trouble when 15 minutes after my last post here, I was in the porch swing with my son and started to get motion sickness---and I DO NOT get motion sickness!!

Anyway

HAPPY NEW YEAR....Late:headache:
